Completely Clear Skin...still :)

It's been a long while since i last posted but that's because there hasn't been much to report. My skin hasn't had any breakouts except for around that time of the month i maybe get one. I have long since stopped doing the regimen other than to spot treat with BP. So far still using cetaphil cleanser and lotion and ACV as a toner but i've added in retina at night to help with the scarring. It has helped loads. My skin was so bad i never thought it could look like this again, but don't lose hope. If you're struggling with acne it's a medical condition. I happened to be allergic to gluten and never knew. It might be something else for you but eventually you will figure it out. It's a long and grueling process of elimination but keep at it because it's worth it!!!!

Clear Skin :)

So I've been Gluten Free for about 2 months now, i think This is the clearest my skin has been in over a year. The only thing i miss is the Guiness Here's my new regimen a.m./p.m. regimen- wash with Cetaphil cleanser tone with Apple Cider Vinegar apply benzoyl peroxide moisturize with Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream Currently taking: Womens multivitamin Biotin (for hair) Zinc (for hair and skin) Calcium Magnesium (to help the biotin) apple cider vinegar (1 tsp. in 1 cup water) 3X daily I have noticed huge results, my skin is completely clear aside from a few red marks but the ACV is getting rid of those quick. My hair is still thinning which is devastating but i can do nothing about it so i'm just gonna look forward to clearer and clearer skin. For everyone out there who feels like they've tried EVERYTHING (and probably has, I know i did) and nothing is working, keep looking. There is a process out there for everyone. Going gluten free was the last thing i thought would work because gluten never made me sick and my skin was clear until 2 years ago. I had always eaten gluten and never before had bad skin. But your body changes, things you could used to tolerate become intolerable. If antibiotics and topicals haven't worked for you then i suggest just trying it, you'll know in two weeks if it's worked. If it hasn't then don't continue, but if it has i garuntee you will gladly cut gluten out forever to have the results i have. See for yourself, these pics are a little over 3 months old from when my skin was bad until now.

Progress With The Regimen

So I've noticed a huge difference, like unbelievable difference with the regimen and being gluten free. I've been doing the regimen for a month now, maybe a little longer and i've been gluten free for almost 3 weeks. Holy cow it's amazing. I have a ton of red marks on my face right now but only 2 pimples and they are going away so fast. Gone are the days of my under the skin painful cystic acne. I cannot begin to describe my relief but also frustration. I asked my doctor if i could do a food allergy test and he said that he didn't think that my acne was because of food. So I decided to try it on my own. Why didn't he reccomend this before the accutane?! I couldv'e saved myself alot of hair! Sometimes i wonder how they get a phd. Anyways, been using nioxin for about a week now and i have seen an improvement, at least it's not falling out as quickly as before. So i'll finish my rant but here's some new pics.

Accutane Hairloss

so I've been off accutane for 18 days now and the hair thinning continues. My skin is slowly getting better and better with the regimen but now i just feel really self conscious about my hair. I'm writing this as a warning for people who are taking or considering taking accutane. I specifically asked my doctor about this side effect. I had read some reviews where people had this happen. His words: "i have prescribed this medicine to hundreds of patients and have only seen this side effect a couple of times. This was in patients who already had thin or thinning hair to begin with, your hair seems pretty thick so i wouldn't even worry about it." thanks doc. I understand that I am the one who took this medication, i chose to do this knowing very well the side effects. It's not my doctors fault, i know. I just want someone to be mad at I guess. I purchased the nioxin shampoo kit and have been using it for two days. My only worry is that I have to wash my hair every day with it and my hair is already dry from the accutane. I still am not producing oils on my scalp. The part that sucks the most is that my sisters weddding is coming up in august and i'm her maid of honor. I was hoping to have clear skin for it and now i have bad skin and thin hair. My hair was my crowning glory, even when my skin was bad and i felt like crap at least i had nice hair. So just be wary and understand that this IS a side effect and it can happen to anyone, even if you have a big bushy mane of hair.

5 Days Off Accutane And Still Doing The Regimen

So sadly I had to stop accutane a few days ago because my hair was thinning so badly. Fortunately my hair seems like the thinning has slowed alot so hopefully that's the end of that. I've noticed my acne has started to come back a little, especially on my right side. I Stopped taking my birth control pills too now because they make me gain weight so i don't know if its that or the accutane that's making me break out. ( Oh well, what can you do? I'm trying to look into going gluten free, I've asked my doctor for a food allergy test and he told me that my acne doesn't look like that type. But i'm not gonna take no for an answer. I'm really dissappointed the accutane didn't work out for me but I think for some people it's a cure-all. Wish i was one of em. Hope all is going well for all of you who're struggling with the same problems as me. There's some new pics up, some with makeup and some without, have a good day everyone!

Stopping Accutane Already

It was my hair or skin and I'll choose hair everytime. Sure I would've had clear skin but I'd be bald then and trading accutane for rogane. Words cannot describe how completely disappointed I am right now. What now?

Thinning Hair?!?

ok so I've been noticing my hair thinning and at first I thought I was hallucinating but now I'm sure. It's not noticable to anyone but me yet, but I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else on accutane. If so, is it permanent? Will it keep thinning or will it stop soon? My hair is my crowning glory, If I can't have good skin I have to have good hair, and I'm not willing to lose it all over accutane! Please help!!!

Day 48 :)

So...I'm pretty pleased right now. My skin is clearing up day by day, I'm pretty sure it's thanks to the regimen, not accutane because I only noticed a difference when I started using the BP. It was like over night every pimple got smaller and has continued ever since. I'm really excited. My skin is NOWHERE near perfect, but it's better, and i'm happy with any improvement. I have only 4 actives right now (which for some seems like alot, but for me that's fricken awesome!) and a whole lotta red marks. My skin heals really quickly though, and fortunately I have never really scarred so heres to hoping they all fade away quickly. For anyone that's on accutane or not, i would reccomend trying the regimen, i only wish i would've tried it sooner. I had used BP before accutane. It was a prescription, 5% and then 10%, but i used it with a salacylic acid face wash and moisturizer. I think it was overdrying for my skin and very irritating. Using it with the cetaphil extra gentle cleanser and Moisturizing cream (not lotion) i barely have any dry spots or flakiness and i love it! So far all of my sisters have complemented me on my skin, my younger sister even got on here and bought dan's regimen kit because she said it was so different. Hopefully things keep getting better and better here's some new pics

Day 44?

So I got really frustrated the other day after a month and a half almost and no improvement. I decided to try the regimen, but with my own cetaphil face wash and moisturizer. I'm really glad i did because I already notice a difference. Before BP never worked for me, but i always took it at 10 or 5%. In the 2.5% combined with my cetaphil moisturizing cream it doesn't dry me out like before. I seriously woke up today and almost every pimple on my forehead was gone. I did a little jig in the bathroom both my sisters commented on how my skin looked a little better today. So idk, maybe when they up my dosage of accutane next month i'll be too dry to continue with the bp, but for now it's helped, thanks dan, you da bomb diggity. It's not anything crazy noticeable, but hey, i'lk take what i can get. I'm tired so here's some new pics or my sexy self...hahaha too bad you can't type sarcasam into the key board

Uugghhh...day 42

NOOOOO improvement...when will it get better? I feel like i'm destroying my body on accutane but it would be worth it if i saw some improvement. NOTHING. grrrr...i bought some BP tonight, i'm gonna do the regimen on accutane cos i feel like ok, something has to work. I wish i knew what it was that was causing all this. One year ago my skin was FINE! what changed? what am i doing differently? I wish ii could pinpoint it, then at least i would know what i needed to change. it's just really frustrating. ...oh well...no use complaining. I have a family that adores me, friends that don't even see my acne. I need to be grateful. I've never felt like a vain person until now. If ANYONE knows ANYTHING that may help or has helped them, please send me some suggestions cos i am sick of this crap

Camping At The Beach On Accutane...not Such A Good Idea

sooo...went camping this past weekend in pismo, I thought a little nature might be good for my complexion. Holy Zit was i wrong. I broke out like craaazy. It could've been caused by sitting at the campfire with smoke blowing in my face, different water, alchohol consumption or too much sun...or all of the above Oh well, it was a good time even if i'm paying for it now. The only thing that sucked was having to wear makeup. Before this crazy year of acne when we'd go camping i'd go au naturel, but even in front of my friends this time i was too embarassed. I just keep telling myself that it'll all be worth it in a few more months. Anyways, I had my one month check up on the second and got my second month of tane. My doctor didn't want to up my dosage just yet cos i weigh 119 and he said to give my body another month to adjust to it since i'm right on the edge of the weight limit? Idk, i was kinda dissapointed, but i trust him. Plus he said that sometimes when the dosage is upped you could have another IB, nooo thanks. So far no side effects other than dry lips/skin and no oil on my scalp ever. I could probably go a good 2 weeks without washing my hair, which is a theory my husband thinks is better left untested. Ok so here's some more pics. Doesn't look like theres any improvement to me. Oh and I switched my moisturizer to cetaphil moisturizing cream for really dry skin. Oh and this morning my 2 year old pointed at a zit on my head and goes "mommy, a hunter shoot you?" ahahaha, out of the mouth of babes

Not Good But Better :)

So tomorrow I go to get my first refill of accutane, hopefully they'll up my dosage! It has probably been the worst past 30 days. I couldn't see an end, things went from bad to worse. I even quit posting because I didn't see a point in reporting only the negative stuff. But things have started to look up as of late, like I said, still a long long way to go though. No cysts or big bumps on my face now, just a few small pimples and alot of red spots. I have no side effects really other than a slight headache every once in a while. Lips are dry, skins really dry. That's about it though I switched from philosophy's purity face wash to cetaphil. It saves me ten bucks a month and worked wonders. If you haven't done so yet, do it! I felt like my nice expensive face wash had to work better than a drugstore product, but take it from me. Cetaphil has done awesome things for my skin since I've been on tane. Before it broke me out but since the accutane it's helped alot. Actually, once I made the switch like 0 days ago, I noticed that's when my skin took a turn for the better. Anyways, here's some more scary pics, not as scary as the last but pretty bad nonetheless.

Day 21...things Are Turning Around Maybe?

so Maybe i'm smoking crack, but the swelling in my actives seems to have taken a drastic change over the past 2 days. It went from being the worst breakout ever, to pretty managable. I don't know maybe i'm just getting used to it but hopefully this is a turning point. No new side effects, no bad mood, no aches or pains. Just super dry lips and peely skin. I love having nice hair every day, not having to wash it but ever 3 days. My nails are really peely though and idk if this is a side effect. I've been in the sun alot lately too and i haven't gotten a sun burn, so there's some more good news. Some more pics are attatched, i always take them right after cleansing and moisturizing, so probably at the worst time ever. But it's better for you to see it how it really is and hopefully be able to notcie the changes as i continue. I think this is so hard for me because i've never had bad skin before. It only started after having my son. So to be able to watch yourself get progressively worse is a hard thing to do. i'll post some before and after pics as well. hopefully i'll get back to it one day

Day 19 And Don't Want To Leave The House.

Sooo...my face is 342568 billion times worse than it was before. Oh gosh i cried when i put my makeup on this morning. I cried when i had to go to work.I cried when I found out we were having dinner at a friends. I cried all the way there. I cried when i saw my face in his bathroom mirror. Then i cried when i got home and washed my face. I look like a psycho hose-beast. Despite all the crying I'm not depressed, lol. Actually I have been in a better mood since the accutane because finally there's an end in sight. But it's just so hard to see your face and know that other people are seeing the same thing. I never had bad acne as a teen. Maybe 2 or 3 here and there but never this. It wasn't until i had my son 2 years ago that i started breaking out and since then it's steadily gotten worse. And now i know it's just the IB but wholy crap i look like a fat hairy elephant turd. It's not only the breakout but my skin is dry and peely, I'm pale white and it just looks unhealthy. I know the pics aren't flattering at all, but hopefully you can see what it's really like now and watch the tane do it's thang. I know its not the end of the world, actually maybe i don't. my hubby told me yesterday, "there are starving children in africa!" and I said well at least they don't have acne :/ that's terrible. Don't judge me starving african children. I'm having a rough time. Here's to a better (hopefully clearer) day tomorrow. And to all those of you out there who wish you could quit your job for the next six months and hole yourself up in your house, you're not alone. PS check the gallery

Day 8

So I started accutane 8 days ago, I'm on 40mg a day and i'm 5'4 and 118lbs. I started noticing dry lips and dry skin on the third day, and since then it has gotten worse and worse. I know some people said for them it's not until about the second or third week that it starts to effect them like that, but by day 8 i'm applying aquaphor every 20 minutes. The dry lips is more of an annoyance that anything painful and the aquaphor works really well so no bigge. I did breakout worse starting on day 3 and i'm just today noticing that it's starting to calm down a bit. I don't know if this is the initial breakout or not but if it is then hopefully it'll be over soon. No aches or pains, no headache, the only thing i notice is that i clench my jaw alot..weird, anyone else have this? well hopefully it'll get better and better, can't wait til this is over with and i have a beautiful complexion!
