| Pros | Clear skin No Cramps Lighter Period |
|---|---|
| Cons | Tender Breasts 5-10lb weight gain |
| Bottom line | I have been on this pill for 4 years, and I have had no problems at all with it. I used to have really bad acne til I started using Yasmin. About a month after I started to take it my acne cleared up. Now I have little or none at all! Have not had any problems with anything else. I live in Canada and I pay full price here for it and it really isn't that bad of a price. |

| Pros | After 6 months of use no breakouts what so ever. |
|---|---|
| Cons | If you quit you acne comes back stronger. |
| Bottom line | This product was wonderful when I used it, but when I stopped thats when my problems started. My acne came back stronger when I quit. Dont go this route, I urge you to try natural and organic products before you try and thing like birth control or accutane. The key to clear skin is moisturized skin even if you have oily skin. |

| Pros | -After IB, kept my skin clear -Worry free for the year the I was on it -Rarely needed foundation -Consistent period -Bigger boobs -No bacne -no cystic acne |
|---|---|
| Cons | -Initial breakout lasts about 3 months -Hair loss -Gained 5-10 pounds -Expensive if you have no insurance (70ish at walmart) -still had annoying tiny bumps on forehead -My doctor thought the Yasmin may have been linked to why I had been sick so often |
| Bottom line | I really loved how clear my skin was while i was taking Yasmin! I never thought about cysts, although I did still get the little bumps on my forehead, which I should have got a cream to take care of. My bacne was gone; for the first time in my life i could wear swimming suits without being self conscious. Also, my boobs were quite big on Yasmin. I ran out of Yasmin and 6 months after discontinued use, everything went back to normal. I lost the 5-10 pounds of weight, my bacne started to appear, and acne started creeping all over my face. It's almost been a year off the Yasmin, and my face is pretty bad... Why do I not go back on it? Well the other thing that returned back to normal is my hair stopped falling out. My hair used to fall out like crazy! I would sob about it. Six months off yasmin and that changed. I am currently trying retina a and duac. I may try another BC again. Bottom line is, if you don't get the hair loss side effect, I recommend Yasmin. |

| Pros | Helps with irregular periods |
|---|---|
| Cons | headaches, nausea, stomachaches, dizziness, faintness, lack of energy, increased difficulty waking up, |
| Bottom line | I went on Yasmin for reasons unrelated to acne, yet I had begun to break out before taking it anyway. I was hoping that the Yasmin would help clear up my skin, yet I was sorely disappointed! Not only did I see NO change in my acne, I actually missed school for two weeks because I thought that I was sick. I would go to sleep at 10pm and wake up at noon the next day with HORRIBLE headaches and nausea. I was terrified that I was going to throw up and would get dizzy and faint every time I got out of bed and tried to take a few steps. It took me four weeks (2 of which I stayed home from school) to figure out that Yasmin was what was causing these problems. I abruptly quit taking the medicine, and encountered the worst breakout I've had since I was 12 or 13 (I'm 17 now). My skin is STILL suffering 5 months later and I cannot find anything to cure it! |

| Pros | - Stabilized acne (slowly getting clear) - No more cystic acne or painful pimples (!) - My hair is not oily anymore - Less noticeable facial hair - Fast results |
|---|---|
| Cons | - Occasional digestive problems (slight constipation). - Lowers water retention, so I have to drink and pee more often than normal. - Occasional fatigue in the afternoon after lunch (bothersome as a student!) - My breasts are slightly bigger but harder to the touch, and this can sometimes be painful. (I can't comment about my sex-drive because I've never had one anyway, and I can't comment about weight gain either because I don't usually keep track of it, sorry!). |
| Bottom line | About a year ago I had a sudden outbreak of acne on my face. Unlike most people, I had never experienced serious acne during my teenage years (I'm 23), so it was really a shock for me. My left cheek was covered with spots, cysts and scars (on which new spots always developped, leaving more scars); and I had frequent outbreaks of painful cysts on my jawline, my hairline and my brow. My acne was getting from bad to worse over time no matter what I did, and in time it spread to my chest, my arms and my back. To make things worse, I realized a month ago that I was starting to grow facial hair. It had reached the point where I didn't want to go out anymore unless I really needed to, and staring at my face in the mirror every morning had become a challenge. I usually don't consider myself unattractive, but my self-confidence had never been so low. I went to see my dermatologist who told me that I had hyper-androginy and that I should try taking Yasmin. He promised me it would clear my acne in 3-6 months, get rid of my facial hair, and stop my hair from getting oily so quickly; but that I wouldn't gain weight from it. The results were not really noticeable until 2 weeks into the treatment. I'll be reaching the end of my first tablet tomorrow and my acne appears to be stabilized. I still get occasional pimples, but they are so tiny you can barely see them from afar. Now that my acne is stabilizing, my scars are starting to heal; and I'm slowly rebuilding my confidence. My hair is also much less oily (I can stay for 5 days without needing to wash them, unlike 2-3 days before). My facial hair is still there, but it's much less noticeable. After reading other reviews and hearing horror cases, I consider myself lucky that I saw results so fast with no serious side-effects from taking Yasmin. I'm also glad this pill is available for free in the UK. I'll knock on wood and hope it will stay this effective until the end of my prescription!! |

| Pros | -Haven't gained any weight so far |
|---|---|
| Cons | -Horrible break out all over cheeks and jawline -Extremely tired (HAVE to nap about 3 hours after taking the pill) |
| Bottom line | This is my first month taking Yasmin. I'm on my third week. I was on Reclipsin for a year, but started experiencing horrible nausea so decided to switch. I was then on TriSprintec for a year, and started experiencing major hair loss, so I decided to switch again. I went on Yasmin because it is a name-brand birth control that is supposed to help with acne. Right now I guess I'm experiencing the initial break out but I hope it doesn't last much longer. I'm very, very, very, fair skinned so any kind of acne lesion leaves a red suface scar on my face for weeks (So right now without makeup I have red marks all over my skin). I've never broken out so heavily on my cheeks before in my entire life. I'm going to give Yasmin a minimum of 3 months, so I'll try to update with my progress (hopefully progress) soon. Also, I used [link removed] to order my Yasmin. I couldn't afford it otherwise. It comes out to 18.67 a pack, and instead of 75 that's a good amount of savings. You do have to fax an ID and prescription, and the shipping takes a long time (like a week and a half) so you would need to order it accordingly. It looks exactly like my roommates, so it's legit, too. I'm giving it a rating of '2' for right now because I only recently started it. |

| Pros | Clear skin |
|---|---|
| Cons | Headaches, made me depressed, and really dries the skin especially the lips. |
| Bottom line | I have had acne for about 12 years now. My acne has ranged from moderate to severe flare-ups throughout. Having tried so many types of topical treatments (including bp), skin peels and antibiotics with temporary successes here and there, i finally decided to try the pill. i was put on diannette, which cleared my skin up completely but the dr said i couldnt take it for more than the 1.5 yrs i had been using it. so he switched me to yasmin. it maintained my clear skin. however instantly i noticed that my skin became a lot drier. my lips began to take on this horrible grainy texture. i also lost a lot of weight but i think that was mostly because the pill wouldnt allow my body to retain water. i also suffered a huge amount of hair loss (about two-thirds) and felt depressed a lot of the time. after about 9 months into it, i made the decision to STOP cold turkey as i no longer wanted to pump my body full of unnatural chemicals. it's now almost been 3 months. post-pill side effects so far have been really oily skin and hair! if i touched my face with my hands, i seriously had enough oil on them to give myself a good moisturising! also my hair was dripping with oil by the end of the day - pre-pill my hair could go 2 days without washing!! i also started to get painful red bumps around my mouth/chin area and a lot of white heads - the dreaded post-pill break out!! i've been quite lucky with my periods returning, although others havent been so lucky. my moods are back to normal and i am so relaxed lol. so anyway now im taking 75mg of zinc gluconate and 3000mg of EPO every day - which seems to be working quite well (but will save that for another post)! Natural is the best way forward. Clear skin is not worth the damage that this pill will cause to your body!! |

| Pros | No mood swings Cheap if covered by insurance/university health plan No pregnancy |
|---|---|
| Bottom line | All birthcontrols will have some effects on people, I went from Alessa, to Linessa, to that one that you take three months dose at a time and only Yasmin hasn't given me mood swings. Also, the weight thing is totally a mental thing, I haven't had any weight issues with Yasmin. Do note that going off BCP is likely to cause breakouts, I know it did for me :( |

| Pros | No pregnancy, cleared acne completely, much easier periods. Increased about half a cup size. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Horrible mood swings. Like you're going through puberty again. Increased appetite during first two months. Fatigue for the first week after placebo still. Sore breasts for three months. Gained 10lbs. Headaches during the first week after placebos. |
| Bottom line | I have been on this pill for half a year. I haven't tried any other contraceptive, and I really don't plan on changing any time soon. I personally had a hard time getting use to it for the first month or so. My mood swings were completely ridiculous. Angry, crying, stuff like that. It seems like the first week off the placebo is the worst. I still get some mood swings, and around 2 PM every day for the first week, I get very fatigued to the point where I cannot function unless I nap. For a few months, I had an increase in appetite, which at first I thought was why I gained 10 pounds. I have a regular appetite now, but my weight has not budged, despite losing a pant size. Not sure where this weight is, but it's worth mentioning if you care of scales. My mom suggested water weight, so maybe this pill increases the water you keep on. I also still get headaches during the first week after placebos, and it is irritating, but it's not bad. Just distracting sometimes. I do tend to have low libido during the first week, occasionally. It's only once every other time, nothing bad. Anyway, stick it out for at least 3 months. I am very happy with this pill, as the main reason was birth control and reduce menstrual symptoms. I haven't had any cramps AT ALL since the day I started these pills, and I love it! And the flow is very low. No bloating. There's more cons than pros, but trust me the pros definitely are worth it. |
