The horribleness of "the flaky period" is upon me in full force. My skin is really hard to ignore and I've been seriously considering how much scraping off my skin would hurt for the last few hours. I've never really scraped off my skin, so I can't really decide whether the pain would be greater than the itchiness (I'm also afraid that at this point, I would prefer the pain). I am really piling on the moisturizer and jojoba oil, but there seems to be no escape. My eyes itch, I think from the pro
As you'll notice from the title, I'm cramming three days' worth of updates into one post. I was deep in hibernation after finals and unwilling to move much for the last day or so and that's why I neglected this blog which I promised myself would be updated daily. Anywho. In my last post, I said that I had broken out quite a bit on my neck and right below my jawline- Basically, as close to the main "face area" as possible. To compensate for this, I started applying benzyol peroxide to about halfw
So I found the solution to the extremely uncomfortable skin problem. Someone somewhere (thank you so much, Sir/Madam) mentioned that exfoliating with jojoba oil before the treatment step was a good way of keeping dry skin at bay, however I was a bit worried that doing that would influence the effectiveness of the benzoyl peroxide afterward. Instead, I used a very generous amount of jojoba oil and massaged it into my skin before doing the cleanser step. I let the jojoba
So I have a theory that my acne has a really bad case of separation anxiety. Also, I think that there are some real superheroes among them who keep trying to fight the bp by setting up camps on the outskirts of my face, vigilantly awaiting any chance to ambush. I say this because I've been getting some painful singles on my neck and one just manifested on the very edge of my face, close to my right ear (a real brave'un). Like- out of nowhere! Must be a ninja... The new pimples are not visible, b
Yeah, If Dr. Who episodes weren't so long, and I so inclined to watch them, I'd be a much more productive blogger. There really isn't much to say today, so I forgive myself and deem my Dr. watching a noble and deeply enjoyable pastime. The Regimen happenings of the day are as follows: I really want to be adjusted to the full amount of benzyol peroxide by the time classes start (about 20 days from now- YIKES!), so last night, I upped the amount of bp I'm using by half a finger's length. The goal
Since last I wrote, I let you guys know that I started using about half a finger's length more of benzyol peroxide than usual, so I am using 3/4 of the ideal amount, which would be two finger's length. *I guess I was never really precise in describing what "a finger's length actually means", so here goes. I ordered the 8oz treatment so it doesn't come with the pump. Those of you that have the pump know that the amount you're working up to is two pumps. I sort of very freely assumed that the amou
I just ordered some jojoba oil and AHA, so that's happening. In other news, I've been using the full amount of benzyol peroxide for about a week now and lemme tell you- The improvement is evident. I swear to Zeus I only have one almost-gone pimple. Okay, this may be tmi for some of you, but it is of relative importance to note that I am on my period and this is the amount of active acne I have. One pimple.
This is unbelievable. It's amazing and wonderful and awesome and all good things!
So excited to finally try out the regimen. I ordered the cleanser, treatment, and moisturizer from acne.org (I already have some jojoba oil) and I just finished washing, cleansing, and treating my skin. Because I've only applied the system once, I can't really talk about the effectiveness yet. I can however, talk about everything else. The time it takes to finish with the entire process is around 40 minutes. I'm thinking that I'll have to take that time into consideration when I do the regimen i
I didn't feel or see any difference in my skin this morning and I wasn't expecting to either. However, since my skin was not overly dry from the benzyol peroxide I used last night, I went ahead and used the same amount (see Day 1) as yesterday both morning and night.
My skin finally started to feel a little dry today, not uncomfortable in any way, just a mild tightness all over my face which was taken care of with a few drops of jojoba oil. I also got two new pimples in places I normally don't break out, inside my eyebrow and above my lip. I know that there is supposed to be a "purging period", so I'm not worried. Plus I'm used to breaking out. I used the amount of benzyol peroxide used to cover the entire length of my index finger during my night applicatio
I went ahead and used a full finger's length of benzyol peroxide morning and night. Perhaps I went too fast, but it's done now. The condition of my skin today was as follows: Skin feels rough and the dryness is definitely kicking in, especially around my eyes and mouth. I'm not seeing any flaking yet, but the dryness is causing the very surface of my facial skin to be tight and move unnaturally when I contort my expression. I'm pretty sure that this tightness is what precedes the flaking period.
My skin today was extremely uncomfortable. It's not yet flaking but it is cracked, dry, and almost unbearibly itchy. My skin feels like it is covered with one huge rash. It is the weekend, so I did not go outside. Neither do I plan to as my skin is not eye-friendly. I have not increased the amount of benzyol peroxide, still using the amount used to cover my index finger. I'm really becoming fond of the jojoba oil though because it really adds moisturizing power to Dan's formula. I'm dreading tom
Last night I really drenched my skin in jojoba oil before going to bed and slept face up for as long as I was aware of my body's position. I think that the foresight of last night really helped my skin's condition this morning- It felt a lot more comfortable immediately after waking up. That being said, after the morning regimen, my skin continued to get dry throughout the day and I finally saw the notorious flakes I'd been dreading. I also got two new pimples, one right in the middle of what us
I tend to overdo stuff. Over-think, over-talk, over-write, over-listen to favorite songs, and over-do. My transition from "a pea-sized amount" of benzyol peroxide to a full finger's length amount was not subtle, which is why I may be dealing with the hellish condition my skin is in now. Anywho. It's too late to go back now and I won't reduce the amount of benzyol peroxide I'm using because I've read that it will only increase the duration of "flaky period" (really, that phrase should be followed
Hello acne.org friends!
I am so sorry (assuming anyone here was waiting for a follow-up) that I haven't posted in fo'evs!
As I mentioned in my previous (what was that, a thousand years ago?) post, I was moving, starting classes, working, etc.
Anywho. I made a video yesterday about my 'acne story' and I will provide the link below. It includes some updates about how my skin is doing on the regimen.
Until the next post,

My internet has been a butt lately, but thankfully my university library isn't far. Today, the focus of my update will be all of the rule's I've totally not followed on DKR plus some things I've noticed since starting the full amount of bp. Okay, so I went into this thinking that I would follow every rule and never deviate from Dan's meticulously specific directions. The fact is- Life happened.
I don't think I've ever been as gentle as Dan suggests. I don't scrub, but
I am in the process of moving and I'll be uploading a video about my progress on the regimen as soon as chaos become relatively non-existant. I'm eight days away from starting fall term and I think my skin is adjusted to the full amount of bp by now (no, I don't feel as calm as that sentence would have you think). I am getting clearer and clearer every day and since there aren't any "bumps" on my skin anymore (just hyperpigmentation), I can achieve a clear look wearing only concealer. I've been
