1 healing pimple that will be just PIH by tomorrow, and that is it
My face is somewhat burning/itching after moisturizer when I do BP at night. This is due to the fact that I just bumped it up to 2 pumps recently. I still look a bit tan during the day after BHA, but not nearly as bad as it is at night (I get somewhat red). Hopefully this subsides soon. I'm not panicking in any way, just hoping this irritation subsides completely. I am barely flaking at all, the BHA is exfoliating very nicely. I haven't seen a flake for awhile during the day.
The acne end is looking wonderful at the moment. The PIH is fading nicely now that I am using the BHA in the morning. These two treatments work very well together I can see. Hopefully the blackheads on my nose start to fade as well. I'm pretty happy this is coming around
Well I got up to 2 pumps of BP
I have 2 pimples at the moment, the big embarassing kind.
One of them was a little blackhead on the side of my face and it basically came out of hiding and exploded into a pustule/whitehead (its not really that inflamed). Anyhow, my skin overall is looking better as far as the tone of it and it is not that oily. The clogged pores are still coming to the surface, so this may take a week or two to get past this IB. Seems like the BHA is really going to town on these clogged pores, I just hope they get smaller and smaller. I think using more BP definitely is going to help keep the breakouts smaller, but it is too early to start expecting results. I hate knowing something is working but having to go through the bad times first. '
I'll stop bitching now. Overall I'm happy so far. PIH is fading nicely now as well.
Happy New Year everyone, and good luck
Well my skin was looking great 3 days ago. I, however, did some plowing for our recent snowstorm and I didn't moisturize before I went out at 4 a.m. When I came home my face was beet red. I think it was a combination of not moisturizing any extra (the wind/snow/cold was quite damaging) and the fact that I put on a little extra BP that night. Anyhow I have one pimple that healed already that sprouted on Christmas day, and currently I have 2 active pimples. I also have a pimple that isn't inflamed that is about to come to a head. It very well might become inflamed by tomorrow morning, though.
What is interesting is that every pimple I have gotten in the last 5 days (only 3) was a clogged pore that was sitting on the surface. It appears that the BHA is purging the existing clogged pores (which I am happy about). Hopefully it will start to work on the blackheads. '
I also increased the nightly BP to 1 and a half pumps. I still don't use much on my forehead and nose, but I do use it on my neck too, so I need to use enough to get a generous amount in the areas that I am concentrating on.
As I said before, my skin was looking great (very even toned, nice overall) before the snow plowing. Hopefully this irritation subsides soon.
Hope everyone had a great holiday
Today was the first day I used Paula's Choice 2% BHA gel. Used it this morning. It takes a long time to dry. It's either that or I used too much . Anyhow, my skin is pretty much clear, and now I'm hoping that the BHA eliminates my comedonal acne. I have been quite social lately... funny how that works. I have been using BP once a day for 5 days now, and I haven't broken out badly yet (fingers crossed). Oh, I almost broke my right index finger yesterday and now it's a bitch to wash and apply treatment/lotion. I've been having to take off my splint every time I go to the sink or shower. 'Til next time.
I had to stop using the BP twice a day. My face was flaking like crazy again, red, irritated ARGHHHH. The past 3 days I have used it once a day. I have been using 1 pump, and plan on keeping it at 1 pump for awhile. I ordered some of Paula's Choice 2% BHA gel, and plan on using that in the morning like I would normally use BP. I did this because the comedonal acne that I have simply sits there and waits to become inflamed. This is very frustrating, because BP doesn't seem to zap those fuckers. I have heard good things about this combination, and I hope that it works for me. I actually somehow really think that it will. BP has been doing a great job, but I still see the clogged pores sitting there... just waiting for their day to claim a red mark on my face. Hopefully the BHA will prevent this. Anyhow, I have.... well... 0 active pimples. The two pimples that I did have have both dried up and are probably going to slough off by tomorrow night. Yes, yes, I know, I should keep going like this. Well, the problem is mainly the dryness and the comedonal acne. Since BHA is an exfoliant, I don't think that I will have much of a problem with dryness and flaking. Also, BHA, in many aspects, can actually complement BP by un-clogging clogged pores and allowing the BP to penetrate deeper into the pore. Well, I'm pretty sure this is actually going to work this time. However, I have learned to not get too excited, because every time I do I end up back pedaling. Til' next time.
Well, the breakout is pretty much gone. I'm glad I started using the BP on my neck too, because I have found that it was hiding some rather unkind pimples. Right now I have two zits with 2 others healing on my face. My neck has 2 pimples too (I classify them as seperate regions). Still no increase in the dosage. I'm waiting for this dryness to go the hell away. Still flaky when I wake up. Not going to increase until that goes away. The stinging has diminished, however, so that is probably a sign that the dryness is going to go away pretty soon as well.
There is this area on my chin which, before I started back up again, had about 4 or 5 clogged pores that were staying below the surface. The bastards have seemed to all make their way up though. Relentless sons of bitches. Going to bed. Hope I don't wake up to a pile of flakes in the morning
BP really does kick the shit out of pimples. The active acne that I had yesterday is pretty much all gone. The dryness/redness is at a tolerable level, though still too high to increase the dosage. I have one larger pustule on my jaw line that has been on and off for 3 or 4 days now, a very small one right next to it, the same one on my mustache area came to a head and will probably be gone after tomorrow, and 2 small ones on my forehead.. I have like 3 or 4 healing/healed zits. All and all, considering maybe 2 or 3 of my pimples are even noticeable, I would say not too bad. I'm just hoping the dryness goes away completely or goes to a very minimal level so I can go up. Hopefully by the time school gets back in session I can be up to, or at least close to, the full dosage. That would be nice. However, with acne I have learned to not put my hopes too high. They usually end up getting shattered. 'Til next time.
After skipping two morning applications (on day 13 and 14), I went back to using twice a day again. The redness/peeling was pretty bad, and has since subsided. It was mainly in the "around the mouth" area. My forehead and part of my cheeks are starting to get it now too. I have maybe 7 zits at the moment. 2 or 3 little ones on my forehead that aren't very noticeable, 2 big ones on my chin (ugly-looking pustules... eww), one near the corner of my mouth that is healing, and a small one right on my mustache area. The thing I am happy about is that the dryness is subsiding (fingers crossed), as it was really bad a few days ago. I think the CeraVe is helping, and I'm adding 4-6 drops of jojoba to it morning and night. This pretty much eliminates all the flakes. Anywho, the acne part isn't that bad, the dryness isn't bad. Once the dryness is gone on my forehead, and if it stays away around my mouth area, I plan on increasing to 1 pump. As I said before, I'm taking my time this time around and not exacerbating my acne by irriating my skin with more BP than it can handle. The dryness/redness from a few days ago really had me worrying that I was allergic to BP or something. Then I remembered I went through the same BS the first time around, except it was much worse the first time. I just hope it stays away now with this current dosage. 'Til next time.
Well, I thought because I had been on the Regimen for 6 weeks, that the initial "hardening effect" of BP wasn't going to happen this time. Wow, I was so wrong. My face has been burning for the last 2 days. It usually comes about 10-15 minutes after moisturizing and lasts for about 8-10 hours. It is very mild, but it persists for a long time. There are two patches under my eyes that look like they have been sunburned. A lady at work today told me my face looked swollen. Although I appreciated her concern, I wasn't in the mood for it. Plus, it isn't "swelling", its mostly just red-looking. I remember this same experience from the first go-round. It was basically just like a sun-burn on my face. Then it started peeling and went away. However, since the last time I kept upping the dosage, the peeling didn't stop. Anywho, I have 2 healing zits, both of which sprouted Wednesday night. That is about all on the acne side. I'm starting to wonder if I am allergic to BP and/or the CeraVe lotion caused this reaction. Light burning started on Wedneday, the day after I started using the CeraVe. However, I have a feeling that this was going to happen no matter what, because the dryness was getting worse every day, even when I was using Dan's. I do like the CeraVe moisturizer, but I just want to get through this damn stage with as little irriation as possible. I'm going to use BP tonight (in less than an hour actually), then see how it goes for the rest of the night. If it doesn't calm down by tomorrow, I'm going to skip BP tomorrow.
Question: Has anyone had this "sunburn" effect happen to them after they stopped using BP and then started up again. I had 5 days in between when I stopped and started again, and had been using it for 6 weeks (the dryness was still pretty bad, but the "sunburn" feeling had diminished).
Well... I can't believe I'm saying this.... but my skin is clear. Since I began October 13 (of course I stopped for 5 days then started back up), today would have been 8 weeks. This is why I'm not that surprised that my skin cleared up this quickly. Two little comedones look like they are about to become pimples, but nothing I'm worried about. I'm using maybe 2/3 of a pump of BP. I apply most of it around my problem areas and dab a little bit on my nose and forehead. My nose and forehead seem to only require a little bit of BP to stay clear. I changed moisturizers because Dan's yellow stuff just isn't cutting it. I tried applying generously, hell I tried everything. I bought some CeraVe moisturizing lotion, in hopes that a glycerin based moisturizer would help. So far it has cut down a little on the dryness. My face is still a bit red, but it was like this the day I switched moisturizers. I hope the CeraVe gets me back on track on eliminating irriation. The dryness is mainly around the mouth/chin area, just like it is for most people. Not too many flakes, just dryness after I wash. It does have a slight stinging sensation, but I think most glycerin based moisturizers do, especially when you switch over from a non-glycerin based moisturizer such as Dan's. Overall, I'm pretty happy. It seems like I'm finally coming around. I hope the CeraVe works because I'm about damn tired of the redness and dryness, especially when only using 2/3 of a pump twice a day. Anyhow, I don't think I will have to increase my dosage very much more, which is somewhat of a relief. I just hope my skin takes this CeraVe well. 'Til next time.
The dryness is back. It is not nearly as bad as it was before, but I am starting to see little flakes after I wash and occasionally I'll spot one or two several hours after I moisturize. This is with a little more than a half pump of BP (I'm using it for part of my neck, too). The skin around my mouth/chin area is somewhat red and makes my PIH look worse than it is. Right now I have one zit on my face... that's it. I have a few on my neck, but I just recently started applying BP there so I'm not worried about it. I think that Dan's new moisturizer is kind of crappy. It seems like the ingredients are aimed to soothe inflamed/irritated skin rather than to moisturize it. Since it is what I have been using, I am going to stick with it. However, if it takes longer than a week to get rid of the dryness from this dosage, I may have to start looking in to other moisturizers. I have learned that my forehead requires only a small amount of BP to stay clear, so I am using more around my cheeks and chin area than I am on my forehead area. This helps in keeping my forehead clear of irriation also, which I am happy about. The BP is working great so far, and once this irritation dies down I will increase to a full pump. I honestly think that 1 pump will be enough to keep me clear, especially since I don't need to use as much for my forehead. This will be good to keep the dryness down too. Anyhow, everything is just dandy and I hope it stays that way.
I used BP morning and night today. The dryness looks like it is coming back.... . Small flakes come up after I cleanse.... which is quite unsettling. I really don't know whether it is the moisturizer, or what. But I really hope that this doesn't become worse like it was several weeks ago. One noticeable zit right now. A few healing. Acne looks pretty good. The dryness is really going to piss me off it comes back full force. I started using the 3 pumps like recommended. We will see how it goes.
Wow, I saw a few tiny little flakes! Man, how I love them. It was after I showered this morning. I'm not worried about it, the dryness is very minimal. Increasing to twice a day tomorrow. I have been using 3 pumps of moisturizer lately. When I found out that three pumps was the correct amount, I had just stopped using the Regimen. It is actually good that it was this time because I also found out before I started back up that I got a BP tube with a temporary ordered pump while they were transitioning from the old pump to the new pump. The one I have dispenses the correct amount at 2 pumps. I can only imagine what my skin would have looked like if I was using 3 pumps (6 mL). Eek. Bad site right there. But I'm still using half a pump (probably a little bit more, maybe 2/3). I have 2 small little whiteheads, one pustule, a few old zits healing and a few smaller ones forming. Only 1 really noticeable zit out of all of them. Seems to be working okay. Hopefully twice a day doesn't bring back massive flaking. Well... even if it does I'm not increasing the dosage until it goes away. Anyhow, felt I should update since I didn't yesterday (I know what a Greek tragedy).
Day number 4. I can't stand those zits that just evolve into nothing but white shit. After a day or so, the pustules that I get are no longer red, but they are just completely white and stick out above the surface. I have one right now on the corner of my mouth. That is probably the most unattractive spot to have a raging zit hanging from your face. Blah blah, I'll be okay. 2 pustules is all I have to really report, one about to go away and the other about to sprout like jack's beanstalk. A few smaller lesions that aren't noticeable, some healing, some forming. Skin looks overall pretty good. PIH is fading, skin tone is still normal. Very little dryness :]. I am anxious to go to two times a day, but I know I have to be patient . A half pump is actually pretty difficult to spread all over my face without irriation. I think maybe this is part of the reason why complete clearing comes when your using such a generous amount. The amount of BP kind of eliminates all possible irritation. Unless your rubbing your face like your trying to get a genie out of a bottle, it is almost impossible to irritate your skin when using two pumps of BP. Anyhow, that is a long way in front of me. I hope everything keeps going good :]
Day numero tres :]. A breakout is in store for me.... hurray! I haven't broken out quite yet, but I see the clogged pores mobilizing for attack on my chin area. I don't know what it is with my chin area, but that is always where I have gotten the most acne. Maybe one active zit right now, with more on the way. No dryness to report yet. Still applying BP once a day. I almost can't wait to go to two times a day. I'm trying my best to be patient. Hopefully it works out this time.
No dryness.... yet. Still applying BP once at night. I washed and moisturized this morning. Dan's new moisturizer feels great on my skin. I know that many agree that it is not as moisturizing as the old one. I wouldn't really know because I never used the old one, but this moisturizer is great. It is quite soothing and leaves my skin looking great :]. I am probably just saying this because I can finally see skin that isn't red and flaky, but I really do like the moisturizer.
Skin Status: The papule that was in the crease of my chin became a full blown zit (that was expected). That is the only noticeable pimple right now (HURRAYYY). I have a pustule about to develop right on the corner of my mouth (HATE those pimples). Not too bad right now.
So my skin is soft and smooth again (yay!). I applied about a half pump of BP tonight. I'm going to start off with an every night application. After the dryness hits and subsides I'm going to start doing a half pump twice a day. I'm pretty sure the pump I have dispenses the correct amount (it's not one of the big round ones). I'm using all of the acne.org products, and I'm going to try and lay off of the jojoba oil for awhile.
Skin Status: 3 pustules, one on chin area about a 1/4 inch below my lip two on my jawline, both on the right side of my face. 1 papule in the crease of my chin on the left side of my face. Several blackheads on my nose still . PIH mostly along chin area and jawline (mostly on the right side of my face) with maybe 3 or 4 PIH marks scattered here and there on my cheekbones.
So the flakes are subsiding. These 3 pimples have all come to a head and have yet to clear. They are not that bad, actually, just pink little whiteheads/pustules. Been using AHA to kind of help my skin recover. It's funny, AHA doesn't burn anymore when I'm off the Regimen for even a few days! Maybe I have just gotten more used to it, or maybe my skin was just that sensitive. Either way, it is good to see somewhat healthy skin again. Well, it is about time to Black Friday shop. Maybe I'll find a product I can use while I'm out for 90% off or something. :]
So after being on the Regimen for 6 weeks, I honestly couldn't handle the dryness anymore. I was using the 2 pumps of BP for the last 2 weeks, and man was it drying! I decided to stop using BP until my skin recovers, and then I'm going to begin again much more slowly. It has been roughly 36 hours since I last used BP and my face is still flaking somewhat. The redness is gone, but there was dryness after cleansing. I honestly wonder how much skin I have shed in the last 3-4 weeks from all of this BP. It is absolutely mind blowing! This is why they tell you to start slowly LOL! I used my AHA moisturizer (Lac Hydrin 5) to try and get rid of some of the flakiness about 2 hours ago after cleansing (I use Dan's cleanser). Good news is, I can actually feel my skin returning to.... normal? I can see that I am going to have a breakout already, but most of the lesions that are coming up look like they had been hiding underneath the dead skin on my face. I honestly couldn't stand having a big pile of dead skin all over my face, which is exactly what it looked and felt like. My skin is producing oil again, which I am somewhat indifferent about. Overall my acne isn't all that bad, maybe 2 or 3 noticable lesions on my chin and a few miniscule ones on my forehead that I honestly didn't notice without looking closely. There is some PIH, but it actually looks better now than it did that last time I used BP. I plan on starting BP again in the next few days once a day. There is no way I am going to have my face be one big irritated mess! Irritation is a big cause of acne in the first place, I don't need my face being a big pile of dead skin! I'll probably be keeping a daily log of progress, so if your interested in hearing my experiences, tune in. This time around I am going to be much more kind to my skin, and hopefully it will return the favor. 'Til next time.
