I'm getting small balck beads around my chin, and small white zits on my face. I don't know if it's beacuse of the make up powder from Mineral Hygienic or it's because of the weather... it's been around 90-93 degrees ever day for the past 3-4 days. I work in the restaurant, so I sweat a lot druing the day. The day after tomorrow is my 1 month Derm. followup, I don't know what the Dr. will say to me, I want to do some microdermabrasion to help speed up the fading of those RED marks on my face...
I am getting clear day by day, but very slowly... every night when i wash my face in the shower with SA cleanser, i can feel the smoothness of my face, finally. But, those stupid RED scars are still there, they will be there for a long time, I know. I can cover up the scars with makeup during the day, but they are still there when all the makeup are gone. I started using Mineral Hygienic make up today, it's not bad, good coverage and has only 4 ingredients. I hope I will be 100% clear by the end of this year!
May 6, 2010, I went to see my derm, and when he saw me, he said I should get the corticosteroid injection to bring down the inflammation. I had NEVER ever had those injections before, because I had never had cystic acne this bad. So he gave me 4-5 shot on my big group of acne , and told me that they will go down by tommorrow. Then he also gave me a SA 20% peel, put me on Minocyclin 100 mg once a day and a tretinoin 0.01% gel. I really didn't want to take any more pills, I think they are maybe bad for the liver, but I really needed to bring down this inflammtion fast! The derm also said that to start tretinoin every other night to avoid the IB. So, I've started to take the Minocyclin on May 6, and the gel on May 7... hoping tp get clear soon.
April 15th, 2010, I've decided to switch to PTR product with sulfur. I've done some research on the internet and sulfur seemed to be a better choice for people who are not doing good with BP. I went to Sephora, and the sales guy was pretty nice and gave me some advice said that sulfur will help to bring down the inflammation inside the pimple and make it flat. I was happy to hear that because at that time, I had about 3 small pimple on the left side of my face, the right side ( the always broke-out-more side was clear ), so I really hoped that the PTR acne spot and area treatment will help the pimple flat, and I can cover with makeup. Along with the spot treatment, I also brought the PTR oil-free cleanser with 2% SA.
During the first week of using the product, my 3 small pimples went down like the sales guy said. The sulfur smelled bad, but I thought that I can take anything if it clears up my skin. In the mean time, I increased my water intake, and just jope to be clear day by day with this new regimen. Then in the next 2 weeks, it was hell for me, I had cystic acne appearing in a group of 6 on the right side of my face!!!! I couldn't believe what I was seeing, BIG cysts that cannot come to head. At that time, I thought maybe it was suppose to be an initial breakout from the new product- sulfur. But no matter how much makeup i use ( I usually don't wear much makeup, so when I do, it's weired ) trying to cover up the cysts, they look reddish pupple to me, and from far away, I looked like someone hit the right side of my face and gave me buises. I can't even look in the mirror, I am really depressed.
I can't believe I still get acne at 28, I have a husband, and 2 children. I don't even want my children to see me like this, without makeup, I just look like a mess. Sometimes, I really fear for my children, will they have bad skin like me in their teens? 20s? 30s? I have beautiful kids, and they have beautiful smooth baby skin, I really pray for them that their skin will stay the way it is right now!
I had acne in my teens, and during my pregnancy with my 2nd baby, after gaving birth, I had always been on BCP. Never ever had cystic acne appearing in groups, and all at once. So I gave up the OTC med, and called my Derm, whom I haven't seen since 2006. That's how long my skin had been clear, I really can't remember how bad my skin was, but certainly not as bad as of right now.
It all started in Feb this year, when I went to the mall, passing by the Clinique counter and saw the new product Even Better Clinical spot treatment. At that time, I had only one small zit on the top of my eyebrowse, and some past acne marks, my face was not spotless, but I didn't have any major breakout either. I had stop taking Yaz back in Sept , 2009 becuase I was on the pill for 8 years. I think the pill really helps my face stay clear every month, but Ive heard that being on the pill for too long is not good for the body. So I decided to buy the even better thinking maybe it will help with my old scars. I was also running out of toner, so the lady suggested me to buy the Salicylic toner 2%, saying that will prevent any pimples. I thought maybe that was what I needed to be clear once and for all, so I brought the SA toner, not knowing that it contains alcohol. What a big mistake I made, after using the toner for a week, my skin started to break out, BIG TIME, I had 2 cyst on the right side of my face ( my right side ) of face had always broke out more than the other side. So at that time, I thought maybe this is due to my hormones around my period time, but I had not broke out in cyst before. I went to Clinique to ask questions, the sales
lady recommended me to buy the acne solution, since I had already brought the toner. So that was when it all started my acne nightmare... I kept breaking out more and more everyday, I've called the Clinique direct and ask them why was this happening, they told me that it's normal for me to break out because the SA is bring out all the acne under the skin. They sounded reasonable, so I continued...
The BP in the step 3 really was makin me itching all around my face, to the point that I even wake up middle of the night of itching, so 2 weeks into the new regimen, I stopped using BP and just continued with the step 1 and 2, and their acne mask every 2 days. My break outs increased, even in places I had never break out before, like my neck, my forehead and the most weird place was the space under my nose and above my upper lip. I had a big zit and I couldn't resist to pop and ended up like a female Hitler from hell! I was hopeless, I had used Clinique for 5 weeks and no improvement.
