Pros:

doesn't feel like you have makeup on. Easy to apply

Cons:

doesn't cover much. Hard to get the right shade. price.

I got the matte version, and while I don't think that I had an increase in acne, it also didn't seem to have the coverage or oil control that I was looking for.

Pros:

-Looks nice

Cons:

-Doesn't help with acne at all

I was excited to try this product, since I heard it was great for acne. I didn't notice any difference, but I kept using it for a year. I finally found out it has oil in the product and has promoted break outs for me. So, I have since switched. Plus, I feel the brushes are just spreading the acne on my face. I washed my brushes 1x/wk and it just wasn't working for me.

Pros:

I don't break out!
Everything!

Cons:

More money than I would like to spend
Needs tinted moisterizer under to stay on.

For a long time I just was accepting my fate of acne. One day in a outlet mall I passed the store so we stopped in. I ended up getting some and later that day I applied. After a couple days my acne was much better than its been in a while. Apparently quite a few different powders break me out because I have changed nothing else in my routine.

Pros:

full coverage
one product used for concealer and foundation
lasts a long time, so fairly affordable

Cons:

aggravates acne
cakey coverage
makes red marks look ashy when covered
drying
make-up rubs off onto clothing
high-maintenance application
not very portable

I can't belive I used Bare Escentuals/Bare Minerals for so long. I thought that because it was a powder it must be oil free and that any liquid makeup would be worse for my (adult) acne-prone skin. Then one day I went into a makeup store to find a portable compact and the ladies set me straight. My acne is moderate at this point, and mainly concentrated on the jaw line (towards my ears). It's been a problem for years now, and I basically had thrown up my hands and settled for "good enough." Bare Minerals seemed to cover my acne and though the acne didn't get any better, it also didn't get any worse. Well the make-up store consultants felt that my skin was too dry, the coverage was cakey, the coloring was ashy over my scars, and (besides my jawline) I really didn't need a full coverage make up all over. News to me!! Also, they informed me that Bare Minerals does in fact contain oils, and the oils are probably exacerbating my acne. Surprisingly they weren't trying to do a hard sell for anything, but they suggested I find an oil-free tinted moistruizer and oil-free concealer or touch-up stick. Also, they suggested an oil-free gel cream moisturizer. A few months later, things are definitely getting better with my skin and I have ditched *all* of my Bare Ecentuals/Bare Minerals products. I really can't believe how much my skin has improved in a short time!! Here are some of the products I've switched to (all oil free and not too expensive): Purpose cleansing bar; Garnier Moisture Rescue gel cream (morning moisturizer); Keihls Sodium PCA Oil Free Moisturizer (night moisturizer); Murad acne treatment concealer; Almay Clear Complexion concealer; Sephora brand oil-free tinted moistruizer; Sephora perfecting cover concealer; Physician's Formula Mineral Wear talc-free, oil-free blush and bronzer; Revlon Colorstay pressed powder (also oil-free and talc free); Acne-free Terminator spot treatment. I don't use all of the makeup products at once of course!!

Pros:

None for me

Cons:

Everything

I brought a sample of this and I'm glad I only brought the sample and didn't waste a lot of money! I took all my makeup off so I had a clear base. I put it on and it looked horrible! I went completely orange and it didnt do anything for my spots, my whole face was orange but the redness of my spots still came through and it was patchy! It felt like I had put talc poweder on my face! No matter how much I put on it did nothing for me. Glad I only brought a Sample.

Cons:

Looks cakey
Causes HUGE breakouts
Left my skin oily

I started using this product when I first began doxycycline. At first my skin looked great with this product but after awhile it started to make me break out. I had huge cysts on my face and they took forever to go away! I would definitely test this product out first before making a full commitment.

Pros:

- Flawless coverage
- Light and lets skin breathe
- Relatively inexpensive compared to other designer foundations
- Mostly sweatproof
- As a powder, blending blush and bronzer is much easier than thick liquid foundations
- SPF is nice!

Cons:

- Requires touch-up during summer heat or looks cakey (like everything else)

Wonderful product that I have been using on top of light liquid foundations for the past five years. Unfortunately the lightest shade is still slightly too dark for my skin, but it's the closest I have found to my natural hue and provides the best redness coverage with none of the mask-like qualities of heavy liquid concealers. The matte version is my favorite!

Pros:

THESE ARE ALL FOR THE MATTE VERSION:
Not greasy or oily
No shine
No bismuth - doesn't itch or cause acne
Great shade range
Covers well
Lasts forever
Clicking lid keeps it neat

Cons:

Price
Have to clean brushes regularly
Can settle into fine lines if you don't moisturize
Won't look great if you don't have flakes under control

The MATTE version is great makeup for the acne prone. It is easy to cover up just your active pimples or the whole face if you want. At night, I use this just on any red pimples so that I don't scare my husband or kids; I do a full-face application during the day. Lots of shades and places to try them so no excuse to not have a perfect match. I do NOT like the full-coverage kabuki-style brushes as they make it go on too heavy, but you may like that if your skin is worse than mine. Definitely get a concealer brush to add more coverage to big pimples. You can skip the separate concealer and everything else that they try to sell you on. To be clear, the MATTE version has no bismuth and is not irritating. I have tried their primer and it works well, but I find that just my sunscreen is fine as a primer.

Pros:

Large selection of foundation shades to choose from.

Cons:

Messy! Also this product contains bismuth which aggravates acne and can cause flare-ups. Also the primer can be very drying to the skin and cause dryness.

Can be costly due to the fact there is a different brush to use for every product you apply to your face. Made my face look dull without any kind of "glow" to it and caused me to have breakouts. Coverage was ok..could have been better.

Pros:

Lightweight
Doesn't clog pores
Easy to control coverage
Matte finish
Doesn't cause or irritate breakouts

Cons:

Can be a little messy-- spills easily

I use the Matte formula, which does not contail bismuth and thus is a little easier on acne-prone skin. This goes on really well over the acne.org regimen products, which is great. I have found that some liquid makeups are difficult to apply over my acne treatment products. I also love how easy it is to use the same product as a concealer (under-eye or blemishes) and a foundation. To keep the matte effect all day, I mix the mineral veil with the foundation and then apply it. It's a great makeup for acne prone skin and I highly recommend it.
