| Pros: | -it works almost immediately
-reduce oil by 50%
-my energy level has shot up the roof |
| Cons: | -it makes me slightly nauseous
-i need a daily dosage of 200mg of zinc gluconate (equivalent of elemental zinc 26mg) |
| Bottom Line: | -I felt literally alive again. After exactly 10 years of moderate acne condition with cystic breakouts, improvements started to show right from day 1
-A common question asked is how much "elemental zinc" we need, which is not the same as how much zinc tablet (e.g. zinc gluconate) we need everyday.
-% RDA is based on elemental zinc. Do your own study to understand your actual dosage and avoid any unnecessary fear of actually overdosing zinc |

| Pros: | Some people say it works |
| Cons: | You might experience side effects such as headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and death.
The maximum tolerable daily intake for adults is 40mg--recommended intake is around 8-11mg. |
| Bottom Line: | Health Risks from Excessive Zinc:
Zinc toxicity can occur in both acute and chronic forms. Acute adverse effects of high zinc intake include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and headaches [2]. One case report cited severe nausea and vomiting within 30 minutes of ingesting 4 g of zinc gluconate (570 mg elemental zinc) [78]. Intakes of 150–450 mg of zinc per day have been associated with such chronic effects as low copper status, altered iron function, reduced immune function, and reduced levels of high-density lipoproteins [79]. Reductions in a copper-containing enzyme, a marker of copper status, have been reported with even moderately high zinc intakes of approximately 60 mg/day for up to 10 weeks [2]. The doses of zinc used in the AREDS study (80 mg per day of zinc in the form of zinc oxide for 6.3 years, on average) have been associated with a significant increase in hospitalizations for genitourinary causes...etc... |

| Bottom Line: | i read this post 5 months ago when i started to break out again. I have taken accutane 3 times in the past. once when i was 17, again at 19 and again around 21/22. I am 24 and started to break out again and was extremely frustrated. after reading the reviews i figured i'd give fish oil/zinc a try. when i first started taking these two pills i did break out a little. (i was used to his as you do this w/ accutane as well) after a month i started to clear up. 5 months have gone by and my skin has been great. (keeping my fingers crossed!!) i take 1 fish oil pill a day (1000mg) and 1 zinc pill a day (50 mgs) I would tell anybody to try this...you have nothing to lose. good luck! oh, i also wash w/ cetaphyl gentle cleanser and use BP 2.5% every night. |

| Pros: | Skin cleared almost completely within days and all redness around scars seemed to fade. I started taking it after a violent breakout as I read that it worked and I was surprised as to how well and how quick. |
| Cons: | Felt a bit sick shortly after taking it, but it goes quite quickly. |
| Bottom Line: | In the past I've been on oxytetracyline, doxycyline, dyferin gel, roaccutane... and nothing has cleared it as well, and as quickly as Zinc.
Very impressed. I've only been using it for about two weeks, but already, I look and feel better. |

| Pros: | I notice a differance in my acne each day I take it, its really worth going out and getting. :D |
| Cons: | I had some inccidents when i forgot to eat and I threw up hardcore. Nobody likes to throw up, so please a eat a full meal.. trust me. |
| Bottom Line: | It works very well, I reccomend it to anyone who is struggling with acne that is just an unbalance of hormones, like mine is. (:
I take 50MG twice a day, breakfast and dinner.
So thats 100MG a day, and it works.
I wouldn't take anymore than that though. |

| Pros: | It does help the healing process of the skin. It partially prevents the return of pimples and revives the skin. It definitely works but you'll have to show some patience. It can take up to 2 weeks to become really effective. |
| Cons: | I have never experienced nausea. But if you overdo the dosage, you may experience some diarrhea-like symptoms. Try not to take more than 50mg per day. Crossing the 100mg per day mark can cause zinc poisoning. Not good. Just be patient. |
| Bottom Line: | It just works. No prescription needed. Inexpensive, natural, and overall good for the body. You may as well just eat tons and tons of mushrooms as they have a high concentration of zinc. But a zinc tablet is just much easier. Note that I have very very light akne. I am 30 years old and just have a pimple or two per month. I used to have very bad akne until I took antibiotics against it, which totally ruined my hormone balance in my body. I was 98 percent cured of pimples but once in a while one comes out to mock me. For me zinc works perfectly since I have not much to cure. So for those of you who suffer from only very light akne, this is the solution. I am not sure how good constant zink consumption in high doses is for those with heavy akne. You'd have to take a lot and that can't be very good. Zinc poisoning is pretty harsh stuff. Zinc is considered a heavy metal and being poisoned by it should be treated with a hospital visit. And some milk. |

| Pros: | AMAZING! In 10 DAYS MY SKIN WAS COMPLETELY CLEAN AND SMOOTH. I WAS MORE ACNE FREE THEN I HAVE EVER BEEN...EVER! |
| Cons: | If you take it on an empty stomach....you can throw up and feel VERY sick. |
| Bottom Line: | I started using it 2 weeks ago. After using it once a day every day for 10 days, my skin was SO SMOOTH and absolutly NO acne. NO JOKE. Also, my skin had a glow, it looked tan, And my cheeks looked very blushy in a cute way. TRY THIS! For the first couple days it doesent seem to work, but just keep using it consistently and in 10 days you will see a difference! |
