Changes to my regimen

Without the tazorac, I started breaking out! Made some (pretty dramatic, given that I've always used the same moisturizer and have now changed...) changes to my regimen. New regimen:  AM CeraVe Hydrating Bar Aveeno Daily moisturizing lotion Vaseline on cheeks (can't emphasize enough) thin thin thin layer of BP all over face (pea size) - do NOT USE EXTRA BP ON PIMPLES.  Gold Bond eczema on any eczema spots  (cuz BP gives me eczema flares) MAC Studio Sculpt in NC42

Hair loss

I started losing hair like 3 years ago. (whoa) The thing is-- I'm only 23. It wasn't any sort of pattered loss. My part wasn't getting wider. It was diffuse loss. I noticed it a year after starting tazorac so it's entirely possible that it's not related. Something tells me that it might be though. So, I'm trying to see what happens. I actually have no clue how long I should try this before giving up and going back to taz. Taz really does make my skin look better and it's a lot easier to keep cle

Cold compresses

So,  I've started using this technique that doctors use for facial eczema in kids called a cold compress to fight the extremely dry skin that's been plaguing me for the past few weeks despite a two tank heater.  It's magic I swear. You're supposed to use a mix of baby oil and water and dip a towel into that but I've been using just water. I hold the wet towel on my skin for about ten minutes then wash my face and moisturize with CeraVe cream immediately after. It's worked like nothing else. Two

First snow

So, it snowed for the first time this past weekend. My apartment is crazy hot because I have no idea how to control the heaters. I also wake up feeling really thirsty and like my skin is hella dry.  I really wish I could control these heaters but they're automatic. -___- I just have my windows open all the time now. I can feel the moisture from outside. I know not even CeraVe will combat these damn heaters, and my humidifier is too small to take on such moisture sapping heaters. We'll see what t

Where I am with my skin

Last winter was tough. I made a huge move to a really cold place last year (compared to the sunny, humid South). My skin was not putting up with it. Flakes for days. My skin broke out constantly. They were huge and ugly too. And my skin looked like shit. I was popping every pimple with a needle. Destroying my skin. That's when I decided that enough was enough. My skin could have pimples but it needed to feel healthy and not broken the way dry skin does. I don't remember the changes I made at the

Fine Tuning Regimen

So, I recently started using the Clarisonic Mia with the acne brush head. It's been extremely helpful; I feel like it's the only reason I can wear foundation on a daily basis now. I use just a little to reduce the appearance of the scars on my cheeks. I feel like I'm really fine-tuning my regimen now. Using Eucerin skin calming daily moisturizing cream before the bp/make-up has also been helping to prevent makeup-related breakouts. I think the mineral oil acts as a barrier for the pigments and s

Roiling Emotions...

Today, I woke up with a cheek pimple. Cheek pimples are not the same as forehead or chin pimples. For me, having a cheek pimple is an emotionally tolling experience; on my skin, they are more likely to leave scars, more resistant to treatment, and take longer to go away. So, today I was a bit of a beyotch. I acted like I was PMS-ing. It always results in my spending a few hours surfing the internet looking for something that will shed new light on how I can treat my acne. I decided that it was t

Update

So for the past two days my regimen has been: Morning: 1. ceraVe cleanser 2. Moisturizer Afternoon: 1. cerave cleanser 2. AHA from DermE Evening: 1. cerave cleanser 2. moisturizer Night: 1. Cerave cleanser 2. Dan's BP 2.5% 3. Moisturizer. So far so good! My mild resurgence is starting to clear up and my scars are starting to lighten. That said, I've been procrastinating soooo much. I need to study Biology and do a bunch of other things...

Cosmetic Breakout

So, I started this blog on a whim, really. I feel like it might help my skin and others if I keep a constant log. A little history: I had horrible acne, very inflamed and irritated for about 2 years. The regimen cleared me, but I've been looking for something to rid myself of scars. So I, stupidly, used DHC's Salicylic Acid Toner which has NaOH in it and made me breakout in cosmetic acne. I'm a stickler about not irritating my skin, because that's what got me into this whole serious acn
