Buuuut this one spot is sooosoooosooooo noticeable ! it is in the worst spot ever. :'( not to mention im going out tomorrow with a lot of people and dont want them to see my bad skin. *siiiiggggggh* mythai05

Accutane month 6

feeling soo depressed because i touched my skin. it was doing completely fine and actually looking better than usual but for some dumb reason i decided to pick at it. Ugh i am so saddddddddddd. so it is month 6 now and im on 70 mg a day until i finish my pack of 10 mg. and then my doctor said to start taking 80mg. i went for my blood test the other day and i got a huge bruise on the spot that she took my blood and it stayed there for about a week and a 1/2. but i guess that probably happens a lot. Anyways i talked to my doctor and he said that i can be on accutane for as long as i want as long as i keep going for my blood tests every month. so that is the only good thing. :'( ugh please dont pick ppl it makes you feel horrible afterwards.

end of month 5

hey everyone it has been soooooo long since i last posted at least a couple of weeks. and that is because i was away and didnt have any internet. also i didnt have much to post about cause AGAIN THERE IS STILL HARDLY ANY CHANGES. ugh so the first week that i was away my face was totally fine and not bothering me at all. week two i get a spot above my lip (so annoying) and one on my forehead. and both of them hurt! and are red. :'( they are going away now, but i see im getting another spot under my mouth. i think it is because of this huge heatwave right now it is soo humid all the time. Also i got a couple of nosebleeds which is common. i got a couple at the beginning of my treatment too i think i may have forgotten to mention them before. :/ so anyhow my appointment with my doc is in 1 week! i cant wait to speak to him and ask him WHY oh why i am STILL breaking out. i stopped my depression meds so long ago and still havent told my doctor about it. :S :S anywayssss.... i only have one more week left of month five !! is it true that you can only be on accutane for 6 months???? please answer.. i only have one more refill.. so i suppose after 1 month i wont be able to take accutane anymore.? signing out, mythai05

Hey guys, im on accutane month FIVE now. and my skin is not clear it actually looks the same as month 4 except my forehead broke out again. I am so depressed i can't even begin to tell you. at this point i don't see how accutane can help me, im so sad because i thought accutane would be the end of my acne. Im going to stick to it for another 2 months and pray that it starts to help. my doc went on holiday so my appointment is delayed:( question!? Has anyone been on accutane and their skin didnt start clearing til month 5 or 6? atm i am on month 5 and day 6. :'( mythai05

accutane! Month 4: check.

Okay so i just finished month four! but my skin is still broken out on my forehead/ cheeks a little bit. i have a doctors appointment coming up in a little bit so im excited to see what he has to say. honestly my skin doesnt even look different at all since the last time i saw him. its still in almost the same state. anyhow hopefully he has some helpful advice. or maybe he will even further up my dosage since there really has been no changes!!!! other than the odd break out. However, im trying to focus on other things and less on my skin. i have stopped taking my antidepressants cause i hate being on a lot of meds. and face it i dont think they were rele making me feel all that great. however, on the up side im going to start working out more and putting all of my energies towards being positive rather then dwelling on the fact that my skin still sucks. LOL. anyhow.... i hope everyone else is doing good. side note; no new side effects. peace4now...

Accutane/rash/sunburn!

HALLELUJAH!!!!! My sunburn & rash are GONE!! yaaaayyy so anyhow my rash has gone away on its own; its taken about a week. and my sunburn originally went away and then i went out in the sun again for about 20 mins one day and it came back... with a vengeance... and i was basically super tomato red ALLLL over again. thankfully i look normal again and just have a few spots to worry about. Also i have to get a new sunscreen cause the one i have is no good. so i will update you about the kind i get! im gonna be looking for one with no PABA and nothing bad in it that will irritate my skin, make me break out, or get a rash from; considering i have super sensitive skin. My forehead is looking a lot better there is much less spots now. I am three months and 1/2 in to my accutane treatment as of today ! WAHOO. honestly, my experience so far really hasn't been that negative.(other than the catastrophe of having a rash and a sunburn at the same time.. that sucked) despite that; my experience sooo far has been pretty positive because i haven't had to deal with a lot of the bad side effects. And the side effects i did get were pretty easy to handle. I'm hoping (crossing my fingers) from this time on my skin will only clear up & i won't get any more breakouts!! because my doc told me that after 2 months my skin would defs begin to clear up... but i feel it has taken my skin waaaaay longer to get used to the medicine. any ways.... good luck to everyone, hope your skin is looking gorgeous. ciaaaaaaaaaao mythai05

ACCUTANE. cont'd

Hey yaaaaaaall, so im still in my first week of month four and currently on 60 mg pills. My sunburn is gone there is just a tiny bit of redness at my hairline but its not really bothering me cause its not too noticeable. anyways the spots on my forehead are getting a lot smaller (yes!) and ive got some spots around my mouth but they are teeny tiny. ive still got pimples under the skin on my forehead in random spots but they are skin colour and not raised at all. still crossing my fingers/ things are definitely looking better so im feeling a lot happier atm. also went into the drug store looking for some good sunscreen. i found one i forget the brand name (?) anyways its a spray kind and it is SPF 45. you can use it all over your body as well as on your face. so im going to pick it up this week and start using it ASAP. to avoid another baaaaaaad sunburn. yiiiiikes. honestly nothing much is new, the face is pretty much looking the same, except there is some improvements. atm i have zero rashes, which is awesome! no dry skin, no dry lips (yes to lip chap and lots of vaseline!) one thing i forgot to mention a long time ago, was in my first month of accutane i got about three nose bleeds. my doctor never mentioned this would happen but i googled it and apparently accutane does cause nose bleeds. also, i mentioned last time that i was going to get my blood test! (I DIDNT) i just got way too busy and had to work that day so i didnt get a chance to go. BUT definitely this week!!! for sure. alright, any questions/ comments:) are welcome mythai05 peace out, ttys

accutane! month 4 day 4 ;)

Okay so im continuing to take my 60 mg of accutane every morning with my breakfast and things are looking up atm. My skin has almost fully recovered from my sunburn! (yay) and quicker than i thought! its still a bit red but the soreness is gone. and my arms are still a bit red. but on the brightside my face is looking better when i first got my sunburn the other day i got big red blotches on my hands because i have a rash that keeps coming back and is caused by accutane. i just put on lots of aloe and its basically better. i still have two blemishes/bumps on my forehead that hurt a bit and are a little red. i think one may be going away though. (crossing my fingers like no tomorrow hahah) i know this sounds weird but i think that my sun burn actually dried up some of my blemishes because my forehead is looking better, even though it still has some blemishes. i haven't noticed any new spots since starting 60 mg.. i read on another blog that basically the higher the dosage the worse the side effects are. luckily i have yet to experience any new side effects. atm i am experiencing my sunburn of course loll, dryness on my arms, a little bit of rash still on hands (very minimal now), some sore joints. Im happily surprised that i havent been experiencing any really bad side effects! so im feeling pretty positive;) Tomorrow i am going to go for my blood test! im not a fan of needles so not really looking forward to this, also i dont think i can eat for 12-14 hours something that will be tough. But its part of taking accutane so im totally up for it. ive only gone once before. because i went during the middle of my second month so my doctor said to wait. and my first results turned out great he said. i think thats it for now mythaaaaaai0555555

sunburn on accutane..

so today i got a sunburn while on accutane and im really worried about how this will affect my course. i read somewhere that you could get blistering and scars from getting a sunburn while on accutane so i am praying this does not happen!!! lol any advice please, or has this happened to anyone!? also ive been putting a cold compress on my face as well as some aloe vera gel to calm down the redness, but my cheeks/forehead/nose are all still very rosie and embarrassing. ps. i was not trying to tan, just ended up staying outside too long.

More Accutane Tips

Hello, Just thought of a couple quick tips to add to the list! 1. Use SPF (a really good one) if going out in the sun for an extended period of time. I was out in the sun earlier like i had mentioned and i should have had on some sunscreen I would recommend SPF 45 because it works for a long amount of time and you won't have to reapply as much. And its pretty easy to forget! 2. I mentioned before that i get pretty flushed when im hot as a result of the medication im on. In times like these i spritz on some 'Eau Thermale Avene/ Thermal Spring Water' onto my face and it really cools me down & makes my face look a little less rosie. 3. Lip chap with SPF! it's awesome... 4. I got a rash on my hands and my doctor told me that this is actually common! because i was pretty freaked out when i woke up with it one morning. He prescribed me with Elocom cream it is over the counter and it works really well. (when i don't forget to use it, haha) 5. Another accutane warning is you might get some stiff joints and muscle pain! i'm not too sure if i have this only because i work out a lot and do lots of cardio (well, 4x a week) and some weights. But my soreness could just be from working out, but i have been sore for longer periods of time i have noticed. In addition, i was really scared about working out while on accutane because i didnt want to sweat/ or work against the medication. But so far exercising has not affected my treatment at all so DO NOT be afraid! LOL 6. stay as positive as you can sincerely, Mythai05

Month 4 Accutane!

Today i started my month four of accutane plus i had my first dose of 60 mg today! So far I haven't noticed any changes in my skin for the worse (thankfully) but i will keep you updated considering it is only day one of my higher dosage. Hopefully in a week i will see some changes! (for the better haha) You're not supposed to go in the sun when you are on accutane, however today i was unintentionally stuck in the sun for about two hours. (i was sitting on the sunny side of the car and it was very humid i might add) So anyways i tried to block my face as much as possible but nothing bad has happened yet. And im not going to go in the sun again for that long just in case. If i do go in the sun i will use neutrogena sunscreen! with a high SPF just in case! That's all for now! Mythai05

Accutane Tips :)

Hey everyone, Ive been on accutane for a while now so i thought id give the new users some tips about how to cope with the side effects!! Tip number one is to use LOTS and LOTS of vaseline on your lips. Dry lips is the most common side effect of accutane and it can be very very irritating and uncomfortable to be walking around with red lips all day. My secret weapon is a small tube of vaseline (pocket size) that i picked up from shoppers drug mart. Another thing you can use (not as good) is burts bees lip balm but it is not as strong as vaseline and vaseline stays on way longer. Im half way through my treatment and not once did my lips crack or get dry! My second tip is use MOISTURIZER and lots of it. Basically i wash my face twice a day (once in the morning and once in the evening) plus i shower after work. Therefore i apply my face lotion after i get out of the shower and wash my face. (i.e. 3 x a day) The moisturizer i use is very common it is called cetaphil. Before putting cetaphil on my face i use aloe and just lightly put a pea size amount all over my face. I havent had any flakiness since i started doing this! i will add some more tips later on mythai05

Accutane...

I'm still trying to get a hang of using this website lol so hopefully i am posting this in the right spot. (it's a continuation of my accutane dairy) /feel free to comment if im adding entries wrong haha. So basically when i first started accutane the first week i actually saw improvement right away. Most of my forehead completely cleared up and a couple spots on my cheeks did too. i was super excited and right away i was glad i had listened to my doctor! Because i kept hearing scary stories about accutane being dangerous (and thankfully i ignored them because i keep going for my blood tests and im still healthy!) So week one my skin got better, and week two i dont recall seeing much changes. However week three was when i got hit with my 'initial breakout' and my forehead acne came back again/ slightly worse which my doctor told me was normal! He also told me that after month two was when i would start to see significant changes in my skin for the better. However im just starting month four (tomorrow. yay!) but i still have some acne around my chin and forehead which is why i got my dosage increased. Also, my breakouts really havent stopped yet. I havent seen any new blemishes, just ones that keep reoccuring and will not go away permanently. But im keeping positive! Tomorrow i start taking 60 mg of accutane a day. I am a little nervous because i read somewhere online that the side effects get worse the higher the dosoage. so my fingers are crossed!!! and i will let you know if any of my side effects get worse or if i acquire any new ones. Another thing that i mentioned before... i do have depression and im not sure if it worsened because of accutane. it is hard to tell because i had it before i even started my treatment. Just to let you know depression is one of the side effects of the pill. on the other hand, if your skin is looking great i think accutane may cure your depression if it all started with acne/blemishes! So dont let it scare you and try to have an open mind if you are just starting accutane. Sincerely, Mythai05

My accutane diary !

Hey everyone, i dont know if anybody will even read this/ i also just joined acne.org about 5 minutes ago with the intention of writing a blog so hopefully i am doing it right lol! Basically ive been reading stories online about people with acne and how they are treating it and one method which is what i am currently using is accutane. So i just thought that i would share some interesting things that have happened to me so far (3months in to using accutane drug.) To start off i will let you know i am eighteen years of age and female! I started accutane 3 months ago i currently only have two pills left in my packet and am going to pick up my month four refill tomorrow. My doctor started me on 40 mg which is the lowest dosage possible, and today when i went to the doctors he increased my dose to 60 mg. (40 + two 10mg pills a day= 60mg) i am excited because i really want my acne gone!! so far i am half way through my treatment and although my skin has improved i am surprised that my forehead and chin have not cleared up as much as i had hoped. they are my two worse spots. These are some of the side effects i have been experiencing.../some tips... 1. My lips have not actually been dry at all (i keep vaseline on me at all times and reapply literally 20 times a day !) haha 2. My hands are very dry and formed a rash but my doc gave me cream for it, so its not too bad 3. My skin on my face isnt dry because ive been using aloe and lotion on it (my secret weapons) 4. My skin does get flushed but it could be because of my other medications. 5. i dont care too much about side effects im just excited for the outcome after i finish my course!!!! i should let you know i am also on antidepressants because i have very mild ocd and also depression and am currently being treated for them.. i feel like once my skin is better i will also be happier. my skin is what caused my depression in the first place... MY survival guide to Accutane A. Always moisturize! B. vaselinevaselinevaseline C. Go to the doctors often/ check if you need to increase dosage D. Get regular blood tests My acne is moderate to severe and it really gets me down which is why my doctor prescribed it as a last resort. Before i was given accutane i had to try retin-a, tonnes of different topicals, birth controls, other brands of birth controls but nothing worked! So far my acne is better but i still have a long way to go and ill keep you updated. (that is if anyone is reading LOL) sincerely, Mythai05
