There are a couple of changes that are going on:
1st- I will no longer be writing on my blog.. I know it is sad but i think it's time for me to call it quits. I have not been updating regulary on my blog.
2nd- The good news is that I am documenting my skin care journey here on the YT community. So if anyone is continuing to struggle with hyperpigmentation & pastules (zits) .. i recommend you check out my channel. I hope by myself documenting my skin issues, that it will give hope to people in need of support & encouragement.
From the past few entries I mentioned that I turned to natural products to cure my acne. I soley believe using natural products is the way to go.
( if you disagree, that is ok! we are all entitled to our own opinion )
I have found that when I use natural ingredients, my acne lessened tremendously. I currently do not breakout everyday (unless I am pms'n) & pastules have reduced ( it only occurs 1-2 times every other day). This is more than a blessing & I thank the Lord for that
I am currently working on preventing acne scars, hyperpigmentation & clearing my skin.
3rd- I want to thank anyone & everyone who has followed my posts for the past 2 yrs. I really do appreciate it. You can now follow me on YT & subscribe.
Again thanks for everything,
For those who are following this blog, I just wanted to thank you for faithfully reading.
I just wanted to update everyone on my regimen and if there has been any changes.
I have been using the same regimen for the past 2 months and I love it still.
The black soap is still a winner and the tea tree oil, I will nnot give up anytime soon on.
However, I still want something better! I am always trying to find something to improve my regimen. I work in a kitchen setting where as I am in front of a grill 24/7 and to make matters a little more challenging, the place is also humid since the summer months have been hot!
With all this into effect, I have been trying to keep pimples down to a minimal and watch what I eat now.
My skin has been clearing I did notice some of the hyper pigmentation on my forhead is going away more and for the cheeks its a slow process.
Lately I have been testing a facial clay mask (Pure Bentonite clay)
This past week I made a mask out of it and added a few drops of tea tree oil.
Once i cleansed my face, my face felt literally clean, and fresh! My skin looked like it got worse but as the day went by and the next day did, i saw that i broke out less and less. So i will be trying the clay mask again and will give an update on that as well.
I am also on the lookout for products that help clear hyperpigmentation. If it is organic/ natural skin care products. all of it.
If anyone has any suggestions on which products i should start using to clear up hyperpigmentation please send me a message or comment on this post. I need all the help i can get!
I can't believe I slacked on updating you all on my regimen and posting duties! .. SO here's what has happened in my life for the past 2-3 months.
I just finished up my last semester in college for Culinary Arts Bachelors degree. So I'm very excited that it's over. I just graduated yesterday. However these months were rough.. i hated taking 6 classes and working lol just so i can graduate on time. O well Life is rough sometimes and things happen!
Any who, Spring break in march was fun! I didn't end up going to the dermatologist.. i just didn't have the $$$ and time to go. So that idea is X'd out!
However i did change my regimen!. My aunt suggested I should try black soap so for $5 for 4oz i said what the heck! I bought the soap here@ http://shea-essentials.com. This is also where I get my Shea butter from ( FREE SHIPPING ON THE SHEA BUTTER).
When i 1 st tried it it itched my face the first 3 times.. my skin always does that because its either
a) a new product or
b) it wont work for me not matter how many chances i give it
SO i decided to use black soap for a week.. and omg! amazing!!! amazing amazing!!
Honestly, i never thought this soap would work! It actually works better than the Aubrey organics sea buck-thorn!!
I have not had any problems with this soap after using it since spring break. The other astonishing part about using this soap is that, my skin is much smoother, my acne scars have reduced a lot.. and I don't need to take 6 Herpanacine pills every day... I can now take at least 3 a day and my skin is fine.. This is amazing!! Words cannot describe how happy this makes me.
I don't have to spend $7 for Aubrey organics bottle every month. I can now spend $4-5 on black soap and it lasts me 2 months + !!
Below I've posted my regimen. If anyone has any questions about black soap feel free to send me a message or comment below and i will answer them for you!
Sea Buck thorn & Cucumber w/ Ester- C Toner
Tea- Tree Oil
Dan's Certified Organic Jojoba Oil
Shea Butter (moisturizer)(optional)
Herpanacine Pills (2-3 per day)
Spring Valley's Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia)
Hey Everyone I am Back!
As I promised, I am giving you all an update on my skin and a review on the Tea Tree Oil that I bought 1 week ago.
If any of you don't recall, I bought this product because I didn't want to break out again because i though my pills wouldn't come in on time. So my friend recommended that I try this product and here are my thoughts and the facts
Where I bought it at:
I bought this oil at Wal-Mart for $8. At first I thought this was high price.. but in reality it is not. Tea Tree oil can run at a starting price of $10 and up... and that is only for either samples or 2fl.oz bottles. SO this was a great deal
If you click the image of the photo tag I put in this post, you can see that the oil comes in a brown glass bottle with a black cap. This product is small in size and comfortable to hold in your hand when you need to pour some of the liquid out.
This brand is "100% Pure Australian Oil Pharmaceutical Grade!" & "Natural Antiseptic".
To be honest, I didn't think much about was labeled on the bottle when I bought this product. However, when I was on the product reviews section on acne.org to look at peoples reviews for this oil in general, I realized that different brands of this oil did not work for some people. If the oil did work for some who were using it, it was the Australian Oil type. So if your already thinking about trying this product I suggest buying it if it only says "100% pure Australian Oil".
Out of 5 stars. I give this product a 5. The reason for this is that, when I applied the oil to my face, it absorbed the oil right away leaving no greasy areas or marks. It's very light.
Every smelled Vicks Vapor rub? I'm pretty sure most of you know that smell. who can forget it ! right? Well that strong smell is exactly what the oil smells like ( @ least to me). I like the smell. If you don't like the smell of it. theirs not much you can do about it.. When I 1st put this stuff for my face, my whole room smelled like this oil lol. The good thing was that my roommate loves the smell of it! Talk about a strong scent. i
The Progress (aka... What it does to the face from my experience):
1. I noticed that when you put the oil on your face, after 10 seconds, the skin absorbs it quickly.
2. The redness from the bumps of my face ( or in the surrounding areas) decreased a lot.
The skin is was allowing the oil to do its job .. reduce redness and size of the bumps. If any of you have areas where your acne, cysts or other bumps are, apply the oil to it to stop the itching. I did and it was amazing.
3. The oil dries out the pimple. This is what happened to me for the past week. My pimples went down significantly just like the bumps on my face. I'm not talking about 5% .. i'm talking about 98%. I was in shock because I have when I have been using the Dans Treatment (aka Benzoyl Peroxide). It did not do the job the oil has done.
I also recommend that if you do decide to use this product and your using some sort of benzoyl peroxide, I suggest not to use both of them on your face, it'll just irritate your face if you use both.
The tree oil pretty much replaces the benzoyl peroxide. Soif any of you have highly sensitive skin like me... use the oil and use the benzoyl as a back up..just in case you run out of the tea tree oil.
I love this product! I truly do.. I wish I would have learned about this oil and used it a long time ago. The one thing I also like about this oil is that it has also prevented new acne on my skin from occurring. So what I'm doing now is using this oil twice a day (morning and night). As for Dans Treatment bottle, I will save that as a back up treatment. when I run out of the oil and cant get to the store anytime soon.
There are some bumps on both of my cheeks. Nothing too big. I remember 1 week ago i had 3 big ones on my left cheek and that was just ridiculous! They wouldnt go away even when I was using the treatment. Luckily once I started using the tea tree oil, those bumps went away in 3 days! compare 3 days too 3 weeks! Major improvement.
I usually have these bumps because I will be PMS'n really soon.So if any of you have read my postings before, you can recall that I break out horribly before my period. So far I have not broke out terribly but we'll see~
My face is still clearing up one day at a time and I'm loving it. The good news is that my pills came in this past Friday which I was really excited I bought the 200 capsules bottle.. so those pills are going to last me a while .
So if any of you have any questions or curious about my facial progress and I haven't talked about it, send a note or comment below and I'll get back to you ASAP.
So it has been 2 weeks later and I am breaking out on my cheeks more. The reason why I've broken out is because I am still low on my Herpanacine pills.. so i ordered some yesterday and it will ship in 4 days ( hopefully! ) . So it might take a week to get here!
In the meantime, bought zinc 50 mg pills and tea tree oil to help my face while i finish the last of the Herp. pills and receive more in another week. I bought the zinc pills because I've used them in the past and it has worked on my face. It kept my bumps down on my cheeks and prevented some acne.
The tea tree oil, I never have tried before but a friend of mines has used it and its her main staple in her regimen.
She had breakouts and acne as well and I was told that the tea tree oil reduces redness, helps in reducing acne. So I'll see how it works and i'll come back and update later this week.
As far as my regimen, I am still using my same regimen as I said 3 weeks ago. Nothing else has changed in my regimen . I still love the Aubrey organics Sea Buck thorn. It's amazing! I love it.
As far as seeing a Dermatologist, I will be home next month to see one. I will also let you all know how that visit will go.
Happy Days Ahead
If anyone has been following my posts, (or has begun from my last entry)my skin has been battling me back and forth. I have been still sticking to my regimen . Since I have been taking the Herpanicine pills,,and I am starting to run low.. so i have been only taking between 2-4 a day ( when I can remember.. I have a busy schedule at school) and at least 3-4 colon cleanser pills a day as well.
I noticed that once your body gets used to taking 6 herpanicine pills, you can lower the dosage and it will still work the same. I have only been on these pills for at least almost 2 months now. When I lowered the dosage this week it still worked the same. which I am very happy with.
I don't like to talk about it much, however, I did mention it in my last entry. First off I need to talk about this because its highly important. When women are pms'n we sometimes break out really bad and it happened to me this week.. ( not as bad as in the past) but bad enough. My forehead I broke out with zits on my eyebrows and above them.
I also had broke out on my left side of my cheek ( the one that has been giving me the most problems lately. They were red for the past 2 days this week and I couldnt understand why. It look so bad like I was cut or something and the wound was trying to heal but it couldn't. So that continued back and forth.
When I went outside this past week, face submitted to the brittle cold...the cold weather this week made my skin so dry and uneasy to work with as far as keeping it moisturized.
It's been a few days into my period and I would like to tell you the results:
Left Side of my cheek:Today I have 3 medium sized bumps. It looks like its healing pretty nicely. SO it looks like the the worst is over for right now.
Right Side: Has been good to me this whole time! only 2 zits were on that side. and existing bumps have been reducing quite a bit.
To attack the dry skin I added on the use of avocado oil. to my regimen. I've been using it for 3 days now and it has helped tremendously.
I've reduced my usage of the treatment bottle ( dans benzoyl)... I have put it on once a day this week and that was due to the redness on my left side of the cheek. It also looked like my face was more sensitive while i was pms'n. Using this once a day helped kill the bacteria.
I have been eating meals 3-4 times a day. I have been trying to choose healthier options. I live on a college campus so I have found my self going to the vegetarian and sandwich stations a lot.
If your wondering if i'm a vegetarian the answer is no. lol Vegetarian food is really good these days .
I also eat pizza.. i know its very greasy but to reduce the excess oil. (especially on pepperoni pizza, dab the pizza with a paper towel until the oil is soaked up in the paper.. this helps so a lot!
This is it! If any of you have any comments or other questions I'm not posting on here .. feel free to comment!
I've been a member of acne.org for a while but it has been a long time since I have actually revisited and wrote in this blog. If anyone has read my entries from at least over 1 year . ago..you can agree that that not only I am African American (black), I have moderate to severe acne and was using Dans Regimen for months.
Dans regimen did indeed work for a while but I would still break out before my menstrual cycles and even when i wasn't on it.
Over the past year, I have switched up my regimen. I was taking the following:
Fish Oil (2 gell pills) every other day
Zinc 50 mg chelated - once everyday
Colon Cleanser- once a day
Dans Full Regimen (morning and night)
Summer/Fall 2009: (morning and night)
Aubrey Organics Vegecol
Aubrey Organics Vegecol Toner
Shea Butter (moisturizer)
Aubrey Organics Vegecol Facial Cleansing Cream
Aubrey Organics Vegecol Toner
Shea Butter (moisturizer)
Okay so fast foward to today and here is my current regimen
January 2010: (Each Day)
Sea Buckthorn & Cucumber w/ Ester- C Facial Cleansing Cream
Sea Buckthorn & Cucumber w/ Ester- C Toner
Dans Treatment (benzoyl) once per day
Shea Butter (moisturizer)
Herpanacine Pills (6 per day)
Colon Cleanser ( 4-6 per day)
Herpanacine: ( i know sounds like Herpers lol)
The Herpanacine pills actually have been working on my face and have been cleaning the insides of my body. The Bumps have reduced significantly and the breakouts have been less and less.
When I started this product, I started with 3 pills per day.. the maximum you can take is 6.
The pills are all natural and comes in a powder form. The outside cap of the pill is made of vegetables so I though this was cool.
I've been using this product for a little over 1 month and i do now see more results each day!
So if anyone has not heard of this product or has and is skeptical about it, i say give it a try. Again , I have severe/moderate acne with highly sensitive skin.
This has come alongside the Herpanacine to help cleanse out my system even more. I have been using this for sometime so it is helping my skin heal.
Aubrey Organics Sea Buckthorn Facial Cleanser and Toner:
This was recommended to me by the skin care specialist at my local natural/organic health foods store. This cleanser and Toner 1st of all.. smells really good! It has a lemon/ clean fresh smell to it.
I have been using the cleanser for 4 weeks now and I'm in love with it! it has done a better job than the Vegecol cleanser. The toner, I have been using for 1 week and so far it has been good, I cant complain. My main concern is keeping my breakouts and zits down to a minimal until i return home to see a dermatologist in Feb/March.
Dans Treament (Benzoyl):
Does it's job! enough said!
Joboba Oil/ Unrefined Shea Butter:
The joboba oil.. I have been using for sometime and its helped also heal my skin and unclog my pores. The oil is like (not heavy).
The shea butter.. if you don't know what it is your missing out on this wonderful product. The shea butter is a great moisturizer for skin in general. shea butter actually lasts for a long time (6 -8 months). This has been working great on my face. (especially for the winter months).
This is the end of my update. Again i'm just trying to minimize outbreaks and get rid of my acne! I suffered with this skin condition for 10 years and do not plan on suffering with it for the rest of my years on this earth!
