| Pros | Cheap Still early to tell |
|---|---|
| Cons | none yet |
| Bottom line | Im 25. After being on roaccutance less than 2 years ago, i broke out with milia(the under skin white bumps, that look horrible in the sunlight)and acne on my cheeks again(inflamated and red) and my self esteem has taken a huge nose dive. I went to a dermatologist and he prescribed me with one capsule of 200mg zinc gluconate a day for a month to see how it goes, I really hope it works, because i dont really want to go on roaccutane again. I will check in with my results soon, If ANYONE has a simular problem with milia and knows any treatments that work, id really like to hear about it. Thank you and GOOD LUCK everybody. Oh and he also prescibed me la roche posay cream, its wonderful for sensitive skin heres the website [link removed] |

| Pros | It made my otherwise terrible skin look better then average withtin a few weeks. |
|---|---|
| Cons | None |
| Bottom line | I have had severe acne for 12 years now (since junior high) and most products that i tried helped somewhat, but none of them made my skin look really really clear and nice (accutane, zynerit, dinae 35, etc) They stopped acne from actually coming out, but still left my skin looking unclear, blackheads stayed, and it just didn't look good. My dermatologist suggested that i should try taking zinc now, and i did. After a week, i couldnt believe what i saw. My skin started to look really clear, even the blackheads faded, and though i have scars left on my face, my complexion looks clear, even better then the average person's skin.(not like a supermodel, but hey :) after so many years of severe acne, this is better what i could ever hope for) I am also using a face scrub with zinc now, which helped even more. I really recommend trying it for everyone who is not satisfied with their skin yet. |

| Pros | Everything! Small easy to swallow and can be applied topically too! |
|---|---|
| Cons | May upset your sromach so eat a small meal first! Also make sure you getting Zinc Gluconate ONLY! |
| Bottom line | I begin taking zinc gluconate a week ago and I notice a brighter smoother complexion. I usually take a multivitamin that has 30mg then later in the day/ evening I take 1-2 more 30mg vitamins at different times totaling about 90-120 mg a day. Its reccommended to only take 60mg I believe so I will lower the does in a month besides not all of the zinc is absorbed anyway..but don't listen to me, do your own research. But here's MY GREAT DISCOVERY! I put 2 zinc peels in a plastic baggy and wacked them with a knife until they were fine little grainy peieces, then I applied a drop of my body shop tea tree toner, and applied over the blemished areas with my finger. I left it on over night and woke up to a beautifully brighter and MUCH SMOOTHER complexion! Also drink LOTS of water and great Luck! |

| Pros | -Extremely cheap -Widely available -Healthy |
|---|---|
| Cons | NONE |
| Bottom line | After reading all the reviews, I knew that I had to try it. However, I was still somewhat skeptical but thought I had nothing to lose so I bought a bottle of zinc. I feel that my acne is clearing up really quickly and I'm starting to notice the effects already, and I've only been taking it for 2 days. I feel that my complexion is brighter as well. I feel like I need the zinc because I am a vegetarian. FYI, I've tried -Flaxseed oil (the plant-based type, caused an allergic reaction, itchy rash that made me wake up in the middle of the night..it was a horrible experience) -Apple Cider Vinegar (caused an allergic reaction, caused some discomfort) I'd highly recommend zinc. I have sensitive skin and this works great for me :) |

| Pros | Inexpensive & not topical. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Like most people have mentioned: You must take it after food or you'll have stomach pains. |
| Bottom line | I was really skeptical when I came on this site and saw all the testimonials in zinc's favor. I figured I must've got enough in my diet, so something else should be the cause of my (moderate but persistent) acne. I went to [link removed] and noticed that the amount of zinc in foods I eat was so negligible compared to the recommended amount suggested here (50ish mg). I bought a 50mg Zinc supplement and a multivitamin. After a couple weeks I noticed a significant improvement in my skin without using my benzoyl peroxide. Try it. It's super cheap - I bought generic CVS tablets. |

| Pros | made my face less oily in a matter of two days. toned skin instantly.. smOOooOOthed it out a bit. |
|---|---|
| Cons | none yet...not even an upset stomache. |
| Bottom line | I'm 17 and i've had severe acne since i was like 12. on my face, my BACK especially(i cant even wear a bathing suit :( or tank tops), upper arms (shoulders &all around my bra strap), a little bit of acne on my chest. ive tried zinc gluconate for about 3days at about 150mg, and im already starting to see an even tone and smoother skin! but ive also been scrubbing my back with Clean &Clear in the shower with a back brush..but zinc helped make my skin LESS OILY...just a little bit of change with the zits, but i have a feeling this will work!..ive tried tetracycline and minocycline in the past, but i wasnt faithful to those as they made my skin irritated..zinc has yet to upset my stomach or irritate my skin!! Oh yeah, zinc is good for teens i heard because it BALANCES HORMONES..which is a leading cause for teenage acne, out of whack hormones.in a couple days ill probably reduce to at least 100mg of zinc so i wont become deficient in another vitamin or mineral (2much zinc wil do this). |

| Pros | I use 60 mg of source naturals optizinc, its excellent, reduced acne by 90%, old scars are healing, smoother, even toned skin, getting rid of blackheads too. I use it in combination with whole food vitamin/mineral called Alive by natures way. |
|---|---|
| Cons | none |
| Bottom line | Great product, you should totally give it a try, remember not to take more then 100 mg a day and take it with meal. Optizinc is best since its binded with copper which prevents dificiency. My skin looks really great since I started eating healthy, whole grains, fresh fruits, bright veggies, cutting out sugars and sweets. I used to have fine lines on my forehead which dissapeared too after I started using a supplement called Green Vibrance, it comes in powder form, full of whole foods and vitamins. |
