I was taking Yasmin for about a year and I am SO GLAD to be off of it! I didn't realize how severe my mood swings were!!! I was irritable all the time and would cry over the littlest thing. Sure, my period only lasted 3-4 days, but the cramps were so unbearable that it wasn't worth it. In my opinion, the side effects FAR outweighed the benefits of this pill. There are much better ones out there!

My friend and I both started Yasmin over a year ago, and we both had spotting for the whole first month, which, yes, did suck, but upon the beginning of the second packet, all spotting ceased and never returned, which is why I recommend not quitting due to side effects until you've tried it for at least a month or two so your body has a chance to adjust. It made my skin much clearer, and is my current form of acne control. Also, I find that I'm alot more emotional, and cry and get upset at the littlest things, which isn't to say I'm depressed, because I also get all emotional now when I'm happy too. If I'm feeling a bit depressed, I take some St Johns Wart and it evens out my emotions well enough. Yes, everyone knows the Pill is linked to depression, but Yasmin is said to greatly reduce the risk of most side effects including depression. So those of you who are on Yasmin and blaming it for every little thing that is wrong with them, take a minute and think, is this ALL becuase of Yasmin? Sure, chances are, it's contributing to some things, e.g. problems with mood or sex drive, but I know some people who have really blown things out of proportion (my nails are more brittle! my split ends are worse! and so on). And for those of you who claim to have gained weight because of Yasmin, a clinical study of the drug showed that women on average lost half a kilo over a period of a year. Now this is not to say that it will make you lose weight, but the statistics say it WILL NOT make you gain weight. So any of you who are naming Yasmin as the cause for your added cup sizes, chances are you were just still developing, good for you. And those of you who blame it for weight gain, you have only yourself to point that finger at. I know someone who said it made them gain ten kilos in a couple of months. Now that's just being melodramatic. That's impossible without consuming vast quantaties of calories.

Have chronic sore throat, burping for past 4 weeks, since i started on yasmin. Had a upper gi series xray done for acid reflux which came out to be normal. So looks like it is related to yasmin. Also have a bad sore gum.
Anyone of you experienced similar symptoms? I have started with 2nd pack of yasmin so i guess will have to complete that for next 2 weeks.

I am 25 and I just stopped taking Yasmin after being on it for 4 years. I quit 2 months ago due to concerns with increased heart disease/cancer risks (that under debate with medical professionals and already run in my family). I used to have horrible periods with extreme cramps, nausea, and dizzyness and my skin would breakout every couple weeks. Even though I had some initial weight gain on the pill, I felt great while taking it, my cycles were regular and my skin was immaculate! I had no dark spots or breakouts. For the first month being off the pill, my skin stayed clear and I thought I might be okay, but now it is worse than it was when I went on it. My face, neck and check have all broken out will whiteheads. At lease my periods so far have not been the torture they used to be. I would go back on Yasminin in a heartbeat if I could be sure that it wouldn't increase my risk of cancer or heart disease.

This birth control is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! I have had some bad experiences with others in the past but this stuff has changed my life for the worst! I have been having nightmares every night and because of them have developed insomnia. I also can only eat maybe once a day only by forcing myself to eat. My sex drive has completely diminshed its like i dont even care if my husband even looks at me anymore. I hate this stuff and hope anyone thinking about trying it will think different! All the side effects this pill brings are just not worth it! This pill has also caused panik attacks and is putting a huge strain on my marriage! DONT TAKE THIS!!!!

I am 23 and just recently stopped taking Yasmin after having been on it for 4 years. As far as my periods were concerned, it was excellent. The flow was much lighter, they lasted only about 4 days, and the cramps were greatly reduced. Also, I had hardly any acne while taking it and I went up a cup size.

As for the negatives, this pill made me feel sad and depressed all the time. I wasn't even aware of this until I stopped taking it. Now, my mood and outlook on life is so much better. Before, I had little energy and slept all the time. I would cry and get upset over the littlest things. At the time, I had no idea the pill was causing this. But looking back, I can think of no other explanation. I also was fatigued a lot while taking Yasmin. I have much more energy now, too, after stopping. However, I've started having acne again which is irritating. Would be a fantastic pill if not for the mood problems I had with it.

I just starting taking Yasmin a week ago. From day one it drastically changed my mood. I feel very irritable like anything can set me off. Also my face broke out terribly (I'm 35 years old and never had an acne problem). My boyfriend has asked me to stop taking this pill because he noticed the change since I began taking it. I want to give my body a chance to get used to it but I can't deal with these side effects.

SO glad i found this site! My doctor prescribed Yasmin 4 months ago for acne. Since, that time i have had a 10 pound wieght gain. The 2nd month (now this makes sense) i started to feel moodier than usual, sometimes panicky, though i attributed this to a location change.
My sex drive is gone. It's funny i joked to my pals that since moving to Seattle i have had no desire & am in my owm self-imposed nunnery.
Well, i am scared about what my face is going to do..my acne really has improved. Still, it is hard to ignore all of the side-effects that so many women around the world are bringing up.

My advice is be patient! It took almost exactly 3 months to work, but it was like a miracle. I've also tried Mircette in the past - it worked as well. I took a break from birth control for a while and my acne got way out of control. Dr. put me on Yasmin when I decided the break was over (if it would help my acne)! I think if you have a hormonal imbalance that is causing breakouts, almost any birth control will help. By the way, the reports about breast enlargement are true! Strange, but true (only with Yasmin!!).

I have been taking Yasmin for about two years... It was the first pill that I tried and I wanted to avoid the weight gain that other pills are so notorious for. It has worked well for me overall except that I have a much lower sex drive and my PMS is just horrible. I cry over nothing! I also realized that my blood pressure is higher that it should be and didn't know why. Perhaps it is Yasmin. I'm thinking about trying the Nuva ring but I dread a whole new set of side effects.
