Well, I just took my second pill. There hasn't been any change in my acne, which I wasn't expecting this early on in the treatment. I felt like my lips were dry during the afternoon, but I think it may have just been in my head. Aquaphor helped that right away. So excited to get results
I'm sure you've heard of the notorious Accutane: the miracle/nightmare of all acne medications. Most people who are prescribed with this have very severe acne which has not responded to any other treatment attempts. I have deep plug acne on my face and back, and though it is not severe, it is very noticeable and hasn't responded to any other acne medicine. I've tried BP, salicylic acid, all of the acne face washes at the drug store, doxycycline pills, epiduo gel, you name it. After I talked to my dermatologist about it, she told me that I had nothing to lose and should try out this drug. Being a woman, I had to commit to pregnancy prevention because Accutane causes severe birth defects, along with a whole bunch of lovely side effects including depression, dry skin, dry eyes, joint pain, hair loss, IBS, and so much more.
Today I FINALLY got it after waiting a month to take two negative pregnancy tests, answer questions online, then pick up the prescription. I wanted to do a blog on my progress and share my experience with everyone considering taking Accutane. Yes, I'm terrified, but I'm also SO EXCITED to finally have a clear, healthy complexion. I bought some CeraVe, Aquaphor, and body lotion to help out with the dryness. Wish me luck!
