i am now on 30 mg of accutane daily, my first month I was on 20mg. It seems so low, I just had my doctors appointment for my 3rd month prescription and she bumped me up to 40mg a day, taking 2 20mg a day.
Question: Does it matter when I take the pills? Does it need to be 12hrs apart from eachother or just to be eaten with a meal; in that case I will have it with breakfast and dinner.
Anyways, my face has been really drying out. My forehead is super clear, i have one small cyst on it and one of the side of my forehead, its actually pretty painful. My doctor asked if I wanted a cortisone shot in them, I said no, just b/c the accutane is powerful enough, I dont want too much going on.
Then I have a cyst on my right cheek that is drying up and a few on my chin. I hardly wear makeup since it is the summer, but I am starting an internship next week, so I will mainly start wearing makeup everyday. I hope it doesnt effect my skin.
As for soap, I am using Cerave but I have always loved Burt's Bees tomato soap, wasn't able to find it ! but i did on amazon.com. So i'm thinking of buying it for after i'm done with my accutane.
As for makeup, I'm using covergirl trublend liquid foundation and then some bare minerals powder. I'm really trying to find a healthier makeup for my face. I love liquid foundation. Anyone who has used accutane before???? who also loves liquid makeup???? any advice on what to buy?
damn! i haven't written at all this whole month!!! pretty much my lips got drier, my NOSE got so dry it was all scabby in side and i kept picking at the scabs b/c they feel like the largest, crustiest boogers. GROSS yes..but its the honest truth. i havent had a bloody nose--just a tiny bit of blood from picking at the scabs. I put some neosporin in my nose before bed and a little tiny bit in themorning, so its not bad.
my lips are so dry, i put a ton of aquaphor on it. i also use blistex medicated treatment, but it doesnt last long on my lips.
im going next week to see whats up for my next month. an up in dosage?! idk! im nervous..but excited.
as for skin clarity, a definite improvement....stillg etting some pimples....but you know i've seen a greater skin texture...its getting better. my forehead is allclear..except for like one.
wow, already starting month 2 ..pretty sweet
upped my dosage to 30mg, (orange pills) and will see how this effects me. right now i have two large acne cysts on my right cheek, on pimple on my forehead, and a few small cysts bunched up on my left cheek. i never usually get anything on my chin and im getting some bumps.
we'll see ..
sooo I had my first doctors visit after my month of Accutane. The doctor asked me how I was doing on it, any diahrea, depression, thoughts of suicide, etc. and I kinda laughed and said nothing like that, nothing like that at all. I was expecting a lot worse. She said they do say the worst of the expectations, that you either do really well on it or you do really bad on it.
I hope I continue to do well. Everything came back from my blood results perfectly normal, so she wrote out a prescription for me for this month, I WENT UP to 30mg. I was on 20mg. She said we will slowly go up as long as I am feeling good.
So I am going to fill out my IPLEDGE questions in the morning and pick up my prescription tomorrow. I'm excited but a bit nervous for symptoms.
How else is everyone doing with their symptoms and stuff?
skins clearin up but not fast enough
i mean i'm only on day 28, so understandable. i never had a bad IB so i'm a bit nervous for that to come out. i have an interview friday, so i want my face to be nice...i will use revlon cover up but still, the zits pop out on my face so you can still see them.
i am going to the derm in about an hour for my 2nd month prescription. i am currently on 20mg. lets see if i get a higer dosage, i kinda hope so , b/c i dont wanna be on this stuff for a year.
ill let you know what she says and i am going to tell her that i did have some symptoms with the pill: in the beginnning, a few sore muscles and aches in joint areas, massive headaces ( only a few) and some stomachaches, but that could have just been normal. not too sure.
so I'm on day 23 of clavaris (accutane) and i'm doing good. i am kinda nervous to see if I am doubled in my dosage. i'm going for my bloodwork monday and the doc appointment is wednesday. i just also scheduled an interview friday, SO i hope i'm not super dry if I am doubled in my dosage. that would suck.
as for my acne, its been simmering down, and flattening out (for now).
Has anyone else been on accutane, and it appeared to be clearing up in the first two weeks and then around the 16/17th day it starts getting worse??
I have about 5 or 6 deep cysts on my left cheek that HURT so bad! and then two on my right cheek. I didn't have them 2 days ago.
Is this normal??
I can't believe I'm on day 16 already!
My skin definitely is better than before and I know I am more confident and feel more pretty. I actually wore makeup yesterday!
anyways, about the makeup, has anyone used cliniques foundation?? which one would you suggest for preventing clogged pores/pimples?
So nothing has reallly changed for me this past week of using Accutane. The first few days of taking the pill, I felt like it was going to be a long process to take the month-worth BUT today was day 10 already and I'm 1/3 done with my first prescription. I will get my bloodwork in 3 weeks and then will have my appointment two days after.
I'm kind of watching what I eat, making sure nothing is too fatty and watching Total Fat % on the nutrition labels. I was told that my cholesterol was slightly a bit higher than normal, and to pretty much not have fast food, which SUCKS> b/c I love Big Macs, and Whoppers, Wendys spicy chicken sandwich lol! But I do have to admit, I was eating that quite a bit more on purpose before my blood work and appointment to get a prescription.
The first few days of Accutane, I would say my only symptoms were headaches and muscle/joint soreness, which I was told would be normal. Oh and my lips are becoming dry, but we all know that is going to come with it.
Other than that, my acne has seemingly gotten better, not many pimples actually surfacing on my skin, and the redness is going down a bit.
How is everyone else doing on it?
Today is the end of my 4th day on Accutane.
I haven't had too bad of any effects, except yesterday I had a bad headache leaving work that lasted pretty much all night until I went to bed. I woke up in the morning with no headache, so that was good but its now 10:30 pm and I again have a headache. I feel like its because I'm not drinking much water; one of those types of dehydrated headaches. Who knows.
Also, I am feeling a bit achy in my back but again, I'm not sure if it is from the Accutane pills or just from my daily activities. Today, I decided to go on a cleaning binge in my room and took out ALL of my clothes in my closet and drawers and rearrange and organize them. I HAVE a TON of clothes, it took me from 10 am until 4:30, lets just put it that way.
Anyways, that has been my only real symptoms. Headaches, a bit of achiness, and dry lips, but no big deal. Last night, I was watching youtube videos of accutane users, and of course, came across these horrible horrible videos. One kid has permanent hair loss and has to get a lame hair cut to cover it up and he claims he always has dry eyes, that the meds dryed up his eyes during the treatment and never got back to normal. Then another kid had a really bad allergic reaction and his face looked horrible, so bad.
I just truly hope nothing bad happens to anyone who is taking this. I wish all the bad things that are being claimed are just people who have something against the pill and are making it up, I dont want those things to be true.
I spoke to a few people I personally know, two good friends, an acquaintance from HS and my cousin, all who have taken Accutane, and they all said their worst symptom was dryness. One girl said she got really down on it, but other than that it was ok. I really cant imagine anything worse, I hope not.
I'm a worry wart if you haven't noticed, which is half the reason I have acne, I stress about anything and everything.
Anyways, I'll keep updating and any Accutane users out there reading, please keep me updated with whats going on with you and your syptoms and results : )
So, today is day two. Not like this stuff has even started on me, but I think mentally, I'm imagining that my lips are getting dryer, just because I'm expected it. Don't think its actually happened just yet, but mentally I think it is so I'm applying chapstick every so often.
I woke up this morning with a super itchy ear; I wasn't sure if it was a bug bite or my skin is starting to get dry? I put some benadryl on it , because I think it is just a bug bite, but who knows.
We'll see how day 2 goes!
feel good and confident for this drug to work its wonders.
So yesterday I was supposed to start my Accutane, but my pharmacy had to order it so I picked it up last night and waited to have it with breakfast. I was soo nervous to put that pill and swallow it, just because its the start of something that is going to be changing my body and skin so much!
I know it is going to get worse before better, which kind of sucks but I'll keep posting to keep track of my body and how this pill is going to effect me.
I have to head to a 9 hour work day soon, sooo I hope I don't get sore or too bad of dry eyes or whatever.
