So I have been using Neutrogena which is actually just a two step process of facial cleanser and acne lotion. It is working pretty well and I have almost no acne right now. I don't know if this is working so well due to using Proactive first, but I am going to recommend this product.
I continued using the three step process and the facial mask. My skin is almost 100% clear now and has been so for a total of about a week since I started using Proactive. I owe my clearing up partially to my discontinued use of cheese. My Proactive kit is running fairly low, even though the bottles are on completely different levels. The Revitalizing Toner has about 1/6th or 1/7th left in the bottle while the other two still have about 1/4th left. I don't know why this is for I go fairly easy on the liquid, but I don't really mind that much. So far it looks like the 60 day package that I picked up for $50 U.S. is going to last around 60 days; so I don't think I can really complain.
While at the store today, I picked up a Neutrogena complete acne therapy system for $20 U.S. This little pack is approximately a 60 day supply which is a great deal considering the Proactive 60 day supply is more than twice that. On The box it even has a blue circle that says "works FASTER than Proactiv on pimples." This package says that it starts clearing breakouts in just 2 days. It comes with the facial wash ( skin polishing), acne fighting cream (2.5% benzoyl peroxide acne control lotion), oil-free SPF 15 facial lotion, and the bonus pack of Acne Eliminating Spot Gel (contains 2% salicylic acid and claims to visibly reduce breakout in 8 hours.) I will post when I start using this new system. Because it is new, I am expecting my face to break out after switching treatments, but I will stay strong and use it for a minimum of 18 days.
So my face is now pretty much completely clear. I still use Proactive regularly and have been experimenting with the foods I eat to see if that has an effect. I was told that DAIRY products increase your chances of a breakout. I decided to test this out for me and I found the 3 strongest dairy products that are the worst for most peoples skin and I cut them out of my diet.
After 2 weeks, my face had completely cleared up. The foods I had cut out were cheese, butter, and eggs (I know it's not dairy.) I kept my face clear for a little while until I decided to see what would happen if I started eating cheese again. I ate cheese like I normally would by basically putting cheese on everything. About 2 days later I had large cystic pimples forming on my face again for the first time in weeks. I had at least 3, and these were clearly the size of my cysts from before I started Proactive. Then I let my face clear up again by not eating cheese. Once my face was clear again, I decided to see what would happen if I only ate a little bit of cheese. What do you know, the pimples came back after about 2 or 3 days. These pimples were pretty small which would make sense.
So if you really can do what I have done and cut out those 3 things, then you could see an improvement in your skin. LOTS OF CHEESE= BIG PIMPLES. LITTLE BIT OF CHEESE= SMALL PIMPLES.
Even though my face is clear, there is still hard stuff under the skin where my larger pimples once were. Does anyone know about that?
Thanks for reading
So this is day 21 of proactive and I can honestly say that it is helping. I am still getting one to two cystic pimples on my face at once, but they are puny in comparison. These cystic pimples are about as big around as an eraser, and they hurt, but they are significantly smaller than my other pimples. I have continued using the three step process and my face is so much clearer! My facial acne scarring is going away and I am pumped.
Nobody checked out that picture of my pimple, or at least commented on it, so if you are reading this please check out the picture in my album. If you can not get to the picture please tell me, cuz I really would like to know others opinions on my once huge pimple.
So today is the fourth day of having a large pimple. It was significantly smaller when I woke up this morning, I would even say almost completely healed. I followed the three step process for proactive and used the refining mask overnight. My pimple between my eyes is a little bigger, but I am not gonna mess with it. Also the one near my nose is already smaller. I have now stepped up to two applications of the three step process of proactive per day. My forehead pimple was barely swollen at all, until my second class of the day. Some stupid guy who always has to touch other guys constantly in a joking manner hit it. He gave me a noogy and hit it in the process. This caused my pimple to get SWOLLEN. It became the same size if not bigger than it was on Monday. I was furious and would have fought him over it if not for the no fighting tolerance in my school. Get into one fight and you get expelled. Now AFTER school it is not very swollen, but why does he have to touch people?! I just hope that my acne will look better after applying the three step proactive stuff and leaving the refining mask on overnight on my pimples. This is Proactive Day 6.
So this is now Wednesday and the 3rd day I have gone to school with people making comments of shock at my pimple. I took some pictures of it so you can see what it is. I now have another pimple in between my eyes that is about 1 centimeter in size and another similar next to my nose on the right side of my face. I am surprised that I am breaking out again since the huge pimple is still there. I have been breaking out constantly for about 1 month now. I just took eggs, cheese, and butter out of my diet to help the breakouts and I exercise regularly and clean thoroughly. After the picture is approved I would like to see opinions on it. Be honest but not cruel for I have been hearing it every day at school about my acne. I am beginning to think of myself as a monster with this SHTUFF on my god forsaken face.
I even have mild to moderate back acne scarring. I am getting so fed up with this acne that I don't know what to do. I refuse to show most girls my face in fear of an obvious response. The proactive is honestly helping my skin as the pimples are significantly smaller than before. Maybe when I move up to 2 uses per day I will see better results. Sorry for the long post but this is Proactive Day 5.
So today my pimple was still pretty good in size. I put ice on it which brought down the swelling by about 1/3. I was not able to try out the hydrocortizone cream due to the proactive. I used the 3 step facial cleansing routine and put the refining mask on my pimple and went to bed. When I woke up it was less red and less swollen. The only problem is that the pimple swells throughout the day even when I don't touch it. I was told that this could be from the humidity or that my facial expressions irritate it. This is Proactive Day 4.
I currently have a huge pimple that is about the size of a quarter and it is embarrassing. During my second class of the day, someone walks in and yells OH MY GOD THAT THING IS HUGE! I started looking around and asked what is? He said, the mountain on your face. I didn't let a single girl see my face for most of the day from that point on. This pimple is massive, and I don't know how they get that bad. I think I am gonna hate the next week or two of school because this thing is massive. Please leave comments because I would really like to know how to deal with massive pimples while having to go to school. I will write a story every day until it is gone so you will know exactly how long it will have taken on the proactive routine. Currently on Proactive Day 3.
My pimple that I had before was a pretty good size, but it was not red. It is now a significantly less swollen but is honestly about an inch long, a quarter inch wide, and red. It looks like a giant pocket has formed on my forehead. I used my proactive and put the refining mask on. Hopefully it will have gone down enough to where I won't care about the pimple and just be happy it's smaller, otherwise I am gonna want to die. This will the the 4th week straight I have gone to school with my large cystic pimple and this is the biggest one so far. I hate my skin.
I just purchased proactive yesterday on May 15th. I have followed the instructions to the letter so far. I have another large pimple on my forehead and and I used the refining mask on it over night. I woke up and the pimple was about half the size it was yesterday. I am really hopeful that proactive will work for me. In about 2 weeks I will know if this will clear my acne or not.
I went to school on Friday despite the swollen mass on my forehead. Now on Saturday you can't even barely tell I ever had a pimple except for a very small red spot. I am happy that it is pretty much gone now, but how much longer do I have to deal with problems like this?
Yesterday I had a huge red pimple. It was horribly painful. I am a 17 year old guy who has been training in martial arts for 5 years. I am serious when I say this pimple hurt. It was about the size of a nickle. Not normally a big deal to me. I have a regime where I stab it with a needle, release the acne, then apply ice and toothpaste. This has had amazing results for me in the past with nickle sized pimples. Even causing them to be completely gone the next day. Well I did this and the pimple popped like any other. But after I put the ice on it I came back 20 minutes later to put toothpaste on. I looked in the mirror and it was at least an inch and a half in diameter! I freaked out. I put the toothpaste on and went to bed. This morning I woke up and it is about an inch in diameter but the swelling blends in a little with my forehead, it is gradual. I freaked out again and I asked my stepdad if he saw it and he thought I was joking because he said he can't see anything. My stepsister said the same thing, but I can see it so easily in the mirror. When I frown, one side is 4 times bigger than the other. So I don't know if I should believe them or not, but I have to make a decision between going to school or skipping. I think I am going to go to school with every distraction available to the eye. BTW just so you guys know, I honestly am not one of those kids who freak out over a little pimple, I freak out over pimples that look like they wanna kill somebody.
