Pros Helps clear acne
Less cramps
Cons Low mood for first 2 months just before period
BAD outbreak of spots for first 3 packs
Tender breasts
Bleeding during first pack
Bottom line I had been on Yasmin before and had forgotten about the bad initial outbreak of spots i got- huge cystic ones along the jaw but this time i had them over my forehead as well, somewhere i never normally get them. I'd just get rid of one then overnight a humongous would appear and stay with me for weeks!! This all started after about my 3rd pill and carried on for 2-3 packs. They seemed to take forever to go down and have left me with some scars but after 4 months my skin has improved quite a lot, with much fewer cystic spots and now just the odd small one.

I did bleed for the first pack and my breasts were very tender, plus and i really did notice my mood was quite low just before my period. Thankfully all of this has settled now.

I must admit, looking back at how my spots were before taking Yasmin and how bad the initial outbreak was i do wonder if it was worth it but i does help eventually. You really need to give it at least 4 months to notice an improvement- don't give up before then!

Pros No Pregnancies
Cons Takes quite a few months to notice difference with acne
Bottom line I took Yasmin for over a year, maybe even more. I cannot remember exactly because it was so long ago and I have used several other birth control pills since then. What I do remember is how bad my acne was for the first several months but then evened out - you have to be patient.

Pros - It did its job. Taken it for about a year and haven't gotten pregnant.
Cons - No sex drive.
- Weight gain (about 20 lbs).
- Tender breasts.
- Always tired.
- Digestive problems.
- More acne.
Bottom line I decided today that I'm going to stop taking Yasmin. I've been taking it for about a year and at first I didn't really notice any kind of side effects. The only thing was a bit of nausea for the first few days of active pills. But now that I look back over how my body has changed in the past year, I hate it. I feel disgusting and tired almost all the time. And I've heard people say that people who gain weight when they're on the pill... That it's not actually the pill, it's the people taking it. But I tell you, if anything I've been eating better and getting more physical activity in the past year than I have since high school. And yeah, I didn't get pregnant, but I also never feel like having sex, which is definitely something new. Also, I never really had acne. But now it's bothersome and I feel like I should wash my face 3-4 times a day.

Pros Helps with acne
Cons I hate having a period every month and I don't think it helps with my monthly flare up acne. I think it makes me more tired around my time of the month too.
Bottom line I switched from BC that was making me break out really bad to this. So no matter how weird I feel a few days a month, it is worth it to be acne free most of the month.

Pros -doesn't make acne worse
-giant boobs
-no babies
-light periods
-no menstrual cramps
-doesn't make me a psycho
-FREE (cheers NHS)
Cons -hasn't cleared acne (so far)
-my giant boobs ache
Bottom line I was recommended by the doctors that I should run the first three packs together for maximum acne beating effectiveness. Which I did and I fully enjoyed not having a period for three months. When I did, it was light and painless (I previously had the IUD which made me feel like I was dying once a month)

My boobs are suddenly huge. My boyfriend can't get over it (I wish he would, they are very tender - leave them alone!)

My acne is subsiding although I think this is due to switching regimens.

SO! I recommend yasmin as a birth control that won't GIVE you acne (microgynon gave me horrendous acne) and won't make you an emotional wreck (dianette made me feel a bit murdery)

Pros beautiful clear skin
Balanced hormones (balanced emotions)
Did i mention clear skin?!!
Cons Having to remember to take a pill everyday
and if i miss it ill breakout and be emotional.
Its not cheap without insurance.
Bottom line My skin is perfect aside from a little hyper pigmentation and scarring. I don't even have to wash it. I get maybe 1-3 pimples around my period but that's it.
My acne is obviously completely a hormonal issue. This works for me, but may not work for you.
