Pros lost a bit of weight
skin is clearing up after getting worse initially
shorter period
Cons initial breakout
must be patient to see results
Bottom line yasmin is proven to be a great BCP for acne. Over 9 cycles it has been shown to be just as good as diane but it is much healthier for you and you can be on it forever, it is for the treatment of MODERATE acne not mild or severe. If you switch from another BCP to yasmin it is very likely your skin will flare up the first month or two while your body adjusts to the new hormones. It has been proven to work IF you give it time to and of course if hormones are the root of your acne problem. if something else causes your acne you may not see significant improvement. If you get on it be ready to commit to letting it work. too there are far too many reviews on this site saying it made acne worse after they have only been using it a month or 2. you must be patient!

Pros clear skin, no excess body/facial hair, thicker hair on my head, stabilized mood
Cons when i went off all the pros are reversed.
Bottom line i had acne everywhere, then went on yasmin and my skin cleared up to the point that i rarely ever even had the slightest imperfection on my face and i was only using cetaphil cleanser each night and water in the morning. When i went off it my hair started falling out in clumps (thank god i have a very very full head of hair), it did start growing back after a month or so... the worst part about going off the pill is that my skin has completely broken out and looks almost as bad as it did pre-yasmin. :(

Pros controlling birth
Cons I went on this bc to get a hold of my acne problem, I usually have a really bad breakout the week before my time of the month....instead it flared up my skin like never before. It was horrible! Don't go on this if you like having clear skin.

Pros Reliable birth control, increased bust size, no noticeable weight gain, no mood changes, no loss of sex drive
Cons Nausea, IBS/lactose intolerance, acne, increased urgency to urinate and urinary incontinence, increased rate of UTIs
Bottom line I have tried several forms of birth control: Tri Cyclen Lo (gave me the worst acne ever), Desogen (perfect skin but insomnia), and Nuvaring (great for 2 years, then sudden acne). I took a year's break and then decided to try Yasmin.

For the first 2 mos, I experienced some moderate acne. About 6 months in, I became lactose intolerant. I have eaten dairy products daily my entire life with no problem until Yasmin. I also started to get nausea every day, usu. in the morning.

I have been sexually active for 6 yrs, and I had 1 UTI in the time before Yasmin, but in the 8 mos I've used this pill, I've probably had 10 UTIs. When I don't have one, going to bathroom is very urgent. My acne is back and worse than it was the first month of Yasmin, mostly on my forehead and chin/jawline.

I have started to get chest pains, and I've decided it's no longer worth it to deal with the side effects. I'm going to try to switch to Dianette or maybe back to Desogen after finishing this pack.

Pros Typical birth control pros, Helpful for those with PCOS
Cons Acne has never been a problem for me, but after taking this pill, i have HORRIBLE acne! I couldn't believe it, I thought it would help my skin rather than hurt it.. I now have large hard pimples on my jaw line and chin!
Bottom line I'm not certain if this will go away after a while. I have only taken it for a short time, so I am hoping things will change, but this acne has gotta go! - However thanks to great health care the price is cheap, and the active ingredients make this great for those with pcos.

Pros no weight gain (other than chest, thats not a bad thing for me...)
very cheap because i have a great medical plan
less red/oily skin.
Cons i have a large breakout at the moment, but i think this is because my skin has to get worse before it gets better! Im confident that it will get clear soon.
I had slight nausea for a few hours after taking it.
Bottom line i trust the product, even though it hasnt quite worked as well as i'd like it to. (ive only been on it for 3 weeks though) but its made my skin less red/oily so thats a start.

Pros No weight gain, no bloating, effective birth control, clearer skin.
Bottom line I was on diane 35 first when my doctor switched me to yasmin saying it would do about the same thing for my skin. In Canada yasmin is fairly cheap around $10-12 before your pharmacy fee, so the price is definatly right. After switching i noticed no major side effects and my acne didn't get worse as i was scared it would have. It's been about a year now that i have been taking yasmin, and with the recent scare over yasmins side effects it's important you don't smoke, you eat well and stay fit while on this pill. i would say my skin isn't 100% clear, i still get a little whitehead here and there but nothing really noticable(i used to have grade 4 acne), so i'm definatly happy with yasmin.
