over this. apparently the clogged pores on my forehead are never going away, ever. i have a new one in the very center of my forehead, and a few more on the left side that i thought was looking better.
plus side: my skin is smoother? so my makeup looks not horrible? esp on the bottom half of my face. stupid forehead. maybe i should get bangs again.
weekend update! haha i'm not totally sue what i'm using this blog for anyway. i feel like my skin just goes in waves...some days i feel good about it, some days i don't. i guess i'm just hoping that i'll track the progress until week 12 when i can say it's good and stays good! i'm getting a few more clogged pores around my mouth...and a few on my cheeks. that's been the weirdest part i think...i used to just get random little bumps on my cheeks like far back, not on the apples. but now i get mor
looks like everything is calming down from my period-related breakout, just clogged pores on my forehead/cheeks and just a couple on my chin. my skin feels smoother though, and there are definitely parts that look better texture-wise than before. i do think that retin-a is definitely better than atralin for me; i just can't wait to see at 12 weeks whether it .04 is strong enough. i'm going on a trip to europe! for work in a couple weeks, and i would love to not have to worry about my skin/wear
today is 5 weeks of retin-a every night, plus two weeks of using it every other night. the inflamed whitehead by my mouth from yesterday is gone, but another in the exact same place on the other side of my mouth has appeared. i still have lots of clogged pores on my forehead and some by my mouth...but maybe around my mouth by my chin looks smoother? my cheeks also look really smooth, but i've never had a problem there. my forehead looks pretty much the same. not a ton of new clogged pores, but t
my skin is less dry than yesterday since i switched back to my normal non-salicylic acid cleanser. some of the clogged pores on my forehead (not the ones that seem to be permanent, just the ones that have popped up in the last week or so) seem to be calming down a bit, as are some of the chin ones. i have a red small bump by the corner of my mouth. if the clogged pores keep coming and going like this (no whitehead, little inflammation) i could probably handle it...
getting prettyyyy bored with this! over the weekend i tried this borba pore perfecting treatment which i LOVED. not totally sure what the name is but you put on a layer of microcrystals then this serum that gets kind of warm. my skin looked so even, even though the clogged pores were still there. but this morning, since my derm had suggested i try a salicylic acid face wash (he suggested gly-sal 2-2 which is 2% salicylic acid), i gave the aveeno clear complexion foaming wash a shot. since my der
the inflamed clogged pores seem to be calming down, but are def still there. i read somewhere else that weeks 4/5 are the worst, which is what i'm right in the middle of now. i also have an inflamed pimple on my chin that will prob turn into a whitehead pretty soon. some parts of my skin look pretty smooth, but when you get close up you can see all these bumps and a gross texture. i just hate how bumpy everything is. maybe that means the retin-a is clearing out my skin...who knows. i just hate t
i have a new little pimple by my mouth, and another on my chin. beyond that, just the same clogged pores on my forehead and cheeks. i've almost done 4 weeks of retin-a every night, and 6 weeks since i started using it. wondering when i'll see some results...
welll my skin looks about the same. i think i went a little overboard with the aczone this morning, because i look a little powdery. sooo awesome. i have some clogged pores around my mouth/cheeks, and of course on my forehead! it seems like week 2 was the worst of the initial breakout so far, which was not that bad, but it kind of makes me nervous that this retin-a isn't doing anything. i'm wondering if the layers of skin that are left to thin out are the most stubborn ones, since the atralin co
my derm suggested using aczone during the day to help control some oil, and i think it's workng. my clogged pores on my forehead haven't gone anywhere, and i have a couple red small bumps on the right side of my cheek. it's not so bad, but i just cannot get these clogged pores to disappear. if i don't see them moving by 12 weeks, i'm bumping up the strength of the retin-a. or i guess i could try the retin-a .1 just on my forehead? i might do that...
officially hate my derm and need another one. after waiting OVER AN HOUR to see him last night for our ten minute appointment, i told him i felt like i had a lot of clogged pores. he looked at me and said "well, most people would love to have your skin. but if you've already been on accutane, which isn't an option now, your skin won't be perfect, and there's not really anything else i can do". i get that my skin isn't bad, but there's definitely some things i'm not comfortable with, which i poin
going to the derm today! my skin is about the same as yesterday. a couple of the clogged pores around my mouth appear less inflamed, but there are still a bunch of them on my chin and around my forehead, particularly on the left side of my chin. if i'm looking in the right light everything just looks so bumpy and gross. in most lights it prob looks fine? i'm still really oily and i'm sure that doesn't help. fingers crossed that the derm is helpful...
today i've finished up my second month of spiro, and i'm seeing my derm tomorrow. i definitely have more clogged pores around my mouth/chin, but they seem smaller somehow...like they're come up above the surface so you can see them better, but they're smaller. i still have clogged pores on my forehead, and honestly i'm not sure if those are doing anything different. on the plus side, i don't have any inflamed acne at this point (knock on wood!) i think the spiro really helps with that. but these
this retin-a better start working quick. the weird cyst from yesterday is gone...so bizarre. i have a bunch of clogged pores around the left corner of my mouth, a couple plus an inflamed whitehead on the right corner, and a couple inflamed clogged pores above my lip. so pretty. i NEVER got clogged pores this bad on atralin, so i'm really hoping this means they're purging. right? is there any way to actually tell if you're purging? good news, i'm not peely at all. so at least my makeup doesn't lo
today i'm feeling pretty bad about my skin. several of the clogged pores and one on my forehead have turned into pimples, and i have what maybe is a small cyst? on my chin? i haven't gotten cysts in YEARS. it doesn't hurt or anything so maybe it's just a big inflamed underground pimple. then a couple clogged pores above my lip have gotten inflamed too. with makeup on everything doesn't look so bad...but that never actually makes me feel any better. i still have to see my skin (and so does my boy
update: i'm at work and looked in the mirror, and saw a big red itchy bump on my chin. i've gotten these before, and they don't come to a head ever, they're usually almost entirely gone in a day or so. so i dabbed a little bp on it (yes, i carry bp. lame.) and within 20 minutes or so the redness has gone down and it looks just like a little bump. i was doing some searching on this site, and apparently this is a pretty common complaint. from what i understand, it could be due to irritation or an
clogged pores everywhereeee. i will say that since i started spiro, i have had only a few inflamed whiteheads around my mouth, even leading up to my period. that's awesome. howeverrrrr, now my main problem is these clogged pores and the overall texture of my skin. i look in the mirror at all these crazy angles (i know, i know, i knowwww) and i see these tiny little bumps that i HATE. i'm wondering if with the witch hazel/pro x brush i'm overexfoliating? i really hate not knowing what's working/n
2 weeks of this blog! haha the longer i post, the closer i am to seeing results...right? i'm not sure about my skin today. i was reading on someone else's blog that this website makes you overanalyze your skin like crazyyy, and it's definitely true. over the weekend i got a few more clogged pores on my forehead and around my mouth. i've been using witch hazel the past couple days in the morning since it's supposed to balance your skin a little bit, and i think the olay pro-x brush is a little dr
today marks 1 week of using retin-a every night, and 3 weeks since i first started using it. sometimes i think my skin already looks much better, and other times i think it looks about the same. right now i have a small pimple on my chin, and one on my jawline...i think this comes from the spiro (which by the way has really messed with my period). overall i think my skin looks okay, but it is still somewhat oily with lots of clogged pores on the forehead. i'm still getting a few flakes around my
i'm super glad that, even though i'm exfoliating in the morning and using the retin a at night, when i wake up in the morning my skin isn't flaking off! i actually don't mind how it looks. today is about the same as yesterday--i had a small pimple above my eyebrow from last friday or so that i think is gone. my forehead still have some clogged pores but i think it looks smoother? my mom says that if you have to look that hard for something, no one else will even notice it, so i hope no one else
happy monday! just a quick update. my skin seems to be really loving the lack of bp...it's must less dry and flaky. i use the olay pro x brush in the morning on the gentle setting, and that seems great too. i had been using a little face brush that you used by hand (it was like earth therapeutics or something like that) and i think it was just too harsh. i'm wondering if at least part of the clogged pore problem was because of products that were too harsh. right now the bottom half of my face ag
my skin got so dry by yesterday afternoon i had to put a bunch of lotion on and just leave it without makeup. i really hope other people don't notice this stuff as much as i do. i know most people see your entire face, while when i look in a mirror i focus on the parts i know are broken out or don't look so good. my forehead looks a little worse...a few more clogged pores seem to be coming out (i hope). i'm so curious about whether my initial breakout comes sooner/if it actually takes a full 12
skipped the bp this morning except on my forehead because my skin was just too dry. not much has changed except for a few more clogged pores on my forehead that seem to be emerging...escaping?? i hope so, because this hasn't really happened with any other topicals. when i started atralin my skin seemed to get thinner, but the texture on my forehead was still bumpy and oily. right now there's a little row of tiny bumps horizontally across my forehead...so cute. i think they're pretty much covered
