Pros: Reduced ance, stopped the regular spotting, regular, lighter and less painful periods, no weight gain Cons: eat a little more (no weight gain) Bottom Line: Yasmin does since to work fine for me. I really wanted to use microgynon instead but doc prescribed yaz to deal with my symptoms (which it did deal with). Now i am living happy and free. I must say it is very expensive. Pros: No weight gain, no decreased libido Cons: Cystic acne (the most painful kind!), Nausea Bottom Line: I have used this for almost a year. This did help clear up my acne somewhat but the acne I do have is now cystic and takes a long time to go away. I noticed that it really flares up before my cycle. I found that the first 3-4 months of taking the pill I was nauseated a few hours after taking it. I am switching back to kariva which I find to be much better for me. I think everyone has different issues with their hormones and just b/c something doesn't work for one person doesn't mean it won't work for you. I started taking this b/c a dermatologist recommended it. Recommended: No Usage: ahickman has used this item for a few months. Pros: Clear skin, slows facial/body hair growth, regular periods Cons: mood swings, weight gain (20lbs), raised blood pressure Bottom Line: I started taking Yaz to treat PCOS symptoms. I use it to treat facial/body hair issues, diffuse scalp hair thinning, acne, and mood issues related to PCOS. I started with Ortho and gained 10lbs in 2wks. Doc switched me to Yaz, telling me it won't cause more weight gain. He was wrong 10 MORE pounds later, I'm miserable. My skin is clear but my scalp hair is still thin and coming out by the handful. My moods are stable half the month, the other half of the month is scary. My blood pressure went up on Yaz and I'm now officially pre-hypertensive. I'm making an appt to ask Doc if I can forget the Yaz and just stick to Metformin for my PCOS. Recommended: No Usage: Reviewer has used this item for about a year. Pros: There are none. Cons: increase in acne, extreme nausea, anxiety/depression, mental fog, fatigue, loss of appetite, loss of energy, inability to exercise, headaches Bottom Line: DO NOT TAKE YASMIN, PLEASE!! After one week my face broke out in a rash, I was having extreme panic/anxiety attacks, depressed outlook, felt as if I was in a complete fog, had no appetite, stomach upset began in AM and continued throughout the day, could not exercise (and I am an avid exerciser), had no energy--just an awful pill. Pros: Clearer skin,boobies, no babies! Cons: headache, spot bleeding, preferable after sex or more like alot of bleeding.....yes thats always nice to see!! freakin sux Bottom Line: its good so far only been using it for a week 1/2 nothing bad yet, only the bleeding part but hopefuly that will go away Recommended: Yes Usage: elocea has used this item for about a week. Pros: Helped with acne, did not cause weight gain, made boobs grow a cup size Cons: Prolonged breakthrough bleeding, horrible cramps Bottom Line: I was on this birth control for almost for months. By the end of three months, i had horrible breakthrough bleeding for over a week, painful cramps, and bloating. I switched over to tri cyclen and break through bleeding, cramps, and bloating has complety gone away. I would highly not recomend Yasmin. Pros: I have been using Yasmin for 4 days and so far my skin seems a little less oily than normal. Cons: None so far. Bottom Line: I was on Spironolactone for 6 months and loved it. I developed a severe skin rash on my arms and legs after being on Spiro for 6 months. I am not sure if the drug caused the reaction but I have been off of it for 3 weeks and my rash has gone away. I am scared to ever go back on Spiro so I am trying Yasmin. When researching Spiro I found several studies that said that it caused tumors in rats!! Scary!! I will update this review after I have been on Yasmin for a month. Recommended: Yes Usage: Stephanie95 has used this item for about a week. Pros: It's keeping me from getting pregnant and I have light periods. Cons: I have been getting headaches and I have horrible acne. Bottom Line: I'm going to stay on this for another month to see if my acne gets better. I've heard that it gets worse before it gets better...we'll see. Pros: clears my hormonal acne (cystic and non cystic) bigger breasts Cons: constantly SPOTTING! I spot like 3 weeks out of the month and just when it stops I start my period. makes my stomach VERY upset once a month Bottom Line: It's VERY expensive without insurance but besides that and the stomach pains and spotting, it really clears up my face!
