My progress with salicylic acid peels

Week 1 Update

The shitstorm that plagued my face after RE-starting antibiotics and my first salicylic acid peel is finally dying down. I have only about three "live" pimples on my face. My face is definitely improving. The picture is in better lighting in the updated photo, so it may look like my face got worse, but in reality...it has gotten tons better PHOTO UPDATE WEEK 1 http://i1100.photobucket.com/albums/g410/jehan4141/asdf.png BEFORE PHOTO http://s1100.photobucket.com/albums/g410/jehan4141/?action=view&current=Snapshotofme11.png The previous pictures I have been posting are always of the left half of my face. I chose the left side for two reasons: 1) For consistency 2) Because it was the worst side in terms of acne. There are absolutely zero live pimples there in the picture provided today. All that are left are red marks or hyperpigmentation. I plan on doing my 2nd peel in one week. However, instead of a salicylic acid peel, I think I will do a 40% glycolic acid peel to reduce my hyperpigmentation. I figured I should move on from salicylic acid because I no longer have raging acne. It has pretty much cleared up 90% due to antibiotics and the salicylic acid peel. I have also been applying a 50/50 apple cider vinegar/water toner at night. Besides helping to lessen the milia on my forehead, I can't tell if it's helping at all with my acne. It's really hard to pinpoint what is working when you are using multiple forms of attack on those red spots!!! If somebody could give me instructions on how to post the photo directly onto the blog, that would be much appreciated!

Day 5 Post Salicylic Acid Peel 20%

GRRR. I know that patience is key, but my face looks like a pepperoni pizza. Re-starting my antibiotics from scratch, plus the salicylic acid peel 20% is purging EVERYTHING all at one go. I have red marks everywhere. My face has never looked so blotchy....I just hope that the "live" acne dies down and heals so I can start covering up the blotchiness with makeup! I do not mind makeup when my skin is smooth, but applying it when your skin has bumps just looks so gross in my opinion...even worse than just leaving it uncovered... The days following the SA peel, I had a few (3-4) pimples surface. Salicylic acid is an exfoliant so this is expected. I even got a honkin biggun on my forehead and I NEVER get them on my forehead. When I applied the SA acid to my white heads, it dried it up and took the itchiness that is all too characteristic of those white buggers....It dried up and eventually fell off on its own accord the next day...leaving a slightly smooth and rosy pink spot. I thought that was pretty neat... Somebody wanted to know if salicylic acid peels helped with milia (the skin coloured bumps) on my forehead --unfortunately, it did not...I still have them. But those baby bumps are the least of my worries!!!! No picture will be posted because my face is just that bad right now....It was worse than the previous pictures I posted on Day 1...HOWEVER I have no "live" pimples right now...They are all in the stage of dying down THANK GOD!! I guess I am going to need to stock up on some make-up before heading back to university. Which sucks, because I am no pro at applying makeup.

Day 1: salicylic acid gel peel 20

Day 1 of using Skin Laboratories Salicylic/20 Gel Peel, bought from Amazon. Cleaned my face with cetaphil soap. Dried my face. Wiped my face with alcohol wipes, to "de-fat". Took a gauze pad and poured some SA gel all over my face. Left it on for 5 minutes (maximum recommended time is 8 minutes). Washed it off with copious amounts of water. There definitely was an uncomfortable stinging/burning sensation, but it was absolutely bearable. Now...we wait! Sorry the quality is so bad on these pictures; my computer is ancient... I can't figure out how to post the damn pics on here... Here's the link http://s1100.photobucket.com/albums/g410/jehan4141/?action=view&current=Snapshotofme10.png&evt=user_media_share there are 2 photos for today there

IT ARRIVES...TOMORROW...DUN DUN DUN

warning: this blog is gonna be me pretty much rambling. it gets confusing, but stick with me, people!!! ADD is a hell of a disorder I'm in a mad rush to get my face cleared up before school starts in September. I went out of the country for three months to volunteer in a third world country. I was so busy with my work there that I totally neglected my face, and overall physical appearance lol. It's easy to ignore physical hygiene when shower and even drinking water is rationed. I also stopped taking my antibiotics big uh oh. I restarted my antibiotics like a week ago, and my face looks like hell since it is purging all of the shit it accumulated during my months abroad. The purging should clear up soon with my antibiotics, but all of these breakouts are leaving my face with tons of red marks. I am starting salicylic acid 20% gel peel from amazon ($24 with shipping) to hopefully clear up the hyperpigmentation. If this doesn't work, I'm gonna wait until my acne clears up, and try out the stronger glycolic acid peels!!! I'm only really doing this blog business because I have been searching the internet for anything about a salicylic acid peel blog and there are like ZERO good ones *no offense if you have one* But I mean, like...with regular pic updates. i'm here to remedy that lol so others who are interested in SA peels can read up on it...hopefully it'll be useful for others who want to try it out. I will post up pics as often as I can with progress from my peel, starting manana. ALSO: those who say bad diet is why you have acne are WRONG. I'm a vegetarian, don't put sugar in anything I eat, limit my sodium to a bare minimum, no dairy by choice, don't like chocolate, no cokes yada yada....basically, I'm a super-health nut and I have acne. sooooooo...ssshuushh.
