| Pros | great skin clearing, anti-aging benefits of a retinoid (helps cell turnover and collagen regeneration) |
|---|---|
| Cons | can cause redness for sensitive skin, can't use this if you have a history of ulcerative colitis etc |
| Bottom line | A little goes a long way. Do not use a lot. Worked very well for me. For those that have reported acne getting worse while using it, this sometimes has to happen, any current acne pustules on your face that are already beginning to surface need to purge so you can clean the pores. It may take 8-12 weeks before you get optimum results so you have to be patient with any acne medication. With this product you also need to gradually use. I do not use this everyday. Start using 1 day/week and work up. It may be helpful to use an oral antibiotic in addition to the topical use of Ziana for the 1st month as my doctor did. I have adult combination acne (cystic and papules) and this is the best my skin has looked. I use this product 2-3x/ week and then I started using a natural green clay mask 1x every 2 weeks. (Indian Healing Clay: Calcium Bentonite) P.S. I paid nothing for this product go to Medicis Medisave program on Ziana's website to get a coupon. My dermatologist also gave me a manufacturers coupon for 1 free 60g tube. |

| Pros | Worked initially. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Stopped working after a week. Make skin red and dry. |
| Bottom line | The first time i used this i was amazed with the results. My active pimples were almost completely dried up by the next morning. Unfortunately, it stopped working for me after a week. It also made my skin very red (I have fair skin). |

| Pros | No staining clothes!!! Ease/cost of 1 large tube Quick drying & not sticky |
|---|---|
| Cons | A little more oily Sensitivity to sun & wind Dry throat/ cough |
| Bottom line | One large tube is the cost of two previous meds & four times the use. Finally, 5 months...my skin is smoother, tighter and if I do have that occassional breakout, it clears within a few days. Pitfall ~ I tend to have a dry throat/cough since started use; keep hydrated. I had noticable reddening & pithy look with previous meds ~ Now I get compliments! |

| Pros | ( I also started Ortho Tri-Cycline birth control 2 weeks ago) -Diminishing blackheads -Quickly shrinking my inflamed lesions -no new acne to speak of -much less inflamation and MUCH smaller pores. |
|---|---|
| Cons | -some flaking of skin -smells like the agar plates in my microbiology class? -can be super pricey (this is where the last point was lost) but I had a free trial coupon |
| Bottom line | I am on a great combination of stuff. I am taking ortho tri-cyclin ( which treats hormonal acne problems), Aczone in the AM, and Ziana in the evenings. I feel like the Ziana is having the greatest affect because there is visible difference in my acne from the time I go to sleep at night to when I wake up for work in the morning. My doc would also like me to take Solodyn, but I had an issue getting the prescription..they want to charge $400. My one problem is with the company Medicis in itself. They give out this three month discount card, which makes both prescriptions a combined $30 a month but once that runs out, these two drugs (Ziana and Solodyn) retail for about $500 each per month and my blue cross isn't wanting to accept it. Basically, if you can get the medications inexpensively, DO IT. Good stuff. I am seeing results after a week, even though in their trials there was only a 21% success rate (meaning 21% of the patients were TOTALLY cleared). I guess I would go into that group. |

| Pros | Works well Easy to apply Doesn't seem to bleach fabric |
|---|---|
| Cons | Dries out skin Smells funny |
| Bottom line | I really like Ziana gel. I get acne all over my body, not just on my face, so I can use this product without worrying about my clothes becoming discolored. I use it with Zaclir body wash, so my skin is always a little dry, but over all, I'm very pleased with this. It takes a while to work, but the results are worth it. |

| Pros | well for one it worked! |
|---|---|
| Cons | none, my skin was red ,dry and irritated from other products. |
| Bottom line | it really depends on your skin on how soon it will clear your acne. for me it was fast after my dermatologist injected this medicine into the really big ones and ziana helped with the small ones by the next day. my derm recommended i apply ziana once a day, my skin seems to be responding very well |

| Pros | My face feels "tighter" Zits are clearing up but others are coming out |
|---|---|
| Cons | Drying Skin is sensitive to tears |
| Bottom line | I've only used this for about 3 weeks, but it seems I see improvement. I feel the price of the medicine is very well worth the $. I heartily recomend this gel. |

| Pros | so easy to use and lasts for a long time. takes a while to work but with consistent use, you'll see your acne start to clear. |
|---|---|
| Cons | PURGING. red marks seem to last longer. |
| Bottom line | i have been using ziana for exactly 2 months today and my face has really cleared up. My main problem spots was my forehead, cheeks, and the sides of my mouth. You have to be VERY patient because this stuff purges your skin, or at least it did mine, so i broke out SO BAD the first month but now my skin has calmed down and i really only have 2, small active pimples. My forehead is completely clear, my cheeks are slowly but surely getting there. Stick with it, it gets worse before better but before you think about quitting make sure you at least give it a chance to work. I'm also on Solodyn and using Triaz 6% foaming clothes but i think the ziana is what's making the difference. |
