It's been almost 2 weeks on Spiro. and I am still seeing the spots appear on my face and back. My boyfriend says that I look better already, but I still notice them. I am still wishing for the best.
I think I am going to try to spend some time in the tanning bed because my skin loves the sun and has been clear once while on vacation. I heard that the sun and the water on our skin effects the way our skin behaves. I hope the tanning works because I can't affort to move to an exotic sun location.
Well I have been on Spiro. for almost a week and the giant cysts that appeared on my face are almost gone. I have found a little miracle in a bottle that really speeds the healing time of my breakouts when they get really nasty. I use oregano oil on a band-aide and cover the big ones at night. There is some sort of healing power in the oregano oil. It gets a little warm when I first put it on, but the heat fades as the time passes. For me, it only takes a couple of nights until they are really less noticable, providing i can resist poking at them.
You can pick up oregano oil at your local natural food place. Ask the person working there for a pamphlet on it because I'm sure it has other benefits as well.
I have had acne for as long as I can remember. It seems like forever. I started getting acne really bad when I hit puberty, and I haven't had a clear skin day yet. I was told that I would grow out of it and I am still waiting. I'm now in my 30's and still have monthly breakouts.
When I was young, my face, back and chest exploded with nasty acne. I was so embarrased. I would hide under my hair and clothing that would cover it. My mom took me to a doctor that told her it would get better as soon a my body "adjusted to the change". I showered often and scrubbed my skin until it felt raw. It didn't help. The doctor told me to try benzoyl peroxide, but it didn't help. I was so upset. I couldn't wait till I got older and it would go away.
When I was in my teens, my face would have constant acne breakouts. My mom took me to the doctor and put me on birth control to help with the acne and regulate me. It did regulate me, but the acne never cleared up. It got a little better, but never cleared up. I learned to hide my face under a layer of foundation and that made it way worse when the make-up came off. It was a losing battle.
When I was in my 20's, I thought that it would finally clear up. Nope. I tried many different types on birth control with no luck. I finally stopped the birth control after over 10 years of constant acne. I switched to an IUD for birth control and decided to give my body a break from the hormones. I'm not sure that was a good idea because the constant acne turned into smaller spots constantly and huge breakouts once a month. I lived like that for many years, and I would try everthing I could get my hands on that was over the counter. I have so many acne scars now from the outbursts.
Now I'm in my 30's, and I still haven't cleared up. I heard that the depo-provera drug was the cure for acne. I took it and gained almost 40lbs in three months. I was so devistated about the weight gain that I can't even remember if I had clear skin during that time. There was nothing that I could do but wait till it came out of my system. I haven't been able to lose the weight and my skin is still greasy. I recently had such a severe breakout that the cysts were the size of loonies and swelled up my whole face. The pressure was so bad, and they wouldn't pop like the ones I had before. I had the swelling for 2 days before I went to the doctor and asked for spironolactone. He wanted to try me on another birth control, but I was tired of trying that route. I'm now on a low dose (50mg/day) and am hoping for the best.
I am hoping to be acne free one day. I really hope that this is my answer, and that the side effects are limited. I have so many questions about why my skin hates me so much.
Does anyone else out there have a similar story?
Did anyones acne get better or worse during pregnancy?

I would love to hear your stories. I would love to discuss other body issues that may or may not be connected to the fight to find a cure for acne.
