It's been a long time! Things were going well about 2 weeks ago, but then I started to take Biotin to grow my hair. I take 2500mcg per day, which is a pretty high dose. And then I had a breakout - my skin went to what it was like before I started the regimen. I've seen effects of Biotin already, so I decided to stop taking it for now, and take it from time to time in the future instead taking it daily. I will stop taking it altogether for the next week to test whether Biotin is causing the breakout. It can be a menstrual breakout too, I'm not sure. We'll see.
It's been two and a half weeks with the regimen. Things are going just as Dan predicted: 1st week = sight improvement, 2nd week = perhaps a breakout, 3rd week = continuous improvement. This week is a long travel: ~48 hours on my way in and out airports. I was almost sure that I will have a breakout from the lack of good rest. But I didn't! There is not new acne forming for the whole week, and I think the regimen contributed 100% to it. In the past, I would get breakout when I sleep after 3 am. And now I don't get that at all. Things are going well and smooth. Now I'm basically just repeating the routine every morning and night and wait for the dark marks to fade. It would probably take months but that's ok Glad I've found something that actually works and is very affordable at the same time. Thanks Dan!
One week on the regimen! What happened: I've already doubled the dose of BP during the first week. Works fine. Sometimes I apply 2 layers, sometimes just one. I had a very minor breakout (2 pimples), but they disappeared faster than usual. However I think I need to be more gentle and probably use more BP. Still, only 2 pimples in a whole week is better than what I used to get. I start to mix 10% AHA (Dan's) into the moisturizer. The first time I tried 50:50, and it hurt and I had some redness. Now I'm using something like 30:70 and it works great. Solves my whitehead problem (I used to get a lot of whiteheads right after washing my face). Guess they exfoliate well. What's next: Be more gentle. It's hard in the morning, because I'm in a hurry to catch the train to work and I share the bathroom with other people. Try get up earlier! (This morning, I only used AHA+moisturizer, because I didn't have time to wait for BP to dry.) Use a whole finger worth of BP. I think it helps preventing acne. Use Kiehl's midnight recovery concentrate sometimes. Carrot juice = Vitamin A. Orange and most fruits = Vitamin C. Good for skin! I guess I'll keep using this routine and see what happens after another week. And after next week I'll be going back to China. The change of environment may result in a breakout and I'm prepared for it.
Gradually adding the amount of BP I use, since the problems mentioned in the regimen (dryness, redness, itchiness) didn't really happen. Maybe a little redness, but I can't tell if that's my acne or the effect of BP. The effect I'm seeing is that some pimples that were forming up are going down really quickly, and that makes me happy! I used to use some Kiehl's products, including the "Acne Blemish Control Daily Skin-Clearing Treatment". That thing has some effect on making pimples disappear but doesn't always work. Plus a little tube (1 oz) cost $30, gosh! There was a bottle of blue water called Blue Herbal Lotion from Kiehl's which had some effect as well. However 2-3 Kiehl's product would cost my as much as the whole Regimen Kit Plus... this is ridiculous. Not criticizing Kiehl's, they do have some really nice and affordable products like the Midnight Recovery Concentrate (the little dark blue bottle), #1 Lip Balm, their SPF 50 sunscreen (not greasy at all!), Amino Acid Shampoo and Conditioner (so good!). Anyway, I guess my point is that Kiehl's is a great skincare brand, but their acne products are EXPENSIVE and aren't effective enough. I haven't tried other acne-focused brand like Proactiv since I didn't hear good reviews about it. I saw how people here complain Proactiv is a total rip-off though To conclude, BP is working in terms of flatening out pimples that are forming. My skin appear smoother without any other skincare product, this is good. However I do get A LOT OF WHITEHEAD after I wash my face. I tried REALLY hard not to pick them or pull them all one by one since that would break the regimen! They disappear after I apply BP though, so not too bad. Third day, already seen effects
Received the Regiment Kit today. Started using the jojoba oil to remove the BB cream I had on earlier this morning. First time trying jojoba oil actually, I used to use olive oil but don't like the smell. Then I washed my face, applied treatment, as gently as possible. Didn't notice too much redness or itchiness, for some reason. It feels pretty dry though. I have oily & combination skin so I seldom feel this dry. Will apply moisturizer afterwards. We'll see what happens!
