So i started the acne.org regimen back in 2009. And have had good days and some minor bad ones. But lately my skin is at its worse. I havent had acne this bad in a long time and it is really getting to me.
I am already under lots of stress.
Iam currently studying day and night for the OAT which is an optometry admissions test. And i am very stressed b/c i am wondering if all this work is worth it. And what if i do all this work and i still don't get in. I graduated already with my bio degree. And have my work and volunteer experience. One of my main problems is going back to teachers and asking for letters of recommendations b/c two letters need to be from teachers. And another stress is that my grades aren't competitive enough. I am just so worried that all this work is for nothing, bc i don't think i will get in.
Im afraid what will happen next. And what i will have to do if i don't get in.
One thing keeping me less stressed is that my bf is in medical school but he lives in another state attending. We have already discussed getting married just haven't told anyone yet. But of course i can't just rely on him to do well.
I don't know if ill need to go back to school and stay here bc it is cheaper (bc in-state and out-state fees) and i don't want to be far away from him or if i should just move there and start working and wait till i qualify for in-state there.
I am just so lost and so many things going through my mind.
I am evening getting body acne, which is new to me. I have already posted on the message boards for help on what to do about my new acne taking place. B/c i firmly do believe that the acne.org regimen does work and that i am just stressed.
Thanks for reading my rant, and hopefully writing this out helps me stress less.
So i woke up late unfortunately. I didn't have time to wash my fash or anything. I had about 15 min. to get ready. And i just washed my body with soap and combed my hair and brushed my teeth. I Did put my bare minerals on b/c my face did look really good today. But iam afraid it will be bad tomorrow. I can already see new pimples forming. Blah... i hate my face.
Can anyone recommend doing something diff. so i don't breakout so bad?
I applied a little more bp in certain areas. My face is already use to a lot of bp. And iam drinking a lot water.
So i have been using toner and it hasnt helped with dryness or flakiness but it does make it look less worse.
I can't really comment on the status of my skin as far as acne. B/c i have been changing and adjusted my regimen. I have gone back to the Purpose cleanser b/c it seems to work better however is really drying. I have also gone back to using Proactive BP.
And iam now using conditioner on a daily basis. Its paraben and sulfate free.
I have also tried a new powder and brush.
So i will have to update. But talking about it on here seems to really help my skin.
By the way i love the E.L.F. Complexion Brush!
So i have been switching up my routine. When i started it looked really good. But now, i dunno. I switched cleansers a few times to find one less drying. I have tried purpose, olay and cetaphil.
So far i like purpose and cetaphil, only b/c purpose is what first cleared me and it foams so i can tell if i washed there and i like cetaphil b/c it is gentle and doesnt leave my face tight after use. The olay was gentle and foamed but it didnt give provide any improvement. Cetaphil is the only one that doesnt leave my face tight.
I think i will be using purpose again.
I use dan's bp. I first was using proactiv and i don't really know if that worked better for me than dan's, but my face hasnt been as pretty since when i first started the regimen using proactiv bp.
The moisturizer has been the same. I have been using cetaphil, along with some sunscreens. I used jojoba oil with it but that didnt seem to help the flakiness or dry skin. I just bought the Cerave and used it tonite and i really like it b/c it isnt so greasy.
I am planning on buying some primer for my makeup b/c my makeup hasnt been going on so smoothly.
Right now i have a pimple next to my lip and a couple on my cheekbone. I also have a tiny one on my nose. Iam going to try not to let my hair touch my skin, and to make sure i wash my sheets and wash my face for tens seconds and apply everything very gently.
So far i like this regimen and how i dont get whiteheads. And none all around my cheek or forehead.
I will keep updating on how the cerave works. I may use proactiv bp again
So i have been on this for almost 7 months and iam still not fully clear and when my skin does clear up for a week or two it doesn't stay that way. I have stuck to this for awhile, especially just using the cleanser,bp and lotion. It maybe the cleanser or the lotion. However when i first started it worked great, so there must be something messing it up. It may also be my diet so i will be looking for a different cleanser yet again. Maybe i will try dans and see what happens, and the lotion. Anyone use all his products and had great success?
So the rest of my face looks so perfect and glow-ey. However i do have a chin pimple, my skin seems super dry there, right after washing, however moisturizing right after helps and it doesn't look flaky or dry.
I wish that right after i washed my face i wouldn't see the dryness all over also, but i do. However after applying the cetaphi to all of my face, it doesn't look flaky and no problems with how my face looks with makeup
I do have little pimples on my nose, they won't seem to go away. It seems like it goes away and comes back. But they don't fully emerge they are under the skin. So it bothers me, it is the only place i don't put makeup and if i do, it looks bad.
But i guess i will keep sticking it out. So far eliminating jojoba oil and AHA has helped. Although it did look nice when it was on, i don't think it helped my skin so much. So i guess my face does get more pimples when i use it. I will probably try using it on the neck. I have been getting some neck pimples and under my chin my skin is super dry so i will try it there.
Anyways, i have been really good about drinking water and no caffeine. And i only have junk food on monday, which is really just a burger fries and coke.
Anyways i will keep updating. I will get my period next week so ill keep you posted on if i break out. And i have to say warmer weather is better on my skin, although i prefer my cold weather
so all the pimples i mentioned are gone, but i do have one on the right side by my nose, but it isnt bad. And a pimple on my chin.
I am working now and iam worried that holding the phone to my chin will give me more pimples, but iam going to try really hard not to let it hit my chin so much.
However iam super tired, i worked about 11 hrs yesterday and then i had to wake up early for school today and i accidentally put on BP twice this morning. I guess i will see what happens. but a lot of the dryness and flakiness is gone. Just the tiny bit still on the left cheek, but it is looking really good.
Anyways not so much pimples anymore, iam really happy again. Iam keeping track of everything i do.
I make sure to change towels all time and flip my pillow and change the sheets and cases twice a week.
So i got another little pimple on my forehead and some bumps in between brows. I also have a little one on my right cheek. I still have the massive pimple on the left cheek.
Well this weekend iam taking a break from makeup. I guess this week i will only use mascara and not eyeshadow.
I bought a new blush brush and that may be the cause so iam going to make sure to wash it..
So the pimple i had on my nose is completely gone and healed, but like i said the other day i have the one on my left cheek, and it is horrible. It is really big! That is the only one left
My skin all over does seem blotchy and discolored but makeup will take care of that.
The left side is still the most dry and flaky. Everything else is dry but is taken care of with just lotion.
So hopefully the big pimple on my cheek will go away.
So my face for some reason looks a little more flakier then last time. Not really on the cheek. But this time on the nose, and that was doing good for the past week.
I did get a little pimple on my left cheek. And i had to put makeup on, hopefully it doesn't make it worse. It is super itchy i keep wanting to wash it all off and wash my face but that would ruin the routine. It is only 7:49 and i haven't even eaten dinner yet.
Anyways i haven't touched it or scratched. I am so proud of myself
That is why i am on here typing you all this.
Anyways i want to by new blush. Anyone have any recommendations?
So my skin is looking great. Still waiting for the pimple on nose to go away. Flakiness is very minimal. I am still not using any aha or jojoba oil.
Makeup is going on a lot nicer
I start work tomorrow, hopefully all goes well.
I think that now the weather is settling and it isn't going back from cold to hot, and it is cool like 50-70 degrees and no yucky rain and horrible humidity.
So still trying to be gentle, it is hard when you need to move fast. I just wish this regimen didn't take so long to do.
Anyways my flakiness and dryness has appeared more near eyes and forehead, right by the eyebrows. But it isn't that bad. And i still have some on chin. Cheeks are doing better.
I still have the pimple on the nose which is healing kind of weird. I have some tiny ones on forehead. You cant see them but i can feel them.
I haven't used any AHA or jojoba oil in awhile, so i think that is helping.
I am also trying really hard not to pick my face but with little flakes near my eyes, I can't help it.
Anyways I am going to try my best not to touch my face.
No pimples, just some red marks. But i think I am going to lay of the AHA till the weather becomes consistent. Ill just try to let those heal on their own. Ill just let the makeup cover that up.
I guess as long as i have no pimples and no dry skin i am happy. My skin will probably never be perfect with no red marks or hyper pigmentation, but that is what makeup is for. Even if i did have perfect skin i would probably wear makeup anyways.
so yesterday i had my interview and i had to put makeup on and it looked ok, not too dry looking.
But when i took off all my makeup at night and did the whole routine my face looks flakier and drier. And i woke up and i was flaky and the past few days my face looked fine. I wonder why after i wear makeup it would make my face drier.
Anyways, i am still not going to try anything new yet. But ill have to put makeup on again today. I will probably go to the store and see how much cerave costs and get blush.
In other words the pimple on forehead and the pimples on cheeks are gone. i think i only have 3 pimple right now, and the big one i had is still working its way down
I may look at some drugstore makeup for dry skin. Paula Begoun had a list of department store and drugstore makeup for dry, normal and combo skin that has spf. if anyone wants the url just let me know. I love her recommendations
so i know i keep updating, but it helps.
so i think the problem was that i wasnt being gentle enough when applying everything and washing.
I have really seen a difference just by barely touching my face when i was and apply bp and lotion.
A lot of the pimples on my cheeks are gone, and the whiteheads are already going down. My face looks a lot less red and a lot less flakiness.
I have regained hope.
BEING GENTLE IS THE KEY!
So i stopped using the generic of olay and only using cetaphil and the flakiness is going away.
However i still have a lot of pimples on the cheek and a bit on the nose and the ones on the forehead turned into little whiteheads.
I had a big whitehead on my cheek for a couple of days and it went away already and looks like its just a pimple again.
My pimples seem to take a lot longer to heal. But i guess ill see how it goes. Iam trying to be consistent. I started using a notebook so i make sure to stay on track and only use AHA 2 to 3 times a week and only at night.
Anyways ill keep you updated. I should be getting my period on tues or wed. so hopefully i don't breakout much more, i have an interview on tues.
So after being on here again and watching the videos i need to be extra careful about washing and apply bp and lotion. I stopped using the generic olay sunscreen since i havent been outside, and only using cetaphil. And so far the dryness and flakiness is almost gone.
I know i still need to be extra careful about washing and apply bp. I will keep updating.
However i do have a lot of pimples on the cheekbone and one big one on my left cheek. And a few on my forehead. My period will be starting next week and my skin tends to blow up before it. So, i guess that may be it. And i also have some pimples on my nose.
So i feel like iam back at square one.
But iam not gonna give up.
So i havent been on here for awhile and iam thinking i should, bc talking about this stuff makes me feel better and i don't feel as stressed out. Plus it makes me make sure that i don't do anything out of the ordinary from the regimen.
So lately i have had a bit more pimples. Mostly at the cheekbone. just a few little ones and some on the nose. And iam still battling flakiness. I tried switching to a diff. cleanser two weeks ago from purpose to the olay cleanser and it helped but just this week the flakiness has appeared again and it is horrible. It is all over, and i use aha and jojoba oil and use lots of mosturizer and i cant seem to get rid of it. Iam thinking of getting rid of my equate sunscreen, b/c it isnt a mosturizing spf and go back to the walgreens brand.
Iam thinking that most of the problems has to do with the weather. it keeps going from cold to hot and rainy.
And wearing any makeup looks absolutely horrible.
anyways iam gonna try to update more.
So some of the pimples are already going down or gone.
And i just started taking fish oil gummies 3 times a day. I just started on saturday.
I already did one exfoliation this week with AHA, so i can only use it once. i will probably do it on thur or fri. I will update when i use it again, to make sure i stay on the right track and don't over use it.
I should also try to stay on a constant schedule of when i use jojoba oil. I usually use it during the day mixed with my mosturizer, before i apply makeup. And i will use it everytime i don't use AHA as well.
So i havent been on here for awhile. Well i have been upset. I had my period last week and it just finished this past tuesday and my face blew up into a bunch of pimples. I got them on cheek forehead nose and chin and neck. The forehead pimples have already disappeared. The ones on the cheek were big and are slowly going away but they are. And my nose pimples wont seem to go away still. I have been having problems with the nose for awhile and i never had pimples on my nose. Iam thinking about not using bp there bc it may be irritating.
I have been on the regimen for three months now and i don't understand why i still breakout horribly on my period. Should i take vitamin supplements? I was thinking of taking fish oil and the other ones that dan uses.
I have stopped with the AHA constant usage. Iam cutting back to only twice a week. I have already used it twice this week so that is it for me
I also wanted to let you know about my mosturizer i just got. Since i ran out of my walgreens zinc oxide spf cream and they wont be selling it till the sping season, I decided to go and get the Walmart brand of Olay.
I have to say i really like it. I bought the Equate sensitive one. I really recommend using it after 15 mins prior to putting on BP. I waited only 10 and it clumped up. I would suggest mixing with jojoba oil. And applying very small amounts at a time b/c of the clump and b/c it goes on very white. This was ok for me b/c my face has been a little red. But it mosturized my skin very nicely and did the job i needed it to do.
So i have been inconsistent with the usage of both. I know i have been saying i was gonna use AHA less but it is hard not to. Anyways. My pimple on the forehead went away but on sat i recently got 4 pimples. Two on right side, one on the left side and one on the chin. One of the pimples on right is already going away with spot treatment and the one on the chin. The other two are still there. I should be getting my period soon, either tomorrow or wed.
I have also noticed that more pores look bigger during this time. Has anyone else noticed this? Anyways I am just goin to use jojoba oil today and use AHA on tuesday and thursday.
Or so i will try. It is really hard.
Is it ok to use AHA at nite on the 4 pimples as spot treatment and also use my cetaphil and jojoba oil on the other areas without AHA?
