Skin is still looking good. Just have blackheads and other small stuff coming to the surface but no major pimples or cysts. In fact I am pretty pleased with the way my skin is looking. Its nice to go out and not have to put a ton of cover up and foundation on.
I am also feeling way better physically. I may have jumped to conclusions (which my husband says I always do) about accutane wearing down my body. The past few days I have had a ton of energy and I haven't had that many aches or pains.
I went for my bloodwork again today and go back to the Dr. on friday for another check up. I hope everything is normal and I can continue on my course of treatment. I will be sure to update the blog then
Well my skin is looking good, the blackheads on my nose are still clearing out. I still have a ton of tiny little pimples under my skin on my chin and jawline. They are slowing coming to the surface.
My body however is not as good, I am extremely tired all the time, I have absolutely no energy at all. I have now pulled something in my back for the 2nd time since starting accutane and I am extremely sore. I also think I may be getting sick again which would be the 2nd time since starting accutane as well. Plus I cant get rid of this cough that I have had since I was sick a month ago. Before I started accutane I should note that I am a very healthy person who does pilates and yoga and eats somewhat healthy and has a BMI of 21.
As much as I love how great my skin looks and want to see this through I dont know if I can continue to put my body through this. I have 2 young children to take care of that and I cant do it if I am constantly tired, aching and sick. I go to get my bloodwork done again next monday and see my Dr. again next friday. If I dont see any improvement in my overall body health, I may discontinue use of accutane. Its really ashame that the one thing that is clearing up my acne that I have had for years is hurting the rest of me. I guess you cant have your cake and eat it too
Its been a while since I have made an entry. 1 because I have been very busy and 2 there is really nothing to report. My skin has basically remained the same over the past 2 weeks. Some stuff comes out of some blackheads after I wash my face and wipe it with a towel. T here are still tons of little underground pimples but they are only noticable if you look real close. I havent been wearing foundation which is really nice especially since its been in the mid 80's here. I am hoping that my doctor will up my dosage from 20mg 2x a day. I go back in 2 weeks.
My lips are still extremely dry but constantly putting blistex and carmex on every 10 to 15 minutes seems to help. Although some days an entire layer of skin comes off my lips. Also, I found a great aloe socks for my feet to wear to bed so the bottoms of my feet are not dry and cracking anymore. Overall I am doing well.
I walked out of my house without foundation on my face for the first time in years. It felt great, especially since its 85 degrees out. No new breakouts and everytime I wash my face more stuff comes out from all the blackheads on my nose. I still have lots of little under the surface pimples on my chin (which the dr told me will take the longest to clear) but you only notice them if you are real close. It also helps that I have a nice tan going on. Dont worry I put spf 30 on my face every day but I do live in South Florida and the sun is unavoidable especially like a beautiful day today.
I did however open a crack on my big toe while playing with my daughter. Now I wear flip flops year round so the bottom of my feet are dry to begin with. I lotion them every night before bed even before I started accutane. I have noticed however they are even more dry then usual and when the blood began pouring out I realized I need to step up my game. I am thinking of buying those lotion socks that are supposed to keep your feet hydrated while you sleep. Only problem is I hate wearing socks in bed. Oh well I guess I am just going to have to get used to it for a few months. It will be worth it in the long run.
1 month down and 5 to go! Woohoo!
I went to the Dr yesterday. My bloodwork came back great and he liked how my face is doing so I am continuing on 20mg 2x day. He said I should not expect any new breakouts, just blackheads and other clogged pores coming to the surface. He said this is the part that takes the longest. I have noticed in the past few days after I wash my face that alot of stuff coming out of the blackheads on my nose. (Sorry if this a little TMI)
As for the rest of me, I am doing good. Just really really bad chapped and peeling lips. I must have a dozen different lip things scattered around my house so no matter where I am I can apply more. Besides that I am really happy with my progress thus far
I went for my bloodwork this morning. I hope everything is ok, I wouldnt want to have to stop taking accutane. I guess every month I am going to have to go through a little bit of anxiety waiting to get the results. I go back to the Dr on monday.
As far as my face goes, my forehead cleared up. I still have the one cyst on my left jawline that hasnt really changes much since I started over 3 weeks ago. I have noticed in the past few days that all of the million little clogged pores (blackheads) on my nose are starting to come up. This is very exciting, as I think these pores have been clogged for over a decade. LOL. My chin however still has no improvement. There are still tons of these tiny pimples (looks like white heads) under the surface.
Well I have all these tiny pimples on my chin. The almost look like whiteheads but under the surface. I wish they would all come up already. I have 2 cysts on my forehead now as well. Besides my forehead and chin the rest of my face is ok. I am only on 40mg a day, I am hoping that the Dr. ups my dosage when I go back to see him in a week and a half.
I have no other side effects at this time except for dry/chapped lips and last night my skin was really itchy. Does anyone have any suggestions for good body lotion? I have been using one with cocoa butter but it doesnt seem to help with the itch.
Well I think the IB is upon me. All these small pimples are popping up all over my face. My chin looks like a road map! LOL. I think every pore that has ever been clogged on my chin is now coming to the surface. The problem I have is I am a picker, I know, I know...its really bad for you but I just cant help myself! I am trying to have some self control but I have yet to learn it in my 32 years of existance. I am just hoping that this doesnt take that long to clear up.
Besides that I am doing great. My lips are still extremely dry/cracked and I keep applying lip stuff like every 10 to 15 minutes. People must think I have some weird obsession with my lips Otherwise I am not having any other noticable side effects. I go for my bloodwork again a week from today. Hopefully my triglycerides are staying in check, I have been trying to keep the carbs to a minimum in an effort to help
I have dry, cracking, peeling lips. It is not a good look for me. LOL. I am applying aquafor and carmex nonstop but it just isnt helping. I also learned that I need to up the spf if I am going to be in direct sun (which living in south florida with a 3 year old is unavoidable). My nose is a little red from being in the sun on thursday.
As for my face... no new pimples have appeared, just the ones that have been there seem to be shrinking. In fact today I didnt even wear foundation. With the exception of the dry lips so far so good. I keep wondering if and when the IB is coming.
My lips are shriveling up. I keep applying carmex, aquafor and chapstick but they feel liked they are about to peel at any given moment. The rest of my face and body isnt that dry though. I keep applying lotion twice a day.
I noticed I am getting some small pimples on my chin. It seems like things are starting to surface but they are very small and seem to clear up pretty quickly. Also the blackheads/clogged pores on my nose are purging themselves which is fantastic being i think they have been clogged for a good part of a decade now. My overall complexion on my face is great though, no redness it just looks really healthy.
Well I am feeling much better now that I have been on antibotics for my upper respitory infection. As for the rest of me, my skin all over my body feels a little sore to the touch, almost like I have a slight sun burn even though I havent been in the sun. My face is looking good, the cysts on my chin are shrinking and drying up and the one on my jawline is a 1/4 the size it was a week ago. And the one on my left check is completely gone. I have some dryness on my nose but I am putting on lotion at least 2 times a day. Also, I am getting that waxy feeling on my lips but I keep applying carmax and aquafor.
Overall I am actually amazed at how great my face looks. My pores appear smaller to me. I am just hoping this isnt the calm before the storm in terms of an intial breakout. I have no other side effects to report So far week 1 was pretty good!
Well the good news is my sore throat was not accutane related. I woke up with a really bad cold this morning and to the dr and it seems I have an upper respitory infection. I am actually relieved it was not accutane related, otherwise I may have had to rethink this course of treatment.
As for my face, it appears that the cysts on my chin are going down in size and also coming to the surface. The one on my left jawline appears to also be shrinking in size as well. Overall my face looks pretty good so far. I am heading out of town tomorrow for the weekend so I will update my latest info when I am back home on monday!
So I woke up this morning with a sore throat. Having only taken 2 doses I am reluctant to say its from the accutane however I know it is a possible side effect. I must have drank at least 90 oz of water today and I am hoping that tomorrow my throat is not so sore. Luckily I have some great herbal throat coat tea that seems to be helping. I also have a killer headache but I get headaches all the time and today was just one of those days. LOL.
Besides that I am feeling fine. So far no changes in my skin to report.
Ok so I am taking 20mg twice a day of Claravis. To start I have 2 small cystic pimples on both my right and left sides of my chin. I also have 1 big cyst on my left jawline and a small one on my left cheek. I also have a bunch of small blackheads on my nose.
I have been drinking a ton of water which is probably going to keep waking me all night but I was told to drink as much as you can. I stocked up on sunblock, lip stuff and lotion so I can try to prevent as much dryness as possible. So far I dont notice any changes which is expected.
I really hope this is worth all the hoops I have to jump through to get this prescription. My doctor couldnt write the prescription until today due to the ipledge program rules. Anyway, I brought my script to the pharmacy and of course they didnt have it in stock. So I must wait 1 more day till I start. I was prescribed 20mg to start off and then my doctor will increase the dosage later on. Right now my face is actually not that bad since I have been on Bactrim for the past month. I am hoping that I dont get a severe intial outbreak but we will see. I am very anxious to start this whole process.
I am a 32 year old female who has been suffering from acne for years. I cant even begin to estimate how many thousands of dollars I have spent at dermatologists, prescription drugs, over the counter stuff and laser treatments to get rid of my acne. I have 2 kids and am not planning on any more so I finally decided its time to get rid of this annoying acne once and for all (hopefully) with accutane. I decided to keep a blog and track my progress so that maybe I can help someone else who is going through the same thing and to keep a record for myself.
I go to the dr today and as long as all my bloodwork is fine, I will get my prescription and start today. I am excited and nervous. My biggest fear right now is the inital breakout. I hear some people get it bad and others dont. Right now I currently have 3 cystic nodules on my face with blackheads in the T-zone.
Wish me luck! I will update after my dr. appt today
