My Life on Accutane

4 weeks on Accutane

Tomorrow marks my 4th week on Accutane. I had a blood test taken and a prego test yesterday and have an appointment with the Derm tomorrow. Since the 2nd week of Tane I haven't had any other side effects except dry skin and lips. I have been using 3-4 different chap-sticks and have found that the Aquaphor seems to work best and lasts the longest. My face still has pimples but the blackheads on my chin and nose seem to have vanished. I also recommend NO PICKING! Every time i pop or pick anything on my face it seems to last soo much longer and has a harder time healing, not like my skin used to. I also have some red marks of my face from previous pimples but i am sure over time those will also fade. Claravis 40mg 1x a day.

Day 8 of Accutane and Tired!

Since the 2nd day of taking Accutane I have been miserably exhausted! It starts a couple of hours after I take my dose and lasts for about 4 hours. I have not found this to be a side affect of the medication as far as the pamphlet goes, and my doctor. Has anyone else found that TANE makes you TIRED!? Also, I have lost my appetite or start to feel sick after eating a few bites of food. T The results so far have been good. I have had only 4 new pimples since I have started and i have noticed my clogged pores have started to clear as well as my blackheads!! Not too shabby I must say? I just hope the drowsiness goes away! I have also noticed some slight headaches too and I did have some minor back ache at day 4 and 5 but it has since gone away.

Finally get to start Accutane

A little about my ACNE background... I started to get acne when I was about 13-14 years old. I am 26 years old now so I have be dealing with it for 10+ years and I AM SO OVER IT! I'm over waking up in the morning to a new mountain on my face or my skin peeling from a healing pimple. Acne has affected my everyday life in every possible way... I can't leave the house with out make-up on because not only do I have to cover the existing pimple but also the scars that they have left behind. I've become more self-conscious because I am no longer a teenager and still dealing with this. Things I have tried: Retin-A Proactive Various other 3 step acne medications (cleaner, toner & spot treatment) Oral Antibiotics Microderm (10 or so) Chemical Peels (10 or so) Birth-Control My Goal: To become free of Acne.. to be able to go swimming and not be self-conscious about my make-up washing off in the water, I want to be able to wake up and be free from being afraid to look in the mirror, to be able to leave the house without make-up!!! My Acne Description: I currently have at any given time 5-6 large red pimples, but my main issue now is the amount of blackheads and under the skin pimples that I have which have yet to come to the surface. They are not red, but i can feel them if I run my finger down my cheek and you can see the uneven skin texture. I started Accutane 2 days ago and I am so excited to see what the next few months have in store... I am even excited for the IB so I know it's working lol. After my cycle of Accutane is over I have to wait 6-12 months before I can invest in some laser resurfacing procedure so I can have the smooth, clear, EVEN skin I have always wanted! Wish me luck and i will do my best to keep this as up to date as possible. It was because of this website and all the amazing before and after pictures that you all posted that gave me the guts to start Accutane, So a BIG thank you to all the brave people who put their faces out there! You all look amazing smile.gif ------------ "I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass." -Maya Angelou
