Day 20 (?)

Once again, I'm at home with my puppy because I didn't want to go out with my friends when I have two red cysts on my chin that HURTS. At least my puppy is happy. It feels like everything I do is to make my skin clear (eating right, researching constantly, taking vitamins all day) and nothing is working. Is it my pill? I've been on Alesse for over a year now and it's made me break out off and on, but not to this extent. My forehead is covered in bumps, I have one big zit just above my lip, and two huge ones on my chin. I even have on on my cheek and I never get zits there. I switched from Diane to Alesse hoping to 'taper off" bcp all together, because Alesse was one of the lower estrogin pills. This week is my week off the active pills. If I break out this crazy after 3 days, whats it gonna be like when i'm off the pill for a month, 2 months, a year?!! If it gets any worse I am ready to go to the doctor next weekend.....I don't know if I want to swtich BCP...the whole reason I've been staying on Alesse was to get ready to go off BCP all together. Now that I have a wedding to look pretty for I don't know what to do. I bought the Tanda light therapy treatment today. SO expensive....but if I think about going to a spa to get this treatment, I guess this is cheap. There may not be much scientific evidence behind this, but I've heard good things. It's charging right now - can't wait to test it out!! I may have to quit taking Vitamin B5....my stomach has been so upset and I feel like I've been losing way too much weight because of this. I do feel that my face was getting way less oiler though...what a shame I can't keep taking it.

Day 11

I am so upset Even though I was getting a lot of little zits, I thought my cystic acne was getting under control...and then I wake up this morning with 2 huge red bumps on my chin. We went out to a bar last night to celebrate my friend's engagement, and I did have a couple glasses of white wine. There wasn't much I could eat, so I just ate tuna tataki and yam fries. Otherwise my diet has been real good all week. Could it be Omega 3 or Cetaphil? These are the only two new things I've started this week. My stomach has been a little upset all week too, and I'm thinking the B5 is to blame. I'm getting married in 6 months and I don't want to worry about my skin!! Im starting to think going off BCP right now may not be a good idea. But then again, being on it is not helping at all either. I don't know if I should go see my naturopath and keep on trying the natural way, or go to my GP and put more chemicals in my body for the time being just to clear me til my wedding I didn't go out with my friends tonight....I am at home with my puppy watching TV and trying to dry out my two cysts with an aspiring mask. How depressing. I was so pissed I at toast today - first time i 3 months I had wheat! I'll probably break out from that too. SIGH.

Day 10

Haven't written in a while....was a veeery busy week!! My skin has been acting weird. It was OK during my boarding trip, despite sweating & being in the snow and eating lots of snacks (gluten-free snacks like rice chips, but I still try not to eat too much carbs so I dont feed the candida). My skin has definitely been less oily lately and I think it's due to the vitamin B5! But I'm still getting a lot of under the skin bumps which mostly go away without getting too big but it scares me and Im constantly checking my face. Still getting bumps on my forehead and chin. I started taking Omega 3 and changed my cleanser to cetaphil. It's only been two days, so not sure if it's working. I am SO tired of worrying about my skin, and I feel like I can never go off the pill now. I think I'm gonna go see my naturopath again. Even though he's expensive, he did help clear me for a couple months last year....just need to know whats wrong with me this time around!

Day 4

Stressful day at work....I cheated again and had some wine tonight. But so far, it doesn't seem like I'm breaking out from it. My clogged pores on my chin formed into tiny pimples. I was able to pop them though so I'm relieved. Normally this would have turned into a cyst, so I'm hoping it's because of my diet & crazy amount of supplements I've been taking! Hoping to take less once I figure out what works and what doesn't. No more thirst or chapped lips, so maybe it was all my imagination? I still feel like my face is oily, but less breakouts. I wonder if this is the vitamin B5 or spearmint tea? Oh by the way I'm loving the tea! actually tastes yummy. I'm worried about going away this weekend. I always seem to breakout when I go away. I stocked up on some gluten-free, low sugar, organic treats so hopefully I won't cheat too much! Breakfast: Healthy skin w/ greens (with almond milk) Rice ball w/sour plum (made with brown rice) - probably sounds gross, but it's delicious!!! Lunch: Left over dinner - mahi mahi, brown rice, Japanese veggies Dinner: Tofu Pad Thai & broccoli

Day 3

I was thirsty ALL day. My lips are chapped and bleeding. AND I have an ulcer in my mouth! Must be the vitamin B5. I didn't think I was even taking that much Maybe I'll only take 2 x 500mg tomorrow. My huge nose zit keeps popping every time I wash my face. Ewww. But at least it's getting smaller. Other than that, I have 2 new, red tiny but painful pimples under my nose. I never get anything there! I have a couple suspicious clogged pores on my chin now too, so I'm getting worried. I wanted to be zit-free this weekend for my snowboarding trip!!! Boo. Breakfast: Healthy Skin + Greens (with unsweetened almond milk) Oatmeal Soy Latte (cheat!!) Lunch: Pad Thai (rice noodles, veggies, beef) Dinner: Mahi Mahi steamed chinese Veggies I bought mint/spearmint tea!! Had 2 cups today....hope this fights off those clogged pores!!

Day 2

My chin area is looking pretty good today! I have no active pimples, just red scars. The only zit on my face is the huge red painful one on my nose.....I accidently "popped" it this morning as I was washing my face. I hope it doesn't scar The Vitamin B5 is making my stomach grumble. Haven't felt nauseous or anything though. I haven't noticed much difference in the oil on my face, but then again I'm only taking 3 x 500mg....Unless I start breaking out in my chin I probably won't up the dose yet. Breakfast: Healthy Skin with GREENS w/ almond milk oatmeal Lunch: left over dinner (ground beef, daikon & tomatoes over quinoa) Snack: Almonds Dinner: Quinoa & veggie pilaf plain omelette (with omega 3 eggs) The last time I ate almonds I thought I broke out from it, so I tried again today to make sure. It didn't come up on my food sensitivity test, but for a while it felt like everything was breaking me out! We'll see if I get any new pimples tomorrow!

Day 1

This is day 1 of my blog. MY HISTORY: I am a 27 year old female. I have been suffering from mild ~ moderate acne since I was a teenager. When I was around 15 - 16 I lost a lot of weight. Although I gained it back, ever since my periods were very irregular. When I turned 20, my periods pretty much stopped. I also started to develop cystic acne, mostly on my chin. I was deperate to find a cure (especially because I was modeling part-time, and not getting a lot of work due to my skin!). My doctor recommended the BCP Diane which helped my skin tremendously. After 3 years or so I decided to switch BCP because I heard being on Diane for too long was not good for you. I went on tri cyclen for about a year, but my skin wasn't too happy with that. I went back on Diane for a year. Finally last year, I switched to Alesse. NOW: I still get cysts on my chin, and now I have small pimples on my forehead too. Right now I have a huuuge red zit on my nose!! I want to quit taking BCP all together, but want to prepare myself before doing so. If I'm beaking out even when I'm taking BCP, I'm scared how much I'll break out when I go off them. I went to a naturopath in October. He told me that I have a candida overgrowth. I've been following a diet which is similar to the candida diet - I've been avoiding foods I was told I was sensitive to, such as gluten, wheat, starchy veggies like potatoes & carrots, dairy, pork, to name a few. I also started taking probiotics, candicin (to eliminate candida overgrowth), and chlorella. My skin cleared up for about 2 months! I was so happy and I was so ready to quit BCP. BUT 2 weeks ago I started breaking out again. I just started taking Vitamin B5, so hopefully that will help. I am also looking into trying spearmint tea. It's SO frusrating I feel like my life revolves around my acne. I've been so good about my diet, but I had to cheat today with a glass of wine. Breakfast: Healthy Skin + Greens smoothie Oatmeal Lunch Rice, Roast Beef, Broccoli Snack: Apple Dinner: Japanese dish w/ daikon radish, tomatoes, and lean ground beef Quinoa Glass of Red Wine I also drink lots of rooibos tea & green tea throughtout the day! My regimen: AM: - cleanse with Tersaseptic - 50% Apple Cider Vinegar 50% Rooibos Tea as toner - moisturize with Aveeno Clear Complexion - bare escentuals mineral makeup only where needed PM - cleanse with OLAY deep cleansing daily facials - 50% Apple Cider Vinegar 50% Rooibos Tea as toner - Aspirin mask on spots (left on overnight) - decleor ylang ylang purifying night balm Supplements: AM: Health Skin + GREENS ( I mix this with unsweetened Almond Milk) Vitamin B5 500mg Zinc for Acne (Zing 25mg + Vitamin C, Vitamin B6) HMF Probiotics Ribes Nigrum Gemmotherapy (for adrenal support) Candicin PM: same as above, without GREENS + biotin
