I've taken Yasmin for 9 months and only just realized after reading this and other forums that I'm not going crazy! I've had chest pains, digestive problems, dizziness, blurred vision, heart palpitations, panic attacks, and shortness of breath. Doctors haven't been able to give any explanation other than "stress", which I thought was a total cop-out. Thank you all so much for posting your side effects--- I don't know if I ever would have connected how I feel to the pill without reading this. I stopped taking it 2 nights ago and am praying that I'll feel like my old self again soon.

I've tried other pills before and never had problems like I did with Yasmin. The first time I tried it I became extremely depressed, suffering waves of anxiety that made it impossible for me to do my job on some days and very nearly ruined some of my closest relationships. It took me a while to figure out that the feelings of despair and hopelessness were coming from the Yasmin. Even though many other women are reporting these same symptoms, the manufacturer doesn't list them in the (already lengthy) side effects. Like other women have reported, I would wake up in the morning and just cry for no reason--it felt like my life was falling apart. When I quit Yasmin, I got better right away. Several months later I thought I would just try one of the remaining Yasmin pill packs I still had. It was such a bad idea! Within days I was struggling with very severe anxiety/depression and had to ride out the whole month. I'll never make that mistake again. This drug should be taken off the market if you ask me. The danger far outweighs the benefits--this drug had no positive or negative effect on my acne.

I can only speak as I find and I am very pleased that my acne has cleared up after 3 months of use and I have none of the side effects described by others on the site. I will keep a careful eye on the messages and note any changes I experience and report back. Thanks for the website.

I've been taking Yasmin for about 3 months now. Initially, I experienced some of the mental effects I've read mentioned in here, but they have definitely evened out a lot. I do feel like its helped my skin a little bit, nothing drastic, but better than nothing. I think it's really important to give it a fair shot (at least through the first month). But I didn't experience any of the physical stuff mentioned, So I can't really comment on that. But overall,I've been happy with it.

I am an adult sufferer of mild acne, it was worse as a teen but thankfully it is a little better now as i reach my late 30's, it spreads off your face and to the jaw and neckline as you get older, so you can look forward to that. What I want to tell you is that I took Yasmin for a while and noticed no difference in my skin and started having heart palpatations on it. This can be very serious, if you have heart palpatations, let your doctor know immediately. Yasmin messes with your potasium which can give you heart symptoms so be careful with it. I use differen and BP now, acne is a little better than with nothing I suppose. Good luck folks.

Ladies,

Please be very careful and heed any warning that your body gives you if you are taking Yasmin!! 8 months ago I was hospitalized with major blood clots in my leg and uterus. My heart was also racing and I had a murmur. These are life threatening side effects that were a result of being on Yasmin for only 4 months.

My cousin started taking Yasmin only 3 months ago. She is also in the hospital with uterine clotting and a pulmonary embolism. I don't think this is a coincidence. If anyone has had a similar experience please contact me at [email address removed].

I used yasmin for a year, but had to quit for several reasons. As far as my acne, it was a great product. My skin looked terrific from the first month on it. But I had no sex drive at all, and vaginal dryness which caused painful sex (when I could muster the energy to even have sex with my poor hubby!). It was supposed to help my PMDD, but after a few months I was having food cravings, painful breasts, mood swings and intense anger during PMDD time.

Now I'm on micronor and my skin looks awful. My hubby had a vasectomy so I don't even need birth control, just clear skin!!!

I've been on Yasmin for about three weeks now.

Good Points: My skin looks great, I have lost weight.

Bad Points: Terrible mood swings, really sensitive about everything, anxiety attacks, rapid heartbeats, and my chest felt really tight and constricted and i felt like I was having trouble breathing, even though I wasnt. Feeling overwhelmingly sad and depressed.

I have also noticed muscle weakness, especially in my legs. My thigh muscles are always cramped after a couple of hours of sitting down.

Usually with other pills, I will have one or two side effects, and its usually putting on weight and/or bad skin. The mental side-effects are 10 times worse :(

I've been on Yasmin for several years. I switched to Yasmin after taking Diane-35. I found I experienced less side effects on Yasmin than Diane-35. I like both -- but I prefer Yasmin. Like Diane-35, Yasmin helped my skin stay clear. I have not experienced weight gain or bloating on Yasmin. Nor have I experienced depression or anxiety. The only negative I have to report is I developed bacterial vaginosis while on Yasmin and it would not go away. It cleared up temporarily with the use of antibiotics but always came back. I stopped taking Yasmin for 3 months and the BV went away on its own. I've started taking Yasmin again. If the BV comes back, I'll know what the culprit was.

Severe depression. Yeast infection. Uncontrollable crying fits. This is absolutely horribly. I'm only on day 10. I'm quitting now - not even finishing the pack.
