Well day 32 and had just been back to my GP for bloods and what I thought was going up to 30 or 40mg. My blood work was fine but I have developed eczema on my body and had 1 really bad weepy patch on my cheek (very very gross) so the doctor prescribed me some more cream to try and get it under control and she has left me on 20mg. It upset me a wee bit that I wasn't going up but she knows best I guess!
As far as the rest of my skin goes I have one active pimple that is under my eyebrow and the rest are just red marks from old pimples. I have a lot of red marks though and I haven't noticed till now how much scarring I really have.
I think my complexion looks very dull, just pale with patches of red. Make up doesn't seem to help. I don't really know what to do about it, feel a bit down but I know it will all just take time.
Really need to remove fine hair from my face but scared to use anything. Has anyone tried hair removal cream for sensitive skin?
Would love to hear about how other people are doing who are around the same stage as I am )
So am now half way through week 2. Headaches and body aches are gone )
I have been drinking about 2lts of water a day, compared to my normal of none and am feeling good about that. In regards to my skin, one side has been looking better and smoother, the other side has a large pimple that is slowly drying out and have had 2 more little pimples pop up. I notice that new pimples go away a lot faster than they used to though.
I am on a low dose of only 20mg, will be going up to 30 or 40 next month. My lips are dry and my skin is starting to dry up some more, specially on my body.
Last night I tried coconut oil on my skin, have read so many good things about it and was really excited. This morning when I woke up I had two large dry, itchy sore red patches on my cheeks. This is a reoccurring issue and it poped up in my 2nd day of accutane but with lots of moisturiser and hydrocortison cream it went away. I am wondering if it needs to come out before it gets better? My skin is currently very painful, red and ugly. Plan on staying home all day and studying!
So today I had my 8th accutane pill. I am also taking antibiotics morning and night to try and stop some of the breakout that is bound to happen. I am taking a low dosage of 20mg in the first month (I weigh 50kg) and am going up to 30mg after that, or maybe 40 depending on how I am going. So with that I'll be on tane for around 8 months in total.
Background - I am now 25 and have had acne since I was around 11. I have had periods where I had better skin, only 1 or 2 active pimples but never clear and mostly bad. I have tried all types of topical treatments, antibiotics and birth control. My doctor finally convinced me to go on accutane.
My skin is a major thing for me and it really upsets me and gets me down. Some days its a mission to even leave the house because I feel so disgusting and ugly. I'm not a terribly attractive girl anyways (its ok I can admit it) but having bad skin basically ruins my self esteem.
So far my lips and skin are drying up (especially my lips), on day 4 and 5 I spoke up with lower back pain and was achy but that has gone. I have been feeling more tired than usual and a bit headachy and sick at times but I think the sickness may be to do with the antibiotics. Although today I felt pretty good! So far in regards to my skin I have started getting more active pimples.
I am really excited to see how my skin goes on accutane and I hope the time goes quickly. I would love to hear from people in the same place in their treatment or who have been through what I have (I'm sure there is a lot of you).
