I'm one happy chappette...
can tell you now that I have stopped taking all my vitamins, started eating dairy again (om nom nom), and my skin is clear! woop woop! I get the obligatory spot or two around about the same time each month when I stop taking my pill, so I guess that's hormone related, but apart from that it's improved so much. Loads of my family and friends have noticed that my skin looks a lot better
I'm not red at all now iv'e switched and been using Dan's BP for a while now. I really reccomend just getting it straight away- it's worth the money.
I'm currently using Dans cleanser too but about to try swapping it in for a botanics one to see how that goes as I can buy that in Boots.
Still using Simple kind to skin hydrating light moisturiser and it works a charm.
trying the simple kind to skin vital vitamin night cream now as well for an extra moisture booooost.
I haven't been very good with my 10-12 hours apart timings as I have been in ibitha and all sorts so my sleep schedule has been a bit off...
but seems no worse for the wear so thats good!
will put an update picture in my gallery soon....
Good luck everyone!
Give it a try, it was the only thing that worked for me after dealing with bad skin for about 10 years!
I have been a bit lazy with updating this. So it turns out 2.5% full dosage is not the same as 5% half dosage.
maybe the formulas have changed, maybe the fact that i went from cream to gel, maybe the fact that my cream was probably a bit old....but when I started using the 2.5% gel it was a nightmare! I had to essentially start from square 1. RED AGAIN. and SO peely.
Bonus though is that my skin has cleared again, had a mini break out (also coincided with a HUGE plate of super cheesy nachos) so clearly dairy free IS a good idea.
Bad news- my 2.5% gel tube has very nearly run out now! 40g tubes clearly not a good plan here. Seeing as it is out of stock nearly EVERYWHERE even when you order online, I have decided to buy Dans BP. Hopefully it will arrive QUICK! otherwise I will be back at square one again!
Hopefully it will also not make me as peely or red a panoxyl.
The other bonus is I will have 8oz of it so won't have to worry about replacing it for a while!
Seeing as I was going to get a new cleanser anyway I bought dans too. I am really happy with my moisturiser (simple hydrating light moisturiser)- and have stocked up a lot so am leaving that as is for now.
Hopefully the cleanser will be less drying than the current no.7 for oily skin one I am using.
Feel like I am getting there- and learning a lot about my skin and products along the way.
If Dan's BP arrives in good time and I don't react badly to it then I will start using my AHA moisturiser to get rid of my scarring (and freckles!)
I bought simple protecting light suncream (suggest on message boards) for my face for the summer. (spf 25 and 50) If it doesn't break me out I will rave about it later- as I have NEVER found a suncream that doesn't make me spotty!
(but until a few weeks ago I would have said the same things about moisturiser!)
I will get round to some pictures soon. I did take some last week, I just haven't uploaded them yet. I finish my job on Friday, (wooo!) so hopefully will get a chance then. Maybe I will be less stressed and that will make my skin better too!
So week 3. Pictures will go in my gallery some point today or tomorrow when I get a chance.
I got my jojoba oil in the post. PERFECT. does the job. flakiness issue gone. To be fair it was mildly resolving itself, but the jojoba oil got rid of it completely after 2 days of use.
The best bit about the jojoba oil- I now only have to moisturise once during the day- no more multiple trips to the bathroom to stick my face back on...gross.
I'm using 3 "drops" (place bottle on palm, tip upside-down, then the right way up- as it doesn't have a dropper top) in the morning and about 5 "drops" in the evening.
I was really REALLY picking at my flakes before- which was causing a lot of irritation. I couldn't stop myself, so it is really good that this is gone now.
My redness has gone down a lot, my spots that I got in week two are healing up, and there don't appear to be too many new ones.
Generally I am really really pleased this week. So much to think that when my 2.5% panoxyl arrives i'm not sure I want to use it as the 5% cream is working so nicely!
I found a moisturiser called "fade out" original cream, after week 4 I will start using this as it has AHA in it so can't yet..- Hopefully I won't go too red, and hopefully it will get fid of some of my scars/ freckles, and stop all the flakiness.
This morning I was a bit brain dead and started putting my moisturiser on before my panoxyl...so had to wash it off and start again...oops.
Seeing as I have had success with my products here are some links:

As my flakiness issues have stopped I am not bothered by the dryness of the cleanser, (or if it was even made worse by that at all I don't know)
However I will probably change my cleanser sooon anyway as I don't think I can afford to spend that much all the time as I am nearly half way through the bottle all ready!
But then again, it works so...
I'm anxious now, as I really want this to work but don't want to get my hopes up... and I just have this feeling it's going to stop working, but I really don't want it to!
WARNING- LONG FIRST POST!
I am fairly new to the site, and once I had started reading round I thought I should give the regime a go.
I had been prescribed benzoyl peroxide before by my doctors, but gave up when it made my skin so dry! especially using soap before hand as suggested!
I recently went back to see if they had invented a new miracle cure. sadly not. I genuinely cried when I came out the doctors as I felt hopeless, and it just wasn't FAIR. Once I got a grip and stopped being so self absorbed and realised how lucky I was for other things in my life I cheered up. but still.
Before coming on here I never used moisturiser on my face as I believed they ALL gave me spots.
I never wore foundation make-up as it made me spotty too!
I will post some "before" pictures soon.- Note these were taken when my skin was improved temporarily from taking a supplement- I later dropped it as it stopped working and was expensive.
I will also put up some pictures of my skin now once I have taken them!
My spots mostly come up on my cheeks, jaw line, and some on my forehead.
My aim would be to get clear enough skin that i can wear make-up, not worry, not pick, and just be like everyone else!
SO. I bought:
Cleanser- No.7 foaming cleanser for oily skin.- I may change this as I believe it is a bit too drying.
Treatment- (had some panoxyl 5% cream left over so thought I would give it a go.)- definitly works, but very drying. I have some panoxyl 2.5% gel in the post off amazon now as the pharmacists all say it is being dicontinued?!?
Moisturiser- simple hydrating light moisturiser & simple vitamin night cream. (The night cream is good, but makes my face more red)
Jojoba oil- In the post from amazon, as I am really suffering from flakey red skin now. Should arrive next week.
So my routine follows the regime except I am currently using panoxyl 5% cream (half the volume recommended) with wet hands so I can spread it better.
Week 1- very dry flakey skin, not very red, but craking when my face moved! more pleasant than previous experience with BP as I could moisturise! Made the mistake of putting BP too close to my eyes. OUCH!
spots definitly decreased, no new ones arriving! wow!
Week 2- same issues with dry skin, cheeks much better, neck is now very dry and flakey. Started taking 30mg zinc, omega fish oil (1000mg), probiotic multivitamin. Should also mention I am on cilest the contraceptive, (have been for 4 and a half years), and have taken dairy out my diet (apart from the ocasional treat! hehehe)
I also try to eat low GI foods, get my 5 a day etc etc you know the drill.
I am very red this week! I want to put foundation on to cover it up a bit as I look sun-burnt, but avoiding it so far as I know it will only make me spotty!
I had/ have a couple of new spots come up- but they are not as big, red, or painful as before, and are going more quickly (touch wood!)
Stinging! face is sore and tight. But. MY SKIN IS CLEAR. (mostly...)
If the redness and peeling does not reduce with the jojoba and going down to 2.5% then I will try some sudocrem as apparently this is good. Not sure where to put it in the regime though...or that I should even be adding new things this early (I know I shouldn't)
The other option is adding in AHA- but I can't do that too soon... I think I must just be patient.
Also I would like to try a cream to reduce scarring (and freckles!) as they aren't cute now i'm 21.
Overall mood: generally very pleased as it has worked so quickly- but worried about the side effects not calming down. Hopeful for 2.5% BP and jojoba oil.
*EDIT* - I have put my photos in my gallery so you can see them there. especially my red face!
