I'll bet you thought I vanished from the Earth... nope, still here and doing well.
I feel so good after I started the 60mg (30 mg x2/day) I haven't had any headaches, no muscle aches, no joint aches, really no side effects at all.
My face is basically clear. It feels so smooth. The huge cyst (I think I spoke of in the last blog, however I can't be completely positive) has died.... in the worst fashon ever. I won't go into details, but it was pretty gross. Glad it's gone though. It used to be, cysts of that magnitude would last for at LEAST a month; it was gone in a week. Lovely!
I'm considering getting a clairsonic face scrubber brush thing... I ALWAYS wake up with dead skin. I basically exfoliate every morning.
I've noticed that the red pigmented scars have become more pronounced since the acne went away. It's actually really difficult to cover up too. I ordered my first EVER product from QVC last night to hopefully aide in the difficult task of covering those pesky buggers up. It was called It! concealer in medium, let me know if you've tried it. I was amazed at the coverage on the models they were using to showcase the product. I spend so much money at Sephora on makeup, I figured WTH.
Glad I was able to check in!
I am a HORRIBLE blogger. LOL
The last time I checked in was day 26, and since then I have had my second blood draw, seen the derm, AND picked up my second month prescription.
Second visit to the derm: It went really great. She said that my blood work looked okay. My cholesterol did go up 10 points, but that I was still in the healthy zone. She told me to start eating foods with a lot of fiber like cheerios and oatmeal and also to make sure that I am eating a lot of veggies. I was taking 40 mgs of Clarvis, and since I was doing well on that dose, she decided to bump me up to 60 mg. The only complaint that I had was the headaches that I get about once a week. They're pretty severe, not quite a migraine, but close. The derm told me that she didn't like headaches and if they get any worse (especially with 60mg) she's going to pull me from the medication or cut my dose dramatically Hopefully they don't get any worse.
My face: It's all going really well. I have one active pimple on my right cheek, and one HUGE cyst on my left cheek, but I'm pretty sure that both are on their way out or at least I hope so because I'm traveling this weekend and I really don't want a ginormous cyst on my face.
The rest of my body is doing great. I've been out in the sun a TON (wearing shorts and a tank). Before going out I'll spray a bunch of SPF 80 for kids on my skin and do an SPF 80 lotion on my face. I haven't been burned at all. Yay me. When I was a little girl, I'd get heat rashes on the inside of my elbows, but I hadn't had one in years, well, theyre back. The dr gave me a steriod (which was silly bc the active ingredient is hydracortizone .1% which I don't need a script for) and that seems to be working. Other than that, I have been lotioning up like crazy, taking showers after workouts and not taking them on my days off. I haven't been too dry so I guess I'm doing it right.
Haven't had a headache in 4 days, but I'll probably get one today just for saying that.
I'll try to check in again tomorrow, no promises though!
So I'm going in for my second blood draw tomorrow. Cannot wait to be done with my first month’s supply! It's so exciting!
I'll tell ya; at the beginning of this month I had I believe it was 21 zits, now I have 2! It's amazing. I feel so much better about myself. I have my confidence back, which is fantastic!
Now for my complaints, minor as they may be: I am dry. My face is ALWAYS dry and in need of lotion. My eye lids are dry. The inside of my elbows is forever itchy. My calves are itchy. BUT it's still better than acne
So I woke up this morning with dry flaky skin around my nostrils and an active zit on my right nostril. It's dead sexy.
Other than that, no new active pimples.
No headaches today, either. Yay!
So this marks 3 weeks of accutane. My skin looks a ton better than day 1.
I still feel really good. Headaches every so often, but that's pretty typical for me. I wish I could take tylenol, but whatever.
Today I feel a little down. Not depressed, just down. I stay at home, which is totally new to me. I have ALWAYS either had 2 jobs or been in school full time. My husband got a great job and we moved, so I'm staying home, attempting to make an easy transition for our son. That being said, I'm bored out of my mind!!! I was all excited to go have lunch with my husband but he called and said he had to attend a meeting at 130... But I was already dressed up and ready so now I'm looking fab, watching TLC on the couch. Ugh!
I'd exercise again, but I have a headache, or the beginning of a headache.
I hope everyones day is going better than mine.
Wow, I haven't been here in awhile.
So, my skin is looking better than it has in a long time. All the cysts are basically gone!
I have a few regular pimple. A lot of red spots, but hopefully those will go away too.
No side effects to speak of. I actually feel great.
I have been exercising a total of 2 hours a day. Usually 1.5 in the AM and .5 in the evening. After the morning workout I take a shower with soap and shampoo. After the PM w/o I take another shower but I just rinse off and use conditioner. After both I apply a ton of lotion. The eczema spots are looking better. hopefully I can make em disappear.
I have actually cut back my water consumtion, and I think that has helped with the headaches. I honestly believe I was drinking TOO much water.
I have my blood draw and second drs appt next week. Speaking of that, I was surprised at how much my co-pay was for the blood draw...and I have great insurance. It's crazy how much they expect people to pay for this treatment. I feel bad for people who are suffering with acne but this treatment is out of reach. It's definitely not fair.
Okay, that's all.
So today has been really good aside from only having slept 5 hours last night. Oh well.
I got up at 5:30. Thankfully the dry/sore throat is a thing of the past. The only thing that is persistantly dry are my lips. I have already gone through one tube and one stick of carmex, and half a tube of aquaphor (before I lost it), and I have started my second tube of carmex. As long as I keep them lubed real good, I don't have a problem... but I have bitten into an apple and tore both corners of my lips because I had forgotten to lube up.
Sorry if I'm not making sense. Like I said I'm exhausted. I'm one of those 8 hr/day sleepers, I've gotten 9 in the past 2 days. Ugh.
Anyway, the face looks good. It's a little red when I wash, but I think it was anyway before I started accutane... I can't remember.
Acne is looking better for sure. Cysts are drying up and shrinking. I'm noticing the scarring a little more, but that may be because I'm noticing the acne a little less.
No headaches to speak of. I usually take Ibuprofin in the morning and it lasts all day.
I have a couple suspicious spots on my arm. They look like the beginning of eczema. Who cares, though. I want clear skin. LOL.
Alright. More tomorrow!
I feel pretty decent today. No headaches yet. A couple small ones yesterday, but definitely bearable. I have been working out for about 1.5 hrs everyday. It's been really positive. I figure that once the accutane kicks in, my face will look good and so will my body, and I'll feel really healthy again!
I was saying something like that to my husband, and he said something like I already AM pretty healthy, but it's hard to explain to someone who's never had acne how even if you're in tip top shape, it's hard to feel "healthy" without clear skin. Maybe it's more emotional health. IDK.
Anyway, my face: I woke up with what appears to be a small cyst, but it already has a head forming, on my left cheek. A small pimple above that, which is almost dead. AND one rather large active pimple on my right cheek... hopefully it will dry out by tonight. The trio of cysts that were on my left cheek are almost gone. Other than that, nothing too serious. I'm amazed at seedy blackheads that just fall out of my face when I'm washing it. It's really weird.
Today has been the first morning that I don't have any new active pimples. Yay accutane! The two remaining cysts have (gross) leaked out, and when I washed my face the scabs came off. They look 10 billion times better.
Yesterday I had a constant headache/migraine. If I went longer than 4 hours without ibuprofen I was in a world of hurt. As soon as I got up this morning I took Ibuprofen just in case. No headaches yet! I also haven't worked out this morning yet. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
Other than that. Nothing new.
Hello! Today I woke up with another active zit on my chin and the two remaining cysts came to the surface on my cheek. I got up and went for a run/bike and when I came back in the one on my chin had already dried up here's to hoping the cysts will follow suit!
After being woken up two nights ago to pee, & not being able to go back to sleep, I decided that I needed to make a change in my water drinking routine. Yesterday I probably consumed about 3 liters of water before supper which was at 5, after that I limited my liquid consumption to 12 oz with no liquid after 9 (I go to bed at about 1030) success! I didn't wake up to pee at all last night!
Okay, so back to my face. It's actually looking pretty good. I was a bit dry this morning around my mouth, but I've not been using lotion after I wash my face in the evening. Tonight I'll probably lotion that area. My lips have not peeled yet, but I ALWAYS moisturize them.
Oh, oh I almost forgot. Yesterday I had the WORST headache. I was also feeling nauseous. I feel better today, so I'm going to wait on blaming the medication.
Nothing new to report today on the face front except for the death of lead cyst on the right cheek.
My face is definitely a lot more dry.
I have a horrible taste in my mouth. I cannot even explain what it's like. Hopefully it goes away soon.
Last night, I woke up at 2am to pee (because I drink a tank of water everyday so I pee constantly) and I could NOT go back to sleep. I was having a little anxiety or something. I hope that's not a side effect, because I'm super bitchy when I don't get enough sleep.
Other than that, I feel pretty good. No headaches. No dry skin. NO peely lips. No body aches.
SO the first thing I have to say is I had a pretty good size pimple sprout up on my chest two days ago, well I was just washing my face/chest this evening before bed and it exploded... leaving behind a good little hole I've never had "ch-acne" before, but I guess it's from the accutane?...
Now on to my face. There was a little area of blackheads on the upper end of my cheek bones that I have had for a year or so... I had grown quite used to them. Well, I woke up this morning and they're GONE! I don't know where they went, but they're no longer on my face! Score 1 ACCUTANE
The cluster, yes, cluster of cysts on my right cheek are still hanging around. It sucks because the ring leader LOVES to ooze, so I'm constantly checking it.
My left chin still has some small zits. No cysts thank goodness.
I can feel a couple small bumps forming on my left cheek, but nothing big.
I really hope this is going to be the IB, but I'll keep you posted.
My face as a whole is very RED <-- like that. Not dry at all, with the exception of my eye lids.
Okay, so my face is not lookin so hot today
Right cheek: the cyst that I though was shrinking is still there, along with two other ones
Left cheek: basically clear, no new zits, knock on wood!
Chin: two huge zits on the left but they're drying up.
My lips are pretty starved for moisture. I have to constantly apply lip crap.
My eye lids are super itchy. IDK what the heck that's about. Trying everything from cortizone eo eucerine, to vaseline. Hopefull it'll go away soon, because it's driving me crazy.
I'm completely exhausted. My good friend had surgery today, so I was out helping her family, only to be completely rushed getting home to bring my son to a dental appointment (no time for a make up touch up *grrr*), and then I had to go straight from the appointment to meet my hubby for sushi at this little swag sushi spot still looking like caca. UGH!!
Good news today, my husband finally bought me a bike! I took it out for a spin to unwind. Today would have been one of those days where a glass of wine and a bubble bath would have been marvelous! Oh well.
So I literally just swallowed my 6th Clarvis pill. Yahoo!!
I still don't feel a whole lot different, but I've begun noticing differences in my skin. The cyst that was on my right cheek is all but dried up! I'd say that it was the size of a quarter, but now when I touch it it feels about the size of an eraser. The left side of my face feels pretty amazing... aside from a huge pimple that spouted up yesterday and dried sometime between last night and this morning My chin, well, the right side sprouted a small pimple yesterday, but it's all dried up and crusty now. The left side had two this morning, but they look like they may be drying up too!
I think the hardest thing for me, because I'm a picker, is not to pick when I see a blackhead that is obviously ripe. Ugh!
My lips have that waxy thing going on. They feel really tight and smooth, stilll no peeling, however I opened my mouth yesterday and cracked the corner of my lip My solution? LOTS of lip crap. I'm using a plethora of products: Aquaphor, caramex, CO Bigelow, Josie Maran.
Philosophy: Purity face wash am/pm or whenever I shower
aquaphor heavy moisturizer (the kind in the tub)
vaseline whenever it's needed (tops of hads, elbows, knees)
s of lip stuff
tons of water!
Hey all! So I got the 30 days of accutane!! I'm currently on day 3!
I haven't noticed any significant changes. My lips are a little starved for moisture, but I am a lipgloss junkie, so I dont know if it's just adjusting to changing of products.
I have been a little tired, but perhaps I'm always tired? I have also been a little cranky, but my husband said I can't blame the meds for that :/ bummer!
I still have the cyst on my right cheek, but it has definitely shrunk. A couple new pimples... Nothing I'm not used to.
So, that's it! Hoping things will clear up fast!
but I didn't!
That's life, I suppose. It sucks... especially life with zits.
My second blood draw was on Monday, my second derm appointment was this morning. I'm not pregnant and my labs are awesome, but since my derm mis-calculated the 30 day wait, I actually have to sit on my prescription until Friday when iPledge will let me answer my questions. Stupid!
My face looks horrible. Not the WORST it has ever looked, but I have a cyst on my left cheek that is thinking about surfacing into a million zits, and I was hoping the TANE would dry them up.
So SICK of looking at my skin.
CANNOT WAIT until Friday.
