As you may have noticed with earlier posts throughout the year; I tried out Dan's Regimen, but to no avail. So here I am, back again, starting a new blog, this time with PICTURES! Oooooo pretty......
But yes, I'm now on 40mg of Roaccutane with 15mg of Prednisolone a day, just to reduce inflammation. Lets hope these upcoming months cure me eh?
Any queries about experience, or just someone to talk to, feel free to write a comment, or just message me. I'll be updating every few days with new pictures each time, just to track my own progress and for your benefit also.
Just for quick introduction to my own personality (as i'm filled with emotion, not just pus!);
-I am studying Philosophy for my Bachelors at University. I love it, it's become a way of life and I hope to carry it on with me after.
-I play guitar, yay, music.
That's it. I'll reveal more next week to keep ya'll entertained. Or at least I like to think I will. Who knows?
So I am around, 3 months fully in. I'm still breaking out, quite harshly. My skin will die down, then it will erupt, then die down, clear up, give me hope, then erupt again.
On a brighter note, for those who may have read my earlier blogs, I got my offer from York University, so I just need to knuckle down for exams.
I have hope for this regimen. Most medication systems take around 6 months to show noticeable effects, even in some messageboards I've been told to wait for 6 months. So that's what I'm going to do.
If you have any questions about the regimen for me and how it may help you, don't hestitate to ask!
Honestly? Things in my life are running so so so smooth. My skin however isn't. It's dry, it's flakey, it's spotty ALL the time.
Acne keeps reforming, though I think this was due to my Jojoba oil incorporation. I haven't taken any risks, so I'm keeping it out until my skin is clear. I will get clear. I'm sure of it.
My band recorded a song on Saturday, the quality is excellent. May even put a link up when it's released here just for promotion purposes. . My job is going swimmingly too. I'm an official McWorker, which in hindsight is a great company to work for as I can hopefully transfer to work at a McDonalds near my Uni!
STILL WAITING ON YORK .
I will get clear, I will get clear, I will get clear, I will get clear.
The Jojoba oil came today, I also went out last night dispite the flaking. Had a wonderful drunk time with some old friends. Been hanging awfully today though.
On to more pressing matters, THINGS ARE CLEARING UP. Fingers crossed that this initial breakout is one of the last extremes and that things can push forward. I have one tiny active white head, everything else is starting to fade.
Jojoba oil works wonders with flakes, I literally feel like I can smile with no crumbling effect. HOWEVER, I'm yet to see if it purges my skin and breaks it out, if it hasn't done it now, I doubt it will tomorrow. My skin feels so supple, it's never been this soft before! Would really reccomend it to you all.
So yeah, we'll see how things go, I'll update again on Monday or Tuesday to let you all know whether or not I'm on the way to clear skin-dom.
So, went out to a mates gig tonight, came home flaking, red face, inflamed spots everywhere. Really put a massive downer on my progress.
I couldn't resist picking some, but now I feel guilty about it.
I'm not going out tomorrow night if there is no improvement on my skin.
I don't really want to go to my interview either.
I just feel so held back.
Not much to say. Hope things get better during the week. If not, then my girlfriend will probably be in for a shock.
Dan's what to expect section states at the end of week 2.
"Further clearing, followed perhaps by a breakout. The breakout clears more quickly than usual. Skin is slightly less red and irritated. Red spots from old acne linger."
Great news is, I'm on week 1, my skin is less red, less irritated, clearer, flaking (expected), BUT, I have had what I would call a major breakout, quite painful spots just on my jaw line, only two are active white heads but still its a break out. To be honest I expected it, but it's put a bit of a downer on myself when I was so hopeful, BUT, acne can take 2 weeks to form so there is still hope. Apparently this breakout SHOULD clear a lot quicker but we'll have to see. It hurt to apply moisturizer tonight, I upped my BP usage to around a thin fingers length, going to get to the full dose by the end of week 2.
The flaking is really, really hard to control, I don't want to smile. My face is no longer tight, but when I smile, the flakes decide to appear! Jojoba oil, I pray you arrive when I wake or come home from school tomorrow. I pray these inflamed spots will calm down too.
There is definitely an improvement and yes, a breakout was to be expected. Things can only go up from here I guess. Feel free to ask me any questions on my progress or something you may be stuck on.
Slight progress. Still flaking, still red. Acne is fading. Slight breakout but not serious. Just floating on by this week until next to be honest.
I got a new chair for my room, doesn't seem like a serious event in my life, but it's so COMFORTABLE! Perfect for playing Oblivion! .
Moisturizer isn't stinging really after applying BP either. Everything is going as planned and foretold by Dan.
So this morning I wake up with ALOT of flaking, not great for a day of school to be honest. I went in and tried to keep my face down as much as possible, even my friends noticed I was a bit off. I just said i was tired. Got home, flaking like hell!
Everything always is perfect on the wrong day though! I'm seeing Black Swan on wednesday, really, really looking forward to it. I also manged to get 2.5% BP on prescription! ALSO, I got a job interview on Friday where a couple of mates work. PERFECT. if i'm still flaking by then though, not so so great......
I did however order jojoba oil from amazon, hopefully it will come on Wednesday or Thursday in time to get rid of the flaking for Friday's interview. If not, I'm going to panic. Maybe the flakes will come and go by then? I seem to be getting through this regime at a fast past to be honest. My initial break out came 3 days after the start of the routine and are fading quickly. The redness and irritation is starting to decrease, but the sides of my mouth are horribly dry and red. Just got to stick it out and have the right mindset.
Speaking of mindsets, if people ask me why im red or flaking over the next few days, i'm just going to tell them the truth. It makes me feel so much better and I think it's sort of a relief to know that you're not hiding anything and just being open. I told a few friends today and they just looked at me like I was crazy, one friend even said 'You don't even have acne!', but hey ho, live and learn.
So it's 10.15pm. I just put on my moisturizer and it stung like HELL! Really hoping I get used to this soon, it's not a nice sensation, considering I still feel as dry as a nun after. Hoping the jojoba makes my week and comes soon!
The girlfriend is also at a Karaoke tonight, she said if she sings, she'll endeavour to sing one of two of our songs. Either 'Dusk and Summer' by Dashboard Confessional, or 'Collide' by Howie Day. Bit gay, but it's a loving relationship, it's allowed! Seeing her in around 10 days too!
My next target for this regime, is to be able to smile and to be clear enough to go out with my girlfriend next Friday. Wish me luck everyone! New update tomorrow night!
Suckerpunching time! I'm watching P.S I love you on TV, not going to lie, welled up at the point when she rang her husbands voicemail after he died . Made me somewhat appreciate what I had for that small amount of time. .
Well, it's day 4, just applied my BP, waiting an hour or so before I apply the moisturizer. My face goes bright red after applying it, but it does settle down to a slight tinge. My face is feeling less irritated and tight but this may just be a good day. I'm finding it hard to smile!
My mum said she'd find me some Jojoba oil in town this Wednesday, hopefully it will help with the tightness.
I'm also going out to town on Friday night for a mates 18th, I'm hoping my face will look somewhat presentable. If not, I'll be too smashed to notice anyway.
Not a long entry, but I don't really have much to say this evening, just chilling. Got to get up early for school tomorrow so not good. Still waiting on my offer from York.
So yeah, this is my third day on Dan's regimen. I'm using Panoxyl Acnegel (2.5%), Nivea Oil Free Fluid Moisturizer and a simple PH friendly Cleanser.
Things are going, well, better than expected. I played a gig last night, it may have been the lighting, or lack of, but my skin looked fine. No redness and only surefire signs of a few fading spots. Coming home into a different light however did show a lot of inflammation
It's now my 3rd night on the regimen, I apply half a fingers length of BP and a LOT of moisturizer. I'm going to be pumping up to full dose BP perhaps by Thursday, defintiely depends on my progress thoguh. It stings a lot when I apply the Nivea and the BP doesn't half dry my mouth shut, but it's all for a good cause I guess.
I'm going shopping with my ex tomorrow, we've become very close friends recently, almost like brother and sister, my current girlfriend of 13 months doesn't seem too pleased about it, but she respects the fact the I still have friends on my side of the country! Hopefully no one will stare too much at my tomato styled tan.
Which leads me to introduce everything about this blog! My name is Charlie and I live in Bedfordshire in the UK. I'm 18 yearas old. My girlfriend and I have been together for 13 happy months and she has moved to Lincoln (100 miles away) to study Law at University. I'll hopefully be studying Philosophy at York this year (fingers crossed). I started this regimen 2 weeks prior to going up and visiting her for a couple of days, so here's hoping that the redness will have faded away! I have suffered from mild/moderate acne for a good 3 years and was prescribed erythromyocin tablets a year ago. This definitely reduced my acne but it wasn't good enough, so I started Dan's regimen on Thursday 27th in my attempt to rid it!
All questions about my regimen and my progress are welcome. This site has the most supportive community and I would love to do my best to be a part of it. I would love to hear your side of your stories and opinons.
