I forgot to add that vaseline is my bestfriend for my lips. They get dry very quickly and I put it on as often as possible. Its a lot cheaper than aquaphor and works just as good if not better. Also day 14 is when I really notice that my oil was pretty much non-existent.
Since the last time I blogged a couple of things have changed. I started to get a rash on my right arm about 2 days ago. The other thing that has changed is that my pores are starting to purge where they haven't in a very long time. On my cheeks right under my eyes I have always had large clogged pores, but even if I tried to manually unclog that area, it was way too sensitive to even try because of the inflammation from all the oil. It hasn't even been a month and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE ACCUTANE! My confidence has sky rocketed just from the oil decrease. I'm not clear yet and I get an occasional cyst every so often but my face feels smooth compared to before.Everything that is purging is hard sebum so that means it has finally dried up. I don't even use oil blotting sheets anymore and my eye makeup doesn't smear everywhere! I have been a little more tired than usual but nothing I can't handle.
So it's been a week since my last post and some things have changed. I can tell that my lips have dried a little. After about day 3 my face felt really oily but nastier than usual. I guess my face was starting to purge and push oil to the surface. My face is still oily, maybe a slight decrease but not really. I am starting to have the initial breakout.
On my left cheek I have 4 cysts. One HUGE one on my chin with 2 other small ones, and on my right cheek I have 2 on my cheekbone.
I can still see that my huge pores are clogged. There is still a lot of room for improvement but I have also just begun my journey.
Today is my 2nd day on Accutane. I'm 5'3" and weigh 100 lbs. I will be taking accutane for 6 months with 40 mg per day. I take one pill with milk in the morning. So far no side effects or changes so time will only tell. For those of you who do not have insurance I can provide you a little information on the monthly costs. It costs about $95 per doctor visit, $264/month for accutane, $9 for birth control and $85 for monthly lab fees. Roughly I'm paying $450 out of pocket per month!!! I hope one course will fix my problem
Let me introduce myself. My name is Amanda and I live in central Texas. I have been dealing with acne since the 5th grade(10yrs old). I began getting little bumps on my nose and redness around my nostril area. This continued into the 6th grade and in the 7th grade is when I really began getting pimples. This is also when the oiliness arrived. Since then I have never truly had a clear face. In the 10th grade I began seeing a dermatologist after begging my mom to let me. I was prescribed numerous topicals and other methods of treatment but nothing made me 100% clear. The doctor asked me if I would like to try accutane but declined because my mom did not like the sound of the side/adverse effects. I am now 22 and have made the choice to take accutane. My breakouts mainly occur on my chin, cheeks and jawline area but I do get pimples in other areas of my face occasionally. I get about 2-3 cystic pimples every 2-3 weeks. My face is EXTREMELY OILY and I dont know if the pimples or the oiliness bothers me more. I use 3-4 oil blotting sheets every 3-4 hours but by the end of the day my make-up is smeared. Without makeup my face is red and my pores are HUGE(t zone area) so I feel very insecure without it.
