I went to an outdoor party this weekend and got eaten alive by mosquitos. I noticed some of the pumps were more red and some of them had a clear-yellow blister in the middle. I heard it is generally best not to pop your skin as this prevents bacteria from gaining access to open areas of your skin and causing an infection. It's best to allow nature to take its course and let your skin heal naturally. I couldn't resists popping just one but now it itches like crazy. Why did my skin make the yellow puss/blister on the mosquito bite?
Finally in the home stretch... Tired all the time. Dry eyes. Itchy skin. Still not as bad as others have said. My blood tests have all been ok since month 2. I had one nose bleed. I notice my nails are very fragile and tear, cuts and scrapes take a long time to heal, and sometimes when I go number two it really hurts (TMI I'm sure but people like to know what to expect). Not a single cyst since month 1!!!! My skin looks great. Flawless almost. I'm a little pink but whatever, I'll take it! I can get away with washing my hair only every couple of days which is nice. I cannot wait to be off of this stuff! 29 more days to go!
Cetaphil face wash
Cetaphil face lotion
Dry Remedy by Aveda Shampoo and conditioner
Eucerin Intensive Repair Lotion
Natural Tears eye drops
Never realized how many products I had to use on this stuff!!!
All of a sudden I have the chapped lips everyone is talking about. I'm thankful it didn't start until now but it sucks. No matter how much water I drink and how often I reapply Aquaphor they are still chapped. I'm literally applying Aquaphor every 5 minutes.
My triglycerides are back to normal which is good and they finally found a nurse who can get a good blood draw. They sent me to another lab twice because they couldn't find a good vien and now I'm being charged crazy amounts of money and there is nothing I can do about it. The blood draws are only covered if they are in office. It doesn't matter that the hospital's lab is in the same building.
This month, next month then I'm done!!! I haven't had a breakout since the first month. Everything is dry and itchy... Very itchy. Especially my forehead. My eyes, lips, scalp, arms... I have "more" energy compared to last month which is odd. All I wante dto do last month was sleep. I still feel like 8 hours of sleep isn't enough though. I feel like spf30 is plently. I'm such a sun bum it's hard not baking in the sun. I'm scared to try an spf lower than 30.
I can't find an article that really states what Accutane is doing inside your body to "cure" acne" What does vitamin A do? I heard this used to be used like chemo in cancer patients???
I still drink a couple times a week in moderation and the doc says it fine... I hope so.
I forgot to mention that my upper arms are always red and warm to the touch and my nails are brittle. They almost peel off... Also I have the attention span of a five year old and it seems I can't remember anything!!! Hope it's worth all the hassle.
I am almost done with month 3! My doctor upped my dosage from 40mg once a day to a total of 80mg. My skin is a little more dry but nothing too significant. My pores still are pushing out "debris". So tempted to use a pore strip but I read that is a bad idea. I actually seem to have a little more energy. I don't know why. My tryglyceride counts were a little high last month but she said nothing to worry about.
The doctor asked me to use natural tears, a non scented lotion and body soap, and to stop wearing my contacts. I did all of the above but am still wearing my contacts. I can get away without washing my hair for about 4 days. It's awesome. I still don't have really chapped lips like everyone else reports. I never let Aquaphor leave my side though.
I noticed my skin cuts easily. Like a tiny papercut is now like a cut from a knife. I guess it's due to the skin being so fragile. I can't wait to be done with all of this.
It costs me about $55 a month for doctors visits and the medication. Thank God there is a generic of it. Sick of blood tests, pregnancy tests, and most of all I pledge.
So far so good. I guess I have been lucky. My tryglyceride count was slightly high. 150 or 190 I can't remember. The doctor said they don't worry until level 400. That scares me. Skin is a little itchy. My dosage got bumped from 40mg to 80mg as of yesterday so I'm very nervous my side effects are going to double too. I have a headache today like I did when I first started the treatment. It looks like my skin pores are pushing everything out and they are getting much smaller. Quite interesting.
I am 28 years old and have had acne since I was 13. Sounds like an intro to AA. I used to break out all over. All kinds of pimples. Now that I am older I only get acne on my chin. The cystic type. The kind that makes you want to crawl in a hole with a bag over your head. The painful, if I bend over my face throbs type. I've tried antibiotics, topicals, expensive face creams, you name it... My doctor and I decided that I should try Accutane. I kind of obsessed over researching it. I'm still not clear of the affects of alcohol while taking the drug. My doctor says its ok and there’s nothing in the drug pamphlet saying not to.
I started the drug last week Tuesday. The first couple days were a breeze. I was terrified to take the drug but I feel a little better now... My chin is usually the only thing to break out and I recently got two cysts. I'm not sure if it is from the meds or not. My skin is dry and flaky- mostly around my nose and on my forehead. Cetaphil seems to do the trick. I haven't gotten chapped lips yet but I don't let my Aquaphor leave my side. I am using Eucerin intense healing lotion on my body and that seems to work. My head itches like crazy. No flaking or anything there- yet... No nose bleeds. My dosage gets upped next month so I'm a little worried. I have to keep reminding myself that I will thank myself for this later. I'm going to Mexico in August so I hope I don't burn too badly.
Any tips for shampoo to make this itching go away? People probably think I have lice or something! Blah...
My chin broke out pretty bad. Several cysts. I contracted a staph infection, unrelated, and had to start on heavy duty antibiotics. On the plus side, my face is starting to settle down. I turn red easily. My skin peels a little but not too bad. Dry eyes for sure. I can tell my nose is dry but no nose bleeds. I'm scared to up the dosage in a few weeks but what can I do? I'm ready to be done with acne. No sadness at all. It's amazing how something can affect so many people differently. I was hoping for some feedback but I don't think anyone has read anything...
