Pros: No mood swings Cons: Difficultly in remembering to take it Bottom Line: I used to use antibiotics when I had acne flare up and oxytetracycline used to work well but now I think I have become immune to it. I haven't had acne for many years but suddenly in the last few months I started to get so many spots on my forehead and right cheek. I went to the doctors and she suggested using Yasmin because antibitotics were not working anymore. I have used it for nearly a month and I haven't seen any improvements yet. I was just wondering how long I have to wait to see at least some kind of improvement. I really want my skin clear for summer because there is nothing worse than having to apply layers of makeup when it is hot. Recommended: Yes Usage: Ally has used this item for about a month. Pros: acne clearing up, no mood swings, no blood spotting between periods. Cons: Gained a bit of weight..... Bottom Line: I have been on Yasmin for a few months now and my skin has turned out really well. I only went on the pill to help regulate my period and it does a really good job at that plus it basically cut the days in half!! The only down side is I have noticed I have been gaining a bit of weight around the stomach area. Overall the pill has worked really well for me and the weight gain (while I'm not thrilled about) is something that I can deal with because the pros out weigh the cons!!! Pros: Not pregnant, no acne, predictable and lighter periods Cons: Noticeably less effective than Yaz, when it comes to mood swings and bloating/cramping Bottom Line: I was taking Yaz for a few months, and it was really awesome. Lighter periods, I was way less crabby, I even stopped taking Pamprin for the aches and pains! Unfortunately, my insurance got switched and only covered Yasmin, which I immediately noticed is a lot worse in the PMS department. I guess I skipped the whole "it gets worse before it gets better" acne stage, maybe because of the Yaz? I'm not sure. Yasmin works pretty well, but I'd have to say Yaz is definitely the better option. Recommended: Yes Usage: Reviewer has used this item for a few months. Pros: No babies, Cleared Acne, Helped with Mood Swings. Period lasts 4 day! Cons: Vaginal Infections before every period Bottom Line: THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE BIRTHCONTROL >>YAZ<< NOT YASMIN. I do love YAZ. It took my body about 3 months to get used to, which is normal for anyone starting birth control. I did have headaches the first few months I was on it but now they are few and only happen around my period. But unfortunately for me it gives me yeast infections but ppl aren't the same so it may not happen to you. YAZ has helped my acne very well but I also helped that out by using an exfoliate on my face everyday in the shower. I went to the doctor today and got her to switch my birth control and she recommended Ortho Tri Cyclen because that was what she was taking. So I will be switching from YAZ to Ortho Tri Cyclen only because on YAZ I had yeast infections. Overall I would recommend YAZ for acne and PMDD or severe mood swings and regulating periods. Pros: I didn't get pregnant.... Cons: anxiety, major wieght loss, acne Bottom Line: I never had anxiety or really moody periods until i started taking yas, it was getting so bad that i thought i would have to get on depression pills, also i never had an acne problem till i got on yas and my skin is horrible now...glad to say i'm off of it and feeling 20 times better. Pros: Cleared up acne! Cons: Chronic Yeast Infections? Bottom Line: I wanted to go on accutane for my cystic acne but in order to go on accutane I had to go on birth control, and I found that Yasmin cleared up my skin on it's own. Only downside is chronic yeast infections. I have been on Yasmin since November 2006 and lately in the last year I have had frequent yeast infections which don't seem to be cleared up with the Diflucan my gyno prescribes. Going to see Gyno again next week, hope I don't have to change birth control because Yasmin really seems to be the best to clear up acne (previously taken Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and Yas with positive results but no where as successful as Yasmin). Pros: less oily skin/acne Cons: Chest pains!, muscle spasms, headaches, have to pee alot (yasmin has a diruetic in it which makes you lose water), I think i got ever side effect other in the book and I on it for only 1 month!! Bottom Line: Hate this pill! I've been on BC in the past and never had so many side effects. Ended up in the ER 3 nights ago because of the chest pains. All tests were normal, but I'm still feeling it. NOT WORTH IT!!! Some people have no problems, but if you do a internet search on yasmin you'll find alot of negative comments... more than any other pill. I wish I had done my research before choosing this pill. Pros: cleared spots, no weight gain Cons: little bit low sex drive Bottom Line: was excellent went on it after dianette which was good but had to come off and yasmin did the job of keeping my skin clear. this pill also doesn't make me want to eat everything like other pills do which made me gain weight! Pros: Controlled breakouts, doesn't make me feel sick like dianette Cons: None! Bottom Line: i have had acne for about 2 years and it just kept getting worse, so my doctor finally prescribed me Dianette. After about a month of taking this i kept being sick all the time but i carried on taking it because i was so down about my skin. But after 4 months with no acne improvement whatsoever i went back to my doctor. She said dianette is a very very strong pill and shouldn't be taken for prolonged periods of time and this was what was making me feel ill! So she put me on yasmin and before i even finished my first pack i have no new painful lumps (i had cystic acne) and im not sick anymore! i would definitely recommend instead of dianette because it actually worked for me! Pros: cleared acne very well!! periods are very pradictable, bigger boobs Cons: slight headaches every now and then. Bottom Line: when i went to my doctor she told me of how great yasmin is and how it works like a charm for her acne, one thing she didnt mention is how my ance would be getting worse before it gets better. as i was just about to get off yasmin because of my ance getting worse on my face, neck and back. i googled yasmin and discovered the acne gets worse before it gets better. stick with it!! after the first two or three months i saw a drastic improvement!!!
