I know it’s been a little while, so here’s the latest update! As of today, I’m noticing some blurred vision, but it’s mainly with my left eye. My right one seems fine. Both eyes are still photosensitive, so I’m just wearing sunglasses outside pretty much all of the time. This does seem to help quite a bit. The tops of my hands seem better and I’m sure this is only because I’ve been putting the Cerave moisturizing cream on them twice a day. My elbows are about in the same place too.
Hope everyone’s weekend went well! I thought I would post a quick progress update. Right now, the tops of my hands are still dry, but for a new development, my nose is drier than usual and is now feeling like it’s clogged all the time. Blood is definitely there too as I can taste it when I snort. Sorry if that’s gross, but I’m trying to keep these updates as real as possible. One more new item to mention is that the left side of my lips seems to be always dry and cracks. I’ve put the Cerave
I know it’s been a little while since my last update, so now is the time to provide the next one! Yesterday, I had visit number 3 with my dermatologist. He said that everything looks good and ordered labwork for me. I did the blood draw and the phlebotomist that drew the blood was amazing because I didn’t feel a thing! I’ll be sure to post the results if anything abnormal happens to come up. My routine is the same up to this point and I’m still taking 80mg daily. Other than the side ef
I thought I would finally upload a couple of photos that are pre-Accutane. As you can see, I have pimples on both sides of my chin. Visible scarring is also present from prior breakouts. Acne has not been a friend of mine at all (I even wrote a paper in college on the psych social effects it has on you), but I am thankful for the medications that are out there to help us all who have to deal with this disease!
Alrighty, I just wanted to provide a quick update on the new routine that I’m using for my face. Instead of using Cetaphil’s moisturizing cream twice a day, I’m using it only in the morning and this is because I incorporated Cerave’s moisturizing cream at night. I was getting some sensitive spots around my ears and on my neck, so I wanted to give my skin a little extra care in the evening. So far, this change has been good and unlike the earlier times that I had used the Cerave moisturizing crea
Ok, taking on 80mg hasn’t been too bad. The pores on my nose definitely feel like they’ve shrunk. Prior to just a few days ago, my nose looked like it was pushing out all of the plugs, so it felt a bit bumpy. But, now that the pores have shrunk and the plugs are almost gone, my nose feels pretty smooth. That, I can’t complain about one bit! For my hands, the tops of them are dry and look like they have red spots that come and go. I bought Cerave’s moisturizing lotion, not cream, to put on t
As of today, I’ve been bumped up to 80mg! During today’s appointment, my dermatologist felt pretty good about my progress while on 40mg, so he felt that now was the time to go up. I’m happy about the increase because I’m still on track for the 6-month duration versus one that drags out a little longer due to a lower dose being prescribed. I’ll be sure to post another update in a week’s time so that you can see what the first week is like on 80mg. Also, I’m still using just the basic gentle skin
After a couple of days using the Cetaphil moisturizing cream, I will say that I’ve seen solid improvements at how well it has worked for my dry skin. Though still dry, my skin doesn’t have that stinging sunburn feeling all of the time like I had when I was using the Cerave moisturizing cream. I have to reiterate at how well the Cetaphil moisturizing cream is more easily absorbed by my skin. I’m quite pleased with the results from the switch in moisturizers. Also, with the switch, I haven’t recei
I just wanted to provide a quick update on the moisturizer that I’m using. After a few days of using the Cerave moisturizing cream, as of today, I switched to Cetaphil’s moisturizing cream. The reason why? It’s because I found that the Cerave cream didn’t absorb as well as it could have. With my skin flaking, I didn’t necessarily find that it provided the moisture my skin really needed (especially with it being winter too). So, as of today and after a lot of research, I opted to use Cetaph
Ok, so week one done! It was actually quite tougher then I had remember from the last time that I had taken Accutane. My face is really dry and so are both my eyes and ears. There’s definitely some flaking going on too. My forehead and cheeks feel like I was sunburned. Because of this, I switched facial moisturizers from Cetaphil to Cerave’s moisturizing cream. I’m only on day two of using this, so it’s hard to say if things will change from here. My fingers are crossed for that! As for my
So, here I am starting a third round of Accutane at 40. Yes, that’s right. I said it - 40! I thought at some point that I would get over the acne after the first two rounds, but this little bugger is persistent. Well, a little bit of a history here on me and my acne. I started breaking out in my late teens and early 20s. I tried every over the counter cleanser, acne medicine, etc., but nothing worked. I tried your different ‘cyclines and topical creams that were all prescribed by a dermato
