So to catch you all up to my skin life. I quit the dermatologist. The antibiotics definitely helped clear my super annoying cystic acne. But the duac never worked well for me (finally I realized BP is not my friend) and the Tazorac worked EXTREMELY slowly and sometimes not at all in terms of clearing up scars. I then started using proactiv mask to spot treat and cortisone cream on my forehead where I get tiny itchy bumps and it worked. This is my current regimen: Morning: wash with Dove soap moisturize with cetaphil for people with eczema spot treat with clearasil adult spot treatment (Sulfur) if I have a really bad blemish Night: wash with Dove soap moisturize with clearasil overnight lotion (salicylic acid) spot treat with clearasil adult spot treatment If any place on my face itches I use cortisone on that part. 1-2x a week I exfoliate with st. ives apricot scrub (salicylic acid) and surprisingly it doesn't irritate me 1x a week I do a benzonite clay mask (I should do this more often but I just don't) I LOVE this current regimen, it's easy, I love the products, I love how they smell and feel, I love the consistency I see in my skin. I thank God that I finally found something that works and I pray you all find the same.
So I'm coming up on week 1 of my dermatologists regimine for me. She has me doing the following: morning: Wash with Dove sensitive skin soap put Duac on affected areas* take 1 sulfamethoxazole (antibiotic)** *use cetaphil cream if needed **I'm really bad with taking pills and the antibiotic ones are huge so I have to cut it into fours to take it night: wash with dove sensitive skin soap put tazorac on affected areas* take 1 sulfamethoxazole (antibiotic) *use cetaphil cream if needed I don't really have any "actives" I'm still learning the terms used on here But I am breaking out a little bit around where my glasses lie I've been cleaning my glasses daily so I don't know what else I can do for that. My right side looks worse than my left side but I do notice the blemishes have gotten smaller which is good. But I have terrible scarring so dark spots all over my face not good This week I should see even more progress because last week I was on my period and that's when my acne's the worst. I'm tryin to stick with it, but it's really hard, my face hasn't looked this bad in a while Oh I forgot one thing, my face itches my crazy!! I think the Duac itchs more than the Tazorac but I'm trying REALLY hard not to scratch my face ughh
