I just started my 4th week today and do not have any new pimples! For some reason this does not seem like it'll last since it rarely does but I also feel like it just might. For the past few days I've only gotten 1 new pimple at a time. Here's my before pictures from 3/29/12 to present day 4/10/12.
So far so good folks! I'm just starting my 3rd week today and noticing a big improvement for the 1st time since I've started.
1st week- Acne area was irritated and red. Old scars reappeared.
2nd week- I had a breakout as expected (had about 10 pimples at once on my forehead) but noticed whiteheads appearing much sooner than normal as well as healing after 2 days or so. My skin was getting flakier and dryer, scars turning darker (since I have darker pigment).
Beginning of 3rd week- old pimples have disappeared, less redness, scars are getting lighter, flakiness still apparent but using tons of moisturizer, which helps. Overall my forehead is looking much better altogether (fingers crossed this keeps up!)
Pictures are only 2 days apart which is pretty amazing considering the vast improvement in such a short period of time.
So I'm approaching the end of my 2nd week following the Regimen however on Day 5 of using Dan's Products. I've noticed a few things..
Forehead is getting more dry and flaky however I don't mind as much since my old pimples seem to be drying up as well.
There's also much less redness on my forehead. Old pimple scars still remain and have a brownish tint to it.
1-2 new pimples appear every 2-3 days however whiteheads appear much faster than usual and heal quicker. The lifespan of my large pimples seem to be from 3-4 days.
I admit that I do still pop the whiteheads but only prick it with a fine needlepoint (safetey pin) and get the gunk out with a q-tip. Scarring looks similar to if I left it completely alone.
I only apply BP to my forehead and notice that when using Dan's facewash and moisturizer all over my face, I find it gets quite irritated. I have incredibly sensitive skin on my face and get blotchy red dirt bags. I have reverted back to using Neutrogen and Clean & Clear products only in the areas I do not use BP. This is a bit annoying since I'm using 2 different facewashes (Acne.org for forehead and Neutrogena for face) however this works for me and I'll suck it up. I also use two different lotions as well since my forehead seems to have a mind of its own.
Hope to be completely clear and no more breakouts soon! I read up from other entries that ppl experienced breakouts up to 3x during their 3 month period so I hope and pray that doesn't happen to me. Best of luck to everyone.
I've been suffering from mild to severe acne from the ages of 25-30 (current). It's really only limited to my forehead area which has caused me tons of anguish, depression and even obsession. I've always had clear skin, even throughout my adolescent years so it's tough for me to face the fact that I now have acne. I've tried everything from going on birth control (Yaz, Tricylcen-Lo, and currently on generic version of Mononessa), getting fancy spa facials totalling up to around $500 +, using different products like Neutrogena, Clean & Clear, Murad etc. I wash, moisturize and wear minimal make up but pimples always pop up- even the super red cystic looking ones that make my forehead look disfigured. I came across Acne.Org about 4 years ago, prior to when Dan created his own products. I started following his regimen using Neutrogena's On-The-Spot Treatment twice a day, following the exact format with an oil-free moisturizer and Neutrogen'a s Oil-Free Acne Wash Cream Cleanser. I started noticing improvement after 3 days and continued on for maybe only a few months until I was completely clear. I even emailed Dan to thank him for everything he's taught me. I contiued to have minimal break-outs here and there over the past 3 years and would put Neutrogena's On the Spot BP cream on but never fully followed the Regimen in full force.
Now it's four years later and I'm back to where I started when this whole time I thought I had fought my acne battle and won. I feel it's time to be serious and to really see the Regimen through if I want to be Acne free. I understand my case isn't as bad as some others but Acne is Acne and I believe we all share similar feelings of insecurity and sadness no matter the severity of it.
Anyhow I've purchased Daniel Kern's Regimen package for $38.44 + tax. I'm on day 2 of officially using his products however I'm approaching about 1 and 1/2 weeks on the Regimen having used Neutrogena's On-The-Spot with 2.5% BP along with Clean & Clears Deep Action Cream Cleanser (Oil Free) and Murads Skin Perfecting Lotion. I started taking photos of my progress for the past 5 days and noticed I'm breaking out a bit more as each day goes on My old scars are resurfacing and reddening again, as predicted by Dan's "what to expect" chart, and a new breakout has formed. Some pimples are healing fast than usual, matter of 2-3 days, while others are staying red and becoming more apparent. I'm trying to look at this treatment as a "wake up call" for my face which is bringing out all the gunk that's stuck in there. Hopefully after this breakout, it'll be well on it's way to healing. I admit that I've picked at my pimples a few times, which I'll try not to do again.
I've posted pictures I took on 3/19 and then on 3/23. You'll notice it's not looking as pretty as it was a few days ago but I'll check back early next week with hopefully positive progress.
