So my skin is VERY different from when I started accutane. For the past 2 weeks I have been moved up my dosage. RECAP-- (If you're new--read my other posts) -30 mg for 2 weeks -60 mg for 1.5 weeks--too much too soon--BAD Initial Breakout -30 mg odd days, 60 mg even days for 1.5 weeks ***60 mg every day for the past 2 weeks Moving Up Doses Had SOME Side Effects: ((Went from 30 on odd days to 60 on even days)) to 60mg every day. ***DO NOT FREAK OUT FROM THIS LIST-
I'm pretty excited because I am officially done with my 1st month on Accutane. Beginning Dosage I did like 2 weeks taking one 30mg pill per day, but then my derm bumped me up to one 30mg pill per day, and 2 30mg pills every other day. (so 30mg total on odd days, 60mg total on even days). Initial Breakout I think going up this much was too fast in the first few weeks because my skin had a pretty BAD initial breakout. The breakout itself wasn't terrible, but the redness was AWFUL.
Okay, so recap-- I am only 3 weeks into Accutane, but I started at a pretty medium dosage (30mg once/day). Then after a couple of weeks, I bumped up to 30mg once/day on odd calendar days and 60mg once/day on even calendar days. I think it might have been a bit too much too soon for my skin, and I had an initial breakout (which was made a lot worse by my hormones going crazy too). Before my initial breakout: Pores were much more visible Tons of blackheads on nose and surround
Hey I'm wondering if anyone has advice on how to heal very recent red marks from acne while on Accutane? I've been using toner, Aveeno clear complexion moisturizer, Olay regenerist moisturizer, and Vitamin E, and they're helping but nothing's really healing the red mark. I know most of this is due to the Accutane slowing the healing process, but if people have advice--I'm all ears! I will just have to dab on a bit of concealer over the red marks in the meantime...otherwise I'd be
My skin still isn't looking that great..but the 2 huge red marks are slowly healing after applying toner and moisturizer to them for the past few days. I have a couple red marks on my forehead, which I'm less worried about because I could always cover those with my hair or a hat or something. But I'm hoping those go away too. I only have one active, small, painful zit at the very top of my forehead near my hair line. I'm hoping and praying that these marks heal mostly by Wednesday m
So I know this might sound stupid or weak, but I stayed home today...mostly because of my acne. I knew that for my recent acne red marks/ scabs to heal, I had to moisturize them and not wear makeup.. I just couldn't bear to even slap on makeup and go through my whole day making my face worse (potentially). This is why I hate acne...It makes me cowardly and so self-conscious. I'm really hoping that this 2nd week was my Initial Breakout (kind of like last time) and that now that my (ov
Hey everyone... So I took my first pill of 60mg today. It was fine, but I could tell my face and lips were a bit more dry. But I am in need of major encouragement because of the crazy number of red marks all over my face :/ It's really, really disheartening to put concealer on like 10+ red marks on my face just to feel comfortable going outside. I can tell some are healing, but there are 2 that are pretty red and stubborn...and might take a week or more just to look semi-normal.
So, if you are just starting to read my blog, I'm back on Accutane because I only did 3 months at 40mg before. Previous 3 Month Experience with Accutane I was on Accutane from the end of July to October (about 3 months) when I had an issue with a failed birth control method. My derm wanted me to go off Accutane for a couple of months until we knew that I would not have issues with taking it again. I was disappointed at the time, because it truly was an accident, but I completely understo
I finished the end of Week 2 a couple of days ago and not much has happened since. I got a couple of small pimples/ blackheads that came and went away. Right now I only have 3 tiny red marks from clogged pores that are healing and going away. My skin hasn't been that dry yet, but has been less oily, which is nice. Same with my hair, but only a bit. I'll let you know if more happens!
ITCH NO MORE! I have been taking 40mg of Accutane (one pill) per day. Tomorrow will be Day 10. I have experienced a bit of dryness so far in my hair and scalp, lips, eyes, and face. I watched about 30 Accutane diary videos, have read more than 50 Accutane blogs, and have spoken with my dermatologist about products to use while on Accutane to combat the side effects--especially dryness. So if your scalp is itching like crazy and you're sitting next to a tube of chapstick, don't worry. Just
At first, I mis-counted. It's Day 7, which means week one is done! Woo! I have been taking Accutane (one 40mg pill per day) for 7 days and not much has happened. I had a few tiny whiteheads that came and went away. My lips got a bit more dry (but I already constantly use chapstick). Other than that, I haven't felt barely any side effects. My face is fairly clear, except for one healing spot in the center above my top lip. Is the Accutane working yet? Or, does it take longer than 6 d
I am on Day 2 of Accutane. I took 1 40 mg pill with breakfast this morning. So far, I haven't experienced much of anything in the way of side effects. I did have a bit of a headache after taking my pill yesterday morning, but it felt more like a brain freeze and went away after a few minutes. Here is what I'm using in the way of skin, body, lip, and eye products while on Accutane: -Aquaphor for lips -CeraVe Cleansing Lotion (Have been using for 2 months) -CeraVe Pump Moisturizer (Ha
I took my first pill of Accutane this morning with breakfast! Eeek! I'm nervous. I took 1 40mg pill with a protein bar, yogurt, and huge glass of water because the protein bar has some fat in it, which helps your body absorb the Accutane. My derm prescribed me to take 1 40mg pill once a day (with breakfast) for the first month. Then, after the first month, I will be back at school and my derm there will continue the treatment. I am really, really scared for the initial breakout, honestly.
So, I'm annoyed. I messed with a zit and now I have a fairly big red mark on the right side of my chin. And what makes me feel worse than the acne is the fun I miss out on because I'm not willing to slap on a ton of coverup to go outside and sit in the sun. I'm telling myself that it's actually better to put on moisturizer and let my skin breathe instead of sitting in the sun, but still. ugh. I hate acne. A month ago this one red mark and a few tiny healing spots wouldn't have phased me a ton. B
So, if you're a male, I suggest you veer away from this particular blog post. I've been doing this skin care regimen consisting of an oral antibiotic, topical antibiotic, topical retinoid, benzoyl peroxide face wash, and cerave gentle cleanser and moisturizer for about a month now and I really, really like it. My face is SO much more clear. It's crazy how clogged my pores were--I always had dark pores or blackheads or even very little white bumps/clogged pores. Now, my face is so smooth--I
My skin is looking a lot better. My pores are almost entirely clear, except for a few near my nose. So what's the problem? Red and dark marks. For some reason--maybe it's my antibiotic, the benzoyl peroxide facewash I use once a day (Panoxyl 4%) or the topicals (Atralin; Topical Antibiotic) I'm using, but each time I get a small red mark or scratch, it takes foreverrrrr to heal and go away. What the heck? Anyone have ideas? suggestions? I'm annoyed that my pores are real
I posted about the skin care regimen that I am currently using (as prescribed by my dermatologist) until I can get Accutane and I am absolutely loving it! My pores are much, much smaller and the dirt/ oil/ blackheads are all gone (except for a few on my nose). I don't have any new acne, just two small red marks from previous blemishes. Here's the regimen: AM -Take oral antibiotic--100 mg Minocycline -Wash face with 4% Benzoyl Peroxide face wash (PanOxyl brand) and leave on for 1
So I think I had an initial breakout on this skin care regimen because my pores were getting rid of dirt/oil. But, my face is actually fairly clear besides a couple of small red marks that are easily hidden with concealer. I don't really like that my face feels a bit tight after using the PanOxyl wash in the morning, but since it has Benzoyl Peroxide in it, that is to be expected. After take my oral antibiotic, I apply a bit of the topical antibiotic to my entire face and let it dry. Then, I app
So I've been using a new skin care regimen prescribed by my dermatologist for the next month or so until I can start Accutane. Before the regimen, my face was actually starting to clear up. Now, I think my skin had an initial breakout on this regimen because my pores were getting rid of built-up dirt/ oil. I have one small cyst/ zit? on my right jawline, another red mark near it, and healing red marks on the left side of my chin and right cheek. I'm somewhat annoyed and discouraged, but I'm thin
Hey everyone! I have watched dozens of YouTube videos about people and their Accutane journeys, talked with friends who have taken Accutane, and talked with my dermatologist about products to use while on Accutane and I figured I would share the list of possible products. While on Accutane you are not to use any type of acne-related skin care product or regimen. Your face becomes very dry and delicate, so you are to use gentle, moisturizing, non-comodogenic cleansers, moisturizers, e
Part of me can't believe that I will be taking Accutane in a month or so (hopefully). I am so ready for this. So, why am I finally deciding to take Accutane? My Acne History I am 21 years-old and have had acne for over 10 years now. I had terrible acne at the end of middle school, and also in high school. I had very few time spans when I did not have active zits of some form of acne on my face. I don't believe I've ever had a completely clear complexion (free of black hea
