I feel like I have hit the lottery. I am extremely relieved to see that I am not the only person that has experienced such extreme side effects from taking this pill. I just went to the doctor today about all these freaky symptoms I have been having and I was diagnosed with reflux and "delayed panic attacks". I left feeling like I was crazy and tonight seeing all these similar stories makes me feel like I am not crazy!! I intend to notify all 4 of the doctors I have seen about my symptoms to let them know. Thanx for all your entries, you just saved me a lot of money and a lot of frustration.

I was so relieved to read all of the comments regarding side effects. I've been on Yasmin twice, once for about a year and a half and most recently about a year for endometriosis. It isn't worth it. I've ended up in the emergency room twice with elevated blood pressure and rapid heart beat (approx. 110). They checked everything and couldn't find any indication of what it was. I noticed this is starting to happen every night within a couple hours of taking Yasmin. I am very sensitive to medication but this has been the worst ever. At one point, I was put on anti-anxiety medication and incorrectly diagnosed as bi-polar. Tonight was my last pill even though I have 10 more in the pack. I just hope I can survive the rest of the week. I would hate to see other's go through this. If you have allergies or sensitivities to chemicals etc., I would not recommend it.

Im half way through my third month of Yasmin, it just came available to Canadians. So far I feel really good. I have lighter periods without cramps (I had very painful cramps), and my skin is starting to clear up. I am not constantly bloating like i was on Ortho Tricylin and I don't have any of the moodiness or depression that seems to be happening for most of the people here. I am certainly freaked out about everything I am reading from all of you and considering finding a new pill...

hello all. i was on dianette for 4 years until i swapped to yasmin 3 weeks ago after my usual 7 day break from Diannette. i was terrified my acne was going to get worse again and i was checking my skin every few minutes and my boyfriend thought that i was going mad! However, my skin has actually got even better than it was when i was on diannette. i havnt suffered from any headaches or bloating or bad moods. The only thing i have noticed is that i have been quite tired and lethargic but that could be caused by anything. The only really worrying thing was that i had a bit of dizziness the other day which i have never had before, but I think that many symptoms which may seem like side effects are actually stress related and worrying about them can actually make them worse and thinking about having no libido while having sex is just going to make you have even less libido i would have thought.

Hi-

I just got a prescription for Yasmin today, now after reading all of your comments I am kind of scared about taking it. I have never used BCPs before, and my dermatologist gave me these for acne. I'm worried because I'm already taking antidepressants and I don't want to get more depressed from the pill. I guess I just need to give it time and see if it helps?

Hi ladies,
I have been on Yasmin for almost a year now and i am really getting side effects from it. I have severe headaches, constipation problems all the time not to mention urinary infections.I gained some weight too from the time i started it. The only good things that happen to me from when i started the pill is that i do not have cramps and i am regular in my periods. By the way i am only 26 and i already do not want to have sex,all because of Yasmin. I am going to get off it this month. Thanks for the site.

I went on Yasmin specifically for my acne. It cleared upp a little bit by reducing the oil, but for the rest of my body is a different story. The first 3 months is a killer. You know the depressed feeling you get when right before you get your period? Well with this birth control, I felt that way for 3 months. I am always tired and moody till this day. (almost a year) Don't take strong antibiotics if your on this pill!!! I did for a foot infection and I developed a yeast infection in my mouth, from the birth control! And now i developed erythema nodosium or something, which is a big rash on both my ankles. Also, my sex drive was completely done. Don't mess around with your hormones, it's not worth it!

I started on Yasmin a couple of months back. I found it good for my skin which was the reason i took i did get a bit depressed and still do. But id rather get a bit depressed then have acne cause that just kills your self esteem and that leads to depression on a grander scale. If you taking this for your skin i recommmend it, if your taking it for birth control maybe try something else

Yamin worked great for my complexion but was not near worth the awful side effects. Since being on Yasmin I have had problems with anxiety/panic attacks, depression, extreme mood swings, joint aches and pains, IBS, fatigue, blurred vision, weight gain, chest pain, and breast pain. It is the worst pill I have ever taken and I have tried 5 different BCPs.

I was on Yasmin for over three years and thought all was well until one night the dizzy spells that I thought were from allergies turned into to one 5 month vertigo attack that sent me to 5 different doctors, I had two MRIs, a complete cardic workup, and some tests I wouldn't want my worse enemy to go through, all to the tune of about $8000.00 just to discover, on my own, by trial and error that it was more than likely the Yasmin that was doing it to me. I have been off for more than a month and have already been able to exercise again, my sex life is back, my stomache problems are getting better and I can see again. All this was from Yasmin. I was happy because I didn't gain weight on it, little did I know what was really going on. Take care, ladies and really listen to your body and what is happening to it while on this drug.
