Day 6:

Day 6: Link for the high-res photo: Shot at 2010-10-04 Daily Description: Day 6. Yesterday was very hard, and even this morning was a bit tempting. BUT I have managed to stay strong... Mostly because of this blog! So I shall keep blogging, and keep sharing my thoughts on how I am doing. First off, if you don't have a strong will... Then this isn't the right plan for you. Although raw foods are healthy, they are hard to live off of when you are so used to fulfilling and cooked foods. Nuts, seeds, fruits, and vegetables are all wonderful... BUT none of those give you that fulfilling- feeling when you eat. They say an addiction is defined by what it replaces in your body. For example: Caffeine replaces adrenaline. So when you are addicted to it and consume large amounts of caffeine, your body naturally stops producing adrenaline. Why? Because you are already getting it on a daily basis from the coffee! (Or soda or whatever). SO, when you kick caffeine out of your daily life... Guess what? You will get super tired and feel drowsy for a few weeks. Why? Because your body has yet to start processing and producing adrenaline again. BUT, after you kick out the caffeine and your body starts producing adrenaline again, you should start feeling less drowsy and more energized again. WITHOUT fancy $3 drinks from Starbucks. (Trust me, I would know, I kicked caffeine out a long time ago). Anyways, back on track. Food is the same type of addiction. When you "over eat" and over consume protein (which almost every American does), your body naturally stops producing as much energy from foods. Your body doesn't need to, because you have been feeding it pure energy that it has been running off of for so long. Most of our bodies today in American are over energized, and over protein-ed. BOTH of these cause health problems in the long run. Am I saying protein is bad? No way. But humans don't need anywhere near as much as they put into their bodies. Now if you were to stop eating protein, and stop eating super energizing foods... What would happen? You would get super tired (just like the caffeine addiction) for a short period of time, until your body starts getting used to producing energy again. THEN after your body adjusted, you would have more energy than you ever have had in your life! And as you eat small amounts of normal foods, you would be as energized as people who eat LOTS of food! Now this isn't easy to do. AND few will ever do it, but for those that do, hats off to you, because it is so much harder than the average American realizes. We all think we eat healthy... Until we only eat fruits and vegetables, then we realize how unhealthy we were before. No, cereal is not good for you. No organic bread is not good for you. NO! Oils are not good for you (not any oils that you get from pills or cans/processed food at least). No, meat is NOT good for you. And last but not least NO!!! Sugar, corn syrup, and milk is NOT good for you. If you eat anything on this list, chances are that you need to reevaluate how "healthy" you really are. I cannot tell you how many people I know who "claim" to be very healthy eaters, yet eat pop tarts for breakfast, and pizza for lunch. In fact, I have over weight friends who claim to be healthy. What an interesting oxymoron. I have never in my life met a heavy weight raw food nutritionist. In fact, I have never even met a truly healthy eating person who was overweight. You know why? Because everybody who truly eats good, (even the over weight people who START eating good) ALWAYS lose that weight. I used to be 20Lbs over weight, I started eating good, and within 5 days I lost all of that weight. (I actually lost that weight during my fast). THEN I proceeded to eat good after that. And since then the weight has been gone. There is no excuse to eat poorly in a country where we have the opportunity to eat good. Sorry this was so long, I just thought I would share some tips and opinions on eating healthy! If you have any questions or such, just message me or comment! Thanks for reading!

Day 5:

Day 5: Link for the high-res photo: Shot at 2010-10-03 Daily Description: Day 5. I'm alright, going somewhat strong. I am definitely having food withdraws and such, but nothing unexpected. Quick Tip: If you want cooked food REALLY bad and are tempted... Simply eat a very hot pepper. End of story. I ate one, now my temptations of any flavor or food, are completely gone, haha. Although my mouth also burns horribly bad. But it's a sacrifice I am willing to make. ALSO on a note, I had some salsa with Celery as chips (good combo actually) and the salsa said all natural, but apparently it had some sugar (which I found out AFTER I consumed some). BUT, it probably didn't have that much sugar, and I didn't eat much of it. SOO just wanted to note that little incident. I'm trying to avoid ALL processed foods! Anyways, thanks for keeping up!

Day 4

Day 4: Link for the high-res photo: Shot at 2010-10-02 Daily Description: Day 4. New record. So I started doing this thing called "dry skin brushing". In theory it makes the toxins release through the skin faster. AND prevents dry skin. Now personally it seems like my skin is more dry, especially around the lips area. BUT I suppose that is only because the oils of my face were brushed off when I used the brush. It will probably take a few good days of brushing to really get rid of that dry skin I suppose. (I have the opposite of oily skin, my skin naturally never produces enough oils, even when I don't wash my face at all). (PS. Again, I am using no chemicals or anything on my face, which excludes things like Jojoba oil). Anyways, I'm hoping not to rely on stupid stuff like brushing my skin. I am HOPING that just eating good is enough. But we will find out at the end of 30 days I suppose. 4 Days into this, and my skin has only become worse. Who knows what will happen. It's worth the pain to help others see whether this works or not. Please laugh at me, at least we can have fun from this! I want good tasting, and comforting foods SO bad, haha. Oh well, I got a few mangos! Those should hold me off a few... Hours... Thanks for reading!

Day 3:

Day 3: Link for the high-res photo: Shot at 2010-10-01 Daily Description: 3 Days is the longest I have ever gone eating raw foods only. I am confident this will be a new record for myself. Lunch and dinner are the hardest parts of the day. Breakfast is always a breeze, (probably because I do not eat breakfast so I'm not hungry). Probably about 2 months ago I fasted for 5 days. I just drank water and juices that were freshly juiced. Beyond the enemas (horrible)... It wasn't so bad actually. At the end of it I had almost no acne. I guess it really cleaned me out well! I'm hoping fruit after a few weeks will have the same affect, and really cleanse out my system. Although I will admit, I am dying for a few foods I have been tempting myself with. Like burrito's (vegetarian ones from Chipotles), Vegetarian/meatless Lasagna, and various other wonderful tasting yet unhealthy foods! Last night my family took me to the olive garden for my fathers birthday. It was officially the first time I had EVER gone to a restaurant and not ordered anything. Although I did steal two of my fathers peperoncini's on his salad (I'm a sucker for peppers). Anyways, my favorite food is Mexican and Italian, so the fact that I was strong enough to resist was quite heartening to myself. Anyways, on to the point, today my acne looks no better... AGAIN if not worse. BUT, I am assuming that is because I ate pretty bad before I started this 30 day thing, so the effects of that are probably still hitting me. Thanks for reading!

Day 2:

Day 2: Link for the high-res photo: Shot at 2010-9-30 Daily Description: Today is an interesting day. It feels weird not putting anything on my face at all. I almost feel... Dare I say it, naked. Although "raw" might be a better terminology. I hope other people find the will somewhere in them to follow along with me on this difficult journey. Considering I am doing this with no support whatsoever I am SURE somebody else out there may be interested in the healing powers of raw foods (just like I am). We will see I suppose. As you notice, my acne looks no better today than yesterday, if not worse. It will take at least 3 weeks to see a difference. Now I just have to learn to drink a lot of water! Have a nice day everybody!

Day 1:

Day 1: I took the first picture today. Link for the high-res photo: Shot at 2010-09-29 Daily Description: Obviously being the first day and all, this isn’t too difficult. But in time I am sure temptation will start to become difficult to resist. Luckily I am pretty bent on doing this right, so hopefully you guys will get an accurate description on whether this works or not. On a quick note, yesterday I ate breads and grains (because it was my last day of comfort foods). SO, if I continue to have breakouts for the next couple weeks, it will probably be because my body is simply eliminating the foods I have been eating recently. But after 30 days I feel I will see a good difference.

Explanation:

30 Days for Freedom: Explanation, lifestyle: So I guess I should explain myself. I have had moderate - bad acne for the last 4 years. Not a day has gone by where felt the need to just let it happen. Every single day since then has been a fight to find a cure. I have had good days and bad days. But now I am ready to have days that are not controlled by what I look like, I am ready to make sure that every day is an acne free day. SO I am conducting an experiment. I have tried (I assure you) EVERYTHING to stop this acne. And by everything I mean EVERYTHING. Almost everyday for the last 4 years my life has revolved around curing this. Don't get me wrong; I know I shouldn't spend so much time wasting my life trying to find a cure so that others will look at me decently. I am not completely vain. BUT in the line of work I am in, it is extremely important to look as clean and honest as I can. That is hard to accomplish with acne. And although I don't mind it that much, OTHERS do. And they tell me they do, so I know it has to end for the sake of myself and for the sake of others. Diet: Now that I have quickly explained myself… Onto the experiment. For the next 30 days I will do what I have never been able to do, I will be on a completely raw diet. By raw, I mean raw. Nothing cooked. Nothing tampered with. ALL completely natural, organic grown vegetables and fruits. Now I know there are many people interested in trying this, but just do not know how well it will work. WELL, I am here to be the test dummy and make that sacrifice I suppose. And trust me, it is a sacrifice because I LOVE food. Rules: Rule #1: No Pornography/Masturbation. This rule has been made because many blame this “addiction†or fantasy for being the cause of Acne. I felt that because I am doing essentially a “Do-nothing†treatment along with eating raw foods, I should exclude this from my life completely, as so should you if you take part in this experiment. Rule #2: Do nothing. There will be no face washes, special creams, or any acne treatments. I will literally be doing nothing to my face. Rule #3: Many blame the addiction of “popping pimples†to be the cause of acne. So I will avoid this at all cost. Rule #4: No cooked, processed, or animal based foods. Everything must be grown from the ground, and organic. Stay away from all grains… No rice’s or oats. I am doing this completely naturally; I will not use a single thing on my face during this experiment. I will not wash my face, (only rinse it off in the shower when I take showers). Obviously some shampoo or conditioner every once in a while might glide over my face, and of course the chlorine in the water. But lets assume those two issues are not the problem. Now that the nasty part is over, we can move on to the actual experiment. Details: My photos will be taken with no flash at 20mm, and they will be taken around 12pm, all in my bathroom with my side door opened. I give you these details because lighting can play a major role in how you look in a photo. Flash naturally brings out the red in your face; I only want it to look natural, so no flash.
