Woow, it's been a long time since I last wrote an entry here!
Anyhows, good news - my face has been clearing up lately!
Yes, as amazing as it sounds, I no longer have the annoying chin acne I was complaining about earlier. I discovered that the chin acne was due to antibiotics I had been taking - I have been consuming antibiotics for toooooo long I suppose - but after I decided to completely stop taking them, the chin acne went away in a matter of days. I'm left with red marks that seem to fade away quite well, though.
Speaking of pimples, I no longer get so many of them. Atm I have about 5 pimples on my face - and that's not many, considering that earlier this year I would get 1 pimple / day. Usually I get around 1~2 pimples / week, so even though I am not completely clear, I am happy with the current results.
And I really have to emphasize that AHA+ along with CP Serum (which I started using about 2 months ago) have improved my skin texture big time. I guess after having used BP cream for so many years, I never really realized that my skin texture was actually quite bad - not only was it completely red and irritated but it was also rough and sort of.. "old" looking. Nowadays my facial skin is really soft and smooth, just like skin on other parts of my body. The hyperpigmentation is still there but I'm seeing improvement there as well.
CP Serum has also been great for combatting the oiliness of my face - my face, even though it still gets a bit oily, hasn't been this oil-free for a few years. I can't believe how much good CP Serum with AHA+ has done to my skin so far, it's almost unbelievable. And I think that AHAs and BHAs should be used alongside CP Serum as CP Serum accelerates the healing of your skin. You peel off the dead & bad skin with AHA / BHA and then heal & bring out healthier skin cells with the help of CP Serum. For me, this has worked.
There are still a lot of things about my skin that bother me but I am quite optimistic these days - maybe someday I will have a good-looking skin. Atm, I have a better-than-before-looking skin, which is great. But obviously, not enough for me.
Also, I'd like to point out that, yes, I have used both Dan's AHA+ and CP Serum for good few months already - so these results are nothing like "I think there's some improvement" but rather like "I KNOW there is some improvement". Trust me, both products are worth trying, at least.
Anyway, I'll be updating again some time!
It seems like I'm on the verge of having used AHA+ for 2 months! Yay, for once I have been determined enough to actually use a product for more than 1 month, despite the ups and downs.
I think these two months have been worth it - I have made mistakes along the way but at the moment, my skin is quite ok to be honest. I still don't like my skin that much but at least it is better than it used to be.
Okay, so what I have noticed this week - my skin texture not only feels smoother but it looks smoother as well. I'm not kidding, only a few weeks ago it looked like my skin had sort of been "ripped" (I had some patches on my skin; it looked like some parts of my skin had been peeling way too harshly while the others hadn't) so I guess, when it comes to AHA+, little is DEFINITELY more.
The thing I'm worried about, though, is my chin. Now, I thought the fish oil pills were the reason causing the pimples in my chin area but it seems like that wasn't the case. I think that skipping the fish oil pills has, nevertheless, helped, because the pimples appear slightly smaller. But the question is -- what is really causing these pimples? They only seem to be appearing on my chin area, otherwise my face is rather clear!
I went on to try and NOT use AHA+ on my chin area. The improvement has, yet again, been very subtle. I'm assuming that these pimples might not be caused by Dan's AHA+, though, because I had them already before starting to use it. It just feels like whenever a pimple goes away, another one pops out. And that happens only in the chin area, making my chin look really nasty. I came to think that maybe this chin acne is caused by bacteria or a fungus but I guess I will wait a few more days to see if some products aggravate my skin or if it actually is something worse than that.
I'll probably contact a doctor next week if this keeps going on - the chin acne has been bothering me ever since.. May? I cannot remember anymore. It's just sad that my face appears a lot worse than it actually is just because of the red marks & active zits in the chin area. Like I said, otherwise my face is looking and feeling quite clear (well, my T-zone is still oily but that's just something I'll have to deal with. My main goal is to get rid of pimples and red marks, after that I will focus on the oiliness.)
Btw, I have been admitted to university! I'm really looking forward to this experience but at the same time I'm quite worried because of the fact that my skin looks bad. I want to feel confident in this new school and with the new people I'm going to meet, I just wish my face would get at least a little better before uni starts... :/
Anyway, I guess I'll be blogging again next Sunday! See you!
My skin has been relatively good this week. Not so oily and the pimples have seemed to heal faster as well. I actually decided to reduce the amount of AHA+ I use per day and the improvement has been great! I guess the recommended full finger dosage was way too much for my skin - I am not using BP on my whole face after all so I don't need that much peeling. The amount of AHA+ I currently use per day is approximately the size of my finger tip - it's enough to lightly cover my whole face. I'll see if that is enough or if I'll have to increase the dosage a bit.
Anyway, all in all, this week's been good. I have also found a foundation (or well, a BB cream) that has great oil-control as well as covers my red marks quite well! It makes me feel at least a bit prettier when going out.
I'm now hopeful when it comes to my skin. But I'm trying to keep my head cool and see where AHA+ is heading my skin at.
Until next week!
So I have my terrible ups and downs when it comes to my skin - some days are just great, some days are like I had just fallen off from a cliff and waiting for the hit on the ground. This week has been so much so, full of ups and downs.
Now, I have to say that despite all the emotional ups and downs, my skin keeps constantly improving, which is great. But the improvement is so slow and nothing major, which obviously makes me upset.
I'm already on my day 46 with Dan's AHA+ - and after I stopped taking the fish oil supplements a week or so ago, my cyst-like pimples around my mouth area have slowly started to go away. But I have to emphasize the word slowly because yeah, these pimples seem to take a whiiiiiile to go away! Plus the fact that these pimples will leave some nasty red marks is not a thing that makes me happy. But I guess they'll fade in time.
I've come to realize lately that blackheads are my main issue; after I get done with these pimples on my chin area, I'm left with the battle against my blackheads (I have them all around my T-zone as well as cheeks and chin). The AHA+ doesn't seem to really improve blackheads that much - it does keep them somewhat cleaner, but not that much oil free. Even though my face isn't as oily as it was, I still regard my face to be super oily. The combination of make-up (which I use daily because I go to work and am ashamed to show my bare skin) & oily skin seems to be giving me these tiny pimples wherever blackheads occur. Luckily, like I said, the pimples are small and there's only a few of them.
I recently started making some facial sea salt masks as well, just to see if I can combat the oily skin that way. If not, I think I could try some products from Paula's Choice. Really tempted by them.
One thing I have to say, though, is that my skin FEELS incredible. My skin hasn't had this soft and smooth feeling for years (BP left me with a very "aged" looking skin). Now I just need to get the looks department in shape as well. Wish me luck!
I'm starting a blog in order to keep track of my acne; I hope this will be interesting for others to take a look at as well.
How it all began for me....
My name's Henna - I'll be 20 years old later this year and I've been suffering from acne & bacne for almost 5 years now. My skin has gradually become worse, although I've had times when my facial acne has reduced to almost zero. I've been through many different regimens: antibiotics, BP cream, water only regimen, salisylic acid peel done by a doctor, etc.... The only thing that has helped me somewhat is BP cream but because it gives my skin an incredibly red skintone as well as dries it so badly these days I only use it as a spot treatment.
Because I've been suffering from acne for so many years I've been left with huge pores, blackheads and bad PIH. I occasionally get pimples these days, too, but luckily not so much anymore.
What's my current regimen?
Currently I'm using Dan's AHA+ on a daily basis: I use a fair amount of it on my face & shoulders every night. So far (after a month's usage) the results have been quite good: my skin is smoother, softer, less oily and some of the fine lines that BP created are now gone. The only problem area right now is my mouth area, which is covered with pimples as well as red marks from already vanished pimples.
I also use another AHA product - it's a face wash product called Yogurt Peel Cleansing Foam and it's by a South Korean beauty company called Etude House. I've been using this product for more than 3 months now. The results with this AHA face wash have been nothing miraculous but it has definitely helped me get rid of my pimples faster. I'm using it on a daily basis, usually in the mornings.
BP cream is, like I mentioned, my current spot treatment: it helps to heal the new pimples a bit more efficiently.
Also, I take zinc suppliments as well as one antiobiotic (yes, I still consume antibiotics - I will stop using them though once this prescription gets old) per day. Plus I drink a glass of water with a tea spoon of turmeric in it - I'm doing that because I like the taste (haha) and I also want to see if turmeric helps me with my acne / health in general.
I have tried to keep track of this whole AHA+ process a bit, been writing something about my skin from time to time. I will use this blog to update myself as well as others on how I am doing with my skin. This is the progress with AHA+ so far...
Experimenting with AHA+ - The Progress so far:
27th May, 2011 - DAN'S AHA+ START - my skin was relatively OK at that period; I had been using an AHA face wash for two months, it had improved my skin already a bit, removing most of my pimples for example; I was left with a dozen or so whiteheads around my mouth area, though. I still continue using this face wash, but only in the mornings.
2nd June, 2011 - Dan's AHA+ DAY 7 - Softer skin, going through possible purging period (some new pimples, whiteheads in the chin area have faded little)
6th June, 2011 - Dan's AHA+ DAY 11 - New white heads & a few cysts around my mouth area, sucks. The oiliness of my face isn't that bad, though.
12th June, 2011 - Dan's AHA+ DAY 17 - The pimples that arose a week or so ago have started to subside. Only two new ones. Skin tone still red.
20th June, 2011 - Dan's AHA+ DAY 25 - Small red pimples still emerge almost daily; sometimes they are painful. Less whiteheads, though. Plus my skin is really smooth and less oily.
2nd July, 2011 (today) - Dan's AHA+ DAY 38 - The red pimples around my mouth area have started to go away. I no longer consume fish oil suppliments (I think fish oil was causing me this jawline/mouth area acne!), which seems to have helped (only one pimple has appeared since I stopped eating fish oil pills, which was a few days ago already; usually I got at least one or two pimples / day!). A few of my blackheads have turned into very tiny pimples but otherwise I feel like my skin is taking a direction for the better. We'll see.
Anyhow, this is how my AHA+ experience has been so far. I'll try to update my blog every now and then and see if there's any development! I'll make sure to post pictures of myself as well some day (:
