Casualty of Accutane induced Polycythemia Rubra Vera

29 years ago my dad ended up taking accutane, which i'm guessing mutated his red blood cells to end up with polycythemia rubra vera. anyways we lost him 2 days ago because they couldn't move him from icu to surgery without risking his heart stopping (he had part of his small intestine removed the first time in icu which he aggravated his condition taking himself too hard with his department manager duties at Real Canadian Superstore  after getting out resulting in a hernia operation and later a

First microneedling appointment

So I had my very first microneedling appointment done yesterday (April 17th, 2017) I am on the end of my tenth week of Dans regimen, so I figured it would be a good time to jump-start my scar revision process. The doctor used 2.5mm needles, using the "Rejuvapen." I only had my cheek areas treated, because those ares are really my only areas of concern. I'm dealing with mild-moderate rolling scars, possibly even a boxcar scar or two, however, all of these scars are very smooth, and do not exceed

Head and shoulders 2 in 1 men's shampoo

So this shampoo was left by a friend who moved away... No one in the house is using this so I went ahead and used it to wash my makeup brush... It's so freakingly heavily fragranced with this men's smell.. the smell lingers very long time.. after my brush dried and I use the brush, it made my face super itch!!!!! I thought it was the powder/ nyx nofilter finishing powder, then I tried it with another brush which was used for a while; not right after washed and dried, it was not super itch, just

Should've started with this... Better late than never

If you are reading this, don't lose hope. I think this is going to help you. (I'm from the Philippines btw) I'm 28 right now, and have had to fight acne for 8 years. Age 20-24: *College days, stress at peak levels, all that stuff. Boom, 1 pimple appeared, tried to pop it. The next day, it came with reinforcements. And another one. Time for some face wash. Yep it feels good, and clean. I want that squeaky clean. A few days passed, nothing's working. *Keeps popping* Now it's bad. Al

Week 15, Day 6

Hey hey, So, things are looking really good. The last time I had an inflamed pimple was about three weeks ago. The last time I had a CYST was... wow... at least two months ago! DKR really works. Generally my face is really smooth, but two weeks ago I did a Nair treatment on my face and left it on a minute too long, which ended up irritating my face a lot. I think as a result of that, I got a few clogged pores on both sides of my face. I HATE these things because they take a while to go

An introduction

I've been suffering from acne ever since I was about 14. Today I'm clocking in at 23, a month or so away from 24. It's always been somewhere in the more severe end of the "mild/moderate" category, no cysts thankfully, but still enough the grant me a somewhat clippling social anxiety. Let's just say my romantic life and self confidence hasn't been the best, partly because of this. Like most people I've:   Benzoyl peroxide (worked the best for me)  B5  Zinc

Biore pink sunscreen milk, the ordinary caffeine serum, and kose speedy cleansing oil

The pink bottle Biore sunscreen milk is irritating not only my face ( break me out mildly) but also my body: legs and arms (itchy contact dermititis)...  I thought it was mosquito bites but then realized it's not... (this sunscreen contains talc.)   I also confirmed that the ordinary caffeine serum is irritating to my skin, make my face itch and break me out mildly... Not sure what is the trigger.    Last night I had to wash my face with vanicream gentle cleanser 3 times to r

Acne

Hey, I’m a 17 soon 18 year old boy. I’m wondering if my acne is severe or what it is. Will it fade away with time or do I need any form of treatment? I’m looking forward for it not being nothing too serious!

Niacinamide makes face face itch!!!

Mmm just figured another trigger ingredient for me... Niacinamide... I couldn't figure out why when I tried the dermatology tinted sunscreen SPF 46 my face itched like crazy I washed it off immediately. I returned it... That was long time ago... Today I applied cetaphil mineral liquid sunscreen SPF 50 my face itched again... on another hand it kind of irritated my eyes... Then I remembered same feeling when I used la Roche posay the cica balm and lipikar eczema cream.. same itch on my face.

Skin is stablized

I finally figured what are my acne triggers.. oil and talc.  Any 100% straight up oil (jojoba, argan, sweet almond, oilve, coconut, mtc, mineral oil) Any cleansing oil (tiss, dhc, kose speedy, shu uemura, fancl) High Talc containing face powders (setting powder, blush, bronzer) talc that is listed as the first ingredient.. not sure if is listed second lol..    Current skin care routine  AM  Vanicream gentle cleanser  CeraVe lotion  Malazpan azlaic aci

Pustules and sebaceous filaments gone

It's been a while. My last post on this website was 6 years ago. I stopped visiting after I found a skincare regimen that mostly worked for me. My issues were oily skin, pustules, and sebaceous filaments. Most of this was clustered right on my nose, which caused many years of embarrassment and self-consciousness for me. I was fortunate that my acne was mild/moderate, but it was still gross looking. Nowadays, my skin is still as oily as ever. I suspect that will never change, but the di

3 years of Acne..and counting

I used to have a clear skin until I turned 22. I thought I was the lucky one in our Acne- ridden family, but no. It didn't skip me, it just took its time. I am 26 now and still battling acne Everything changed since then. Before, I had a very simple skincare routine and often praised by friends and family members about my spotless skin and asked about my skincare routine.. which I didn't really have. Just a simple face wash and that's it.  Fast forward to 3 years, acne is still he

My Experience With Benzoyl Peroxide

What was once my best friend is now my enemy. In the beginning, benzoyl peroxide helped me prevent acne and get rid of the current acne that I had. Eventually, it caused my skin to become dry and oily at the same time. It happened so gradually that I didn't realize that benzoyl peroxide was ruining my skin. I started using benzoyl peroxide religiously my sophomore year. There were a few times when I would use it on and off, but altogether, I used benzoyl peroxide for 3 years. At first my ski

Scarring

Hi everyone, the photos you see were taken in natural lighting aka the WORST lighting other than overhead lights that make my scars light up like it’s Christmas lol.    I suffer from the aftermath of severe cystic hormonal acne that I battled with for many years in my teens. Being the dumb invincible teenage that I was, I didn’t realize what my future face was going to look like by neglecting to get proper treatment and picking at my skin.    I am currently using topical clynd
