Kids say the darndest things...

So, this is my first blog and I decided that I want to write about something that happened today. You know how kids just say whatever they want and don't realize that what they say can be hurtful? Well, I had a little encounter today. My nephew and I were comparing our skin to see who was darker. He was looking at our arms and decided that his were darker. He looked at our hands and again declared that his were darker. Finally, he got to the face. He looked at mine and said, "Mine is definitely whiter since yours has a bunch of red dots on it! It looks like you have chickenpox!!" He then sang "Chickennn poxxx, you have chicken poxxxx" for about 2 minutes before I had to leave. Obviously, I don't have chicken pox. I have acne (*Gasp*). I understand that he's only 5 and doesn't realize what it is, but that doesn't make it any less embarassing you know? I seriously wanted to crawl into a hole and die...or at least just wear a paper bag on my head. Another time a kid called me out on my acne was a few years ago. My little cousin, who we'll call Kate, was talking to my cousin that's a year older than me...who we'll call Lisa. Kate was calling Lisa and kept chasing her around. After awhile, Lisa said, "No, I'm not Lisa! I'm [my name]." My little cousin looked at her and said, "No you're not! [my name] has the bumpy skin!" -__- Acne sucks. Big shock there, right? I hate it so much!!!!! I've been dealing with it for 10 YEARS now. Ughh. I have used so many products and even had a dermatologist for a few years. Why does acne have to be so hard to get rid of? I just wish I would grow out of it already! I try to ignore the comments, and I try to ignore the acne, but sometimes it bothers me so much. I'm so glad I have this site where I can talk to other people that share my problem. Thanks for letting me rant. -S.
