June 10Th Or Week 31

Well, I haven't posted on here in forever and a day. But I figured I should update you all with my progress if there is anyone even reading these anymore. I am 31 or so weeks in to the process... I was supposed to be off of accutane in March but we extended it because I was still having a few breakouts a month (like a pimple here and there, nothing cystic). I have a pack and a half left to take and then I am stopping the pills. I have gone pretty far over my cumulative dose based on my weight so my doctor doesn't want me to get way too much in my system. I am comfortable going out without makeup now! I still have some red splotches and some dryness but overall I am amazed at how much better it looks now versus back when I last posted! I had some reallyyyy bad broken out times! Anywho, I will post pictures of my progress now! xoxo -KK

Week 8

It has been a few weeks since I posted last time =/ I have been SO TIRED every day when I get off work that I come home and immediately pass out. I think the accutane is making me feel this way... A few things have changed since the last time I was on here. My doctor upped my dosage to 60 mg per day so that I could be done a bit sooner than expected. I am supposed to take one 20mg a day and one 40 mg a day separately. However, I have been having the hardest time remembering to take my pills now that I have to take them twice a day. I asked if I could possibly take them together since it is only 20 more mg than my first months dose but he said I would have to eat a big steak with my pills if I did that and he didn't recommend I do that. BUT, since I keep forgetting I have been taking them together sometimes and then I try to eat a "fatty" meal so that the pills will work. This is making me gain weight like crazy it seems Maybe it is all in my head but I think I am. On another note, a new symptom I am having from accutane is some sort of eczema I think? But it is only on my arms. I am not sure if this is directly related to the new dosage or if it has something to do with the clothes at work. My mom got married last weekend so I flew home for the weekend and my arms seemed to clear up and not itch as much so who knows maybe that is just from work. It seems to get pretty bad when I touch these wool coats we have all over the store so I have been avoiding them like the plague! As far as my breakouts go, I feel like in the past few weeks it has definitely gotten worse (well I know it has since I have taken pictures each week) but this week is a little better than the last so hopefully it'll keep clearing up rather than flaring up again. My back pain has gotten pretty bad too. Anytime I bend over, even for a second, it hurts really bad when I stand back up and try to straighten my back out. I hope that when I am done with accutane this will stop because I feel like an old woman! I think that is about it for now... Till next time! xoxo -KK

Week 4

I am a little bit late posting due to Black Friday but unfortunatley my breakouts have come back again, I guess for round two of an "initial breakout". At the beginning of week three I thought that my breakouts has cleared up some but it seems as if that was only temporary. Anywho, it'll clear up completely someday! I go back this Friday for my first appointment with my dermatologist since I've started accutane to see how my levels are and to take another pregnancy test so I can get my next pack of pills. I am thinking about asking if I can up my dosage so that I can get this over with faster. Other than that, my side effects haven't been too bad. I get random pains in my back but I have always had a bad back so I don't really think its due to accutane. I posted my week 4 pictures to my gallery... xoxo KK

Start Of Week 3

Here we are, at the beginning of week 3! Time is flying by because I have been so busy! May should be here before I know it right?! <---- This is my positive outlook emoji haha Anywho, I have seen a noticeable difference between the breakouts I had last week and the ones I have this week. I had some nasty big bumps last week that have dried up this week and are just kinda reddish... As you can see in the gallery if you look. The inside of my nose still hurts as it is still the only place not getting moisturized (thank you to everyone who has given me ideas of how to fix it too by the way). But now I have noticed that the Lypsyl isn't working as well as it was. My lips aren't dry and chapped but they have been sort of peeling. And the inside of my lips that touch my teeth are beginning to feel weird too almost like cotton mouth but not my whole mouth. It's very odd. And my chin has these teeny tiny little bumps that you can't really see unless you are really close to my face but you can feel them. It is kind of like how your skin gets in the winter before it completely dries up except for the fact that its not flaky dry skin... Just bumps. Other than my face, I have noticed I am more itchy now on my arms and hands even though they get moisturized every morning and night. That's about it I think. My week 3 pictures are in my gallery. Share some of your alls blogs with me! I would love to read them! xoxo KK hahah I love these things

Day 11 (Mid Week 2)

My boyfriend and I went to New Orleans for the Saints game this weekend and I woke up one night at the hotel and felt like I couldn't move my neck. Now, I am not sure if this is due to the accutane or if this bed at the hotel was just terrible, but either way it kind of freaked me out and I have heard that accutane will make your neck and muscles hurt. And also, with New Orleans comes drinking typically... I really toned it down this time though obviously (since I'm not trying to kill my liver) and just had a glass of wine at dinner the first night which seemed to be fine. And I started to drink a beer at the Saints game today but I started feeling kind of sick so I had my bf finish it instead. Was it dumb for me to drink at all on it? I figured one/two drinks wouldn't be a big deal. As far as my symptoms have been going, I have not really dried out or anything yet because I am still using so much moisturizer of all kinds. But, the inside of my nose has started to hurt really bad and feels kind of dry. I guess that is the one place that I am not moisturizing. I also had some dried up blood in my nose too but I haven't had a nose bleed. One of my friends who took accutane back in high school told me that I should buy a humidifier to sit by my bed when I sleep to help with my nose and the dryness in general. Does anyone else recommend that? I just uploaded my (not so pretty/slightly disgusting) week 2 pictures that I took last Thursday to my gallery... Really shows how bad the initial breakout has started off. Hopefully thats the worst that it will get. I have been using Makeup Forever Full Coverage Concealer to cover the breakouts and I have been using Bare Minerals matte foundation to try to even everything out. 11 down 168 more to go... xoxo KK

Week 2 Of Accutane

Well, I am officially one week in on my journey to clear skin! 7 pills down, 173 more to go! I have definitely experienced my initial breakout... But I just have to remind myself that this should be the last bad breakout that I ever have. Optimism is key. The left side of my neck is a war zone it seems Definitely won't be wearing my hair in a pony tail until this clears up. Weird thing is that the right side of my neck is completely clear. Is there a reason this is happening? As far as dryness goes, I haven't experienced any terribly dry skin. I have been moisturizing like crazy though. I use the Vaseline intensive care lotion all over my body and have been using the Cerave AM lotion during the day on my face and some sort of creamy Olay face cream at night. I really like the Olay night cream but I don't like the Cerave AM much because it smells and feels like I am putting thick sunscreen all over my face and it makes my makeup feel caked on. I might just have to use the PM kind instead since I'm not really in the sun anymore since its getting pretty cold out. Also, I have been using Lypsyl religiously and I am obsessed with it! My lips are actually more moisturized now than they were before I was on Accutane!! Anyways, everything seems to be going decently well. Just hoping this initial breakout will clear up soon! I have to work early in the morning so I will add my week 2 pictures later. xoxo KK

Day One Of Amnesteem (Accutane)

I took my first pill of amnesteem today and I am pretty nervous about what will happen in the following weeks and months ahead. I have heard horror stories and I remember seeing some of my classmates in high school who were taking accutane and how bad their faces got. I found this site after visiting my dermatologist to try to get rid of my acne once and for all. He told me he wanted to put me on accutane since I had literally tried EVERYTHING under the sun and over the counter. Initially I turned him down and settled for a prescription of solodyne and ziana but when I came home that day to research Accutane I found this site and started reading everyones blogs about how great accutane has been for them and I saw all of the before and after pictures. So, I obviously went back and told him I would move forward with the Accutane. So here we are... Pill one is down and I have 179 more to go! He put me on 40 mg pills once a day and wants to get me up to a cumulative dose of 7050 which should take me about 6 months to complete. I am 24 years old and my acne started up around 8th or 9th grade which puts me at about ten years of battling it with no success. After graduating from college I had some pretty traumatic stuff happen and then I moved to Florida. I thought being at the beach on a regular basis would help my skin (which isn't the reason I moved to Fl by the way haha) but within the past year of living here my face has gotten worse than it has EVER been. I work in retail too so I deal with customers face to face everyday and I am tired of feeling like my face is a big billboard for acne. It makes me look like a 16 year old too and I do not like that because 16 year olds don't have full time jobs and rent/insurance/groceries to pay for. For once I'd like to look my age and have pretty clear skin. Here is a list of things I tried: 1. Proactive which made it worse and made my skin very sensitive not to mention bleached my clothes and sheets. 2. Literally ALL of the prescriptions and creams/gels they will prescribe you 3. Benzoyl Peroxide... Literally did nothing. 4. Tanning beds and laying out in the sun hoping to dry them up. As soon as I lost my tan the acne would come back. 5. Clinique acne face wash, moisturiser (also bleached my pillow case), spot treatment gel 6. Good old fashioned toothpaste... Never helped just made the skin more tough on top of the acne. 7. Every toner out there which all burn like crazy and irritate my skin 8. Clarisonic... It made my face feel clean but it didn't help with breakouts and you needed to change the brush a lot too. I could go on for days with stuff I have tried. Which is why I am now trying accutane. Current status: My left side of my neck and under my chin is extremely broken out... at least 9-10 pimples My left cheek has about 4 normal size breakouts and one really bad one on the left side of my chin. My right cheek has one really bad bump with two more normal sized breakouts. One of which was bleeding earlier My forehead hasn't been breaking out as badly but you can feel little bumps under the surface. I plan to do a flow chart to track my progress over time and I will be taking pictures at least weekly so that I can keep up with what is changing. If anyone reads this and has any words of wisdom/advice/encouragement please feel free to comment! xoxo, KK
