My last month!

Haven't been logging regularly, but it's more of a brief of my treatment. I have started my 5th and last month two days ago. I am so happy that I am almost there. My main problem was a chronic case of moderate severe acne since I can remember, maybe 13 and now I am 24. Over the last couple of years I have developed mild face acne, presumably from all the long term antibiotics that I have tried for my back (alas that didn't work) and I guess that has strengthened the bacteria and it became stronger and expandable. Of course that is my personal theory. So, back to isosupra. I am on 32gm a day. I have messed up somehow on my prescription doses in the past month, taking one 16 gm pill a day and three the next, taking one pill for 5 days then back to 2, but anyway. I am finishing my 10 packs of 30 pills, meaning 300x16 gm of isosupra= 4800gm very soon. Only a week or so ago, I have started noticing that my back is clearing big time. It's clear for the first time in my adult life. The scars are fading too! I love it. My face is so clear, quite dry in the morning especially around eye area, but all I have to do is wash my face, put my clinique eye cream and my nivea face moisturizing sun block and I am back to normal again for the rest of the day. That is it. I don't use anything else for my face. I use lotion for my arms and hands. But if I don't I can get away with it. Chapped lips, I tried everything cheap and expensive but carmex is the best thing so far. Can't live with it. I like how my hair doesn't get greasy at all. I would really hate to go back to greasy hair after I stop. Otherwise, the only down thing, is that my achilles tendon still hurts me especially after sleeping when I walk at first then it's ok. I've had this muscle pain for 3 months now, very mild but there. I still have low energy level. Better than first month but I am certainly not active and up to things. I'd rather lay down and stay in bed whenever I can. I hope this will go away when I stop. I've noticed that my nail are brittle and almost becoming flat. I don't know if it has to do with accutane or what but I hope things get better soon. Other than that, I am very happy with the results! I love it!!!!! I hope i'm permanently clear without any permanent side effects.

And the third month...

Today i finish my 2nd month on isosupra (isotrentinoin) 32 gm a day. Just got back from my dermatologist appointment and he prescribed me the third month supply. Three months to finish my 5 month course. My face is so much better, I can say it's clear and my doctor is impressed. My back (the main problem) is improving more slowly but improving nonetheless, but it's somewhat scarred and I should start dealing with that. It's weird because I'm less dry than a month ago, I just moisturize my face in the morning and thats it. I'm getting dry around the mouth, around the eyes, lips are dry but not chapping like a month ago, and hair is not dry... However since the med is working, and my skin is getting better and there are no break outs I guess it's working. My doctor says I'm lucky that I am not experiencing extreme dryness and that I shouldn't worry about it. I remember the first month I started taking isosupra, everything in my body felt funny. I was tired and out of it. I was breaking out, and it felt bad. Dryness was a new thing to deal with. Now I can say my body adjusting and returning to normal, almost same energy levels, not much dryness.. other than the chapped lips I guess I don't remember I'm on the meds for the rest of the day. I do my lipid profile and other tests monthly. This time, my HDL (good cholesterol) was borderline low. So i'll start taking my fish oil tablets again and I think I should go back to exercise. One more note... when it comes to waxing, the face is a NO-NO, but the rest of the body from my experience and other girl's experience from while they are on accutane, it's totally fine. I have not stopped and the only different I found is that my skin gets more red than usual after but then it is fine. One more thing I noticed (or maybe it's a coincidence) is that body hair growth is somewhat inhibited. I have a problem with excessive body hair in some part and I can say that it has improved by almost 40-50% in two months!! Woohoo..

Coming close to two months on Isosupra

I'm well into my second month on Isosupra, an isotrentinoin but with lower dosage. I'm taking 32 gm (16x2). Now i'm more used to the dryness. No more fatigue or mybe I also got used to that. It becomes a life style. All the moisturizing and chap stick. I carry around my carmex lip balm religiously, I wouldn't move around without it. I use face cream once a day. Sometimes I use eye drops. My body is not too dry, I mean it's dry and I sometimes get rashes and red spots but it's fine. My hair is fine and not getting too oily like before and that i LIKE. No progress since end of first month however. A couple of new small pimples on my face. The three I got from before I started (which has gotten bigger) are still there. But generally no black or white heads face is clear since last month. My main problem which is my back acne has not improved at all. Some new. Some inflamed. Still looks bad.. But I guess I have to wait till the end of the course. I'm taking it for five months. The only problem I've been having for three weeks now is pain in my heels.. I got it from a bad shoes with no ankle support, but it won't go away..... hurts when I walk.. I'll tell my doctor when I see him in a week.

11th day on isotrentinoin 32 gm

So today is the 11th day.. I have been very sick... the past 10 days !! I only started getting better 2 days ago when doctor put me on antibiotics, anti histamine, ventoline.. seems i had brochospasm, acute bronchitis and this caused my dormant asthma to flare up, also susceptible seasonal allergy... This may have been totally unrelated to accutane though.. I still have a cough but i'm much better.. I have occasional mild headaches, my knee hurts abit when driving, and i'm lethargic,, always tired... On my 11th day, some old pimples are still there, but my face is generally clearer and almost no new zits.. back is much clearer, no new pimples... Does that mean I don't get the initial break out, oh how i wish.. let's see.. I'm dry.. my lips are drying up fast i have to use chapstick every half an hour, i am using carmex.. face is starting to become dry but not too dry, i am using dior tented moisturizer, and olay dry skin face moisturizer ... I still use my clinique 3 step system ... soap, lotion and dramatically different gel.. It's not too bad.. life on accutane.. but my energy is half of what it used to be..

The first four days: I didn't know what to expect, now I know

OK so the first four days on Isosupra Lidose ... were NOT easy... 32gm/day I felt tired, drowsy, sleepy and I could hardly concentrate at work ... energy levels down to minimum... I felt a bit down and out of it. I took it with lunch around 2-3pm .. I developed this cough and soar throat since day one, that feels like the start of a cold, except that it's not... It's new to me, so most probably it's a side effect. I hope it goes away soon I don't want to have it for the next 5 months. That's the worst thing so far.. Today the fourth day, I think my body is starting to get used to the meds, so I feel although still a bit tired I am not as sleepy and drowsy energy levels are up again and it felt like a normal day... Laughing helps a lot I've been drinking water like crazy, I am thirsty all the time! Just today I felt I'm starting to get less oily than usual, and my hair is less greasy, but i'm no where near the dryness I am expecting. But just today some parts of my body are getting somewhat itchy like my hands and legs and a bit down there :S... I'm using carmex on my lips althouhg they are not that dry.. that's about it.. Today I went out and bought Hydraction from Dior it's an ultra hydrant with sun protection spf 20 and a tint. I'm thinking it would double for a cover and a moisturizer.. It felt so nice when I tested it at the shop although a bit pricey. I have mild acne on my face, some times moderate, but my main problem is back acne .. it's bad.. it has been there for at least 11 years and nothing works on it...I am just tired of it and want it gone... I can't speak of progress.. my skin might be 10% better now.. but maybe that's just my optimism... Oh and today I bought wild salmon fish oil supplement (jamieson) and i intend to take it with the isosupra lidose..

FIRST DAY... so many dreams

Hello. You can call me Amy. I'm too embarrassed to share my real name, and no one from my personal life knows I am here. I am 24. I have * moderate * persistent acne that is all over my face and back and butt. It won't go away with antibiotics. I do have an urge to pick it and squeeze the shit out of it which I can't control (makes me feel better but leaves scars, I know). Having bad and sick looking skin causes me lots of emotional pain and some times physical pain too. I have been a victim of acne since I was 13. Up until 18 I went to the family doctor who always said that it was normal. He said I was a teenager and acne will go away on its own. He was strictly against any type of medication for it. He said antibiotics don't work and then he would talk about kidney failure and knee problems and scary things that happen to people who take acne medication so my parents decided to listen to him. At least he was right about the antibiotics. When I was free to see a dermatologist on my own insurance, they would say I am lucky I don't have it on my face and only on my back. They would give me ointments and creams, but putting them on my back every morning and every night was NOT practical. The past couple of years, I have been reading about accutane, and I was completely and utterly terrified by what I have found on the internet. Now, I am fed up. Today is the day I started taking Isosupra (same as accutane, 32 gm instead of a 40 gm on accutane) The last couple of years up until today I have been trying and trying: First acne treatment (22 years) Back then, my acne was just on my back and shoulders and was moderate to severe. I took an antibiotic tetracycline (4 month). Result= New mild acne on face, and the acne is less severe but more in number. It still looked ugly. Second acne treatment (23) Still trying to clear my back, I took doxycycline (4 months). Bacteria starting to get more resistant and stronger. Back unaffected. Face started breaking out in mild to moderate acne. I have a feeling it's also behind developing some problems down there. Third acne treatment (24) Doxycycline Vebramycin again for one month only. Completely useless. Today I was prescribed Isosupra Lidose. 32gm a day for five months. I weight 50 Kgs (105 lbs?). I took the first two 16 gm pills today. I only *pray* that it won't permanently harm me in anyway way. It's been 4 hours, the only thing I noticed so far is that I find it hard to find words :S It's strange to me. When I said above that antibiotics caused problems down there, it's because I paused blankly for a minute trying to remember what it was called. I still can't remember. That's a problem if it's going to stay. I have an important occasion in a month. I wish wish wish my face and back would clear a little bit. Just a little bit.
