| Pros | -eventually cleared up acne (for the most part) -regulated periods -regulated hormones -alleviated some depression (also began zoloft at the same time, so I am not sure). |
|---|---|
| Cons | -took a few months to work -first month=terrible initial breakout -nausea at beginning of every active pill pack - I still get some zits (but that's not uncommon for someone my age) |
| Bottom line | I began the generic form of Yasmin (Ocella) in February, and experienced a very unsightly initial breakout. My acne had been flaring up since Christmas, which before that it had been good for a few months. Being a small girl I believe this had to do with the fact that I fall in and out of puberty, and around Christmas I got my period again for the first time in about six months. (I'm guessing my skin cleared up because my hormones were at prepubescent levels). Regardless, Ocella began working after the month-long initial breakout ceased. I have been fairly clear since April I would say, with some light markings (I have very easily marked skin) until about July. I currently have two pimples on my chin, and a few tiny bumps on my face (totally not noticeable to anyone but me :p). I can't expect perfection, as I am sixteen and a few pimples are expected, but I am much much happier. It is difficult to say whether this will work for you, as everyone is different. Give it a try, though, and allow it at the very least, three months to work. (You should really be patient and wait six). I shall re-review this in a year to update on any progress. |

| Pros | - good birth control - thickened hair (also could be a con) - regulated period - short period - minimal cramps - lost weight |
|---|---|
| Cons | - small pimples all over chin and jawline which i've never had before - cysts on forehead - moody/depressed - anxious/insomnia - tired - frequent UTI's and yeast infections |
| Bottom line | I went on this pill for 2 months last year and thought it would eliminate my hormonal acne, but it didn't. So i went off it and then tried OTC-Lo which gave me terrible acne outbreaks. I decided to give this one a chance again and I totally regret it. I've been in it for 3 months and my skin is progressively getting worse, not better the way some people have said it would after a few months of perseverance. I've never struggled with skin issues like this, I would usually only get one cyst right before my period and then it would go away or the occasional pimple from leaving my makeup on at night. Since I've been on this pill my skin is a nightmare, I never see a clear day except during my period when I stop the pill and by the end of the week my skin is virtually back to normal. I suppose my acne condition is not caused by excess androgen's and therefore this pill is causing breakouts rather than curing them. Other than the breakouts I cannot handle the frequent UTI's and depression associated with this pill. All around this pill is a disaster. I just stopped taking it 3 days ago and I can see my pore size shrinking and my skin feels much less oily. However, be cautioned that your skin will breakout when you stop this pill...all the tiny pimples I had on my chin have started to come to the surface but died down and are drying out after doing an egg white mask. In conclusion, I'd rather endure one zit a month than this any day. |

| Pros | Lost weight, regulated my period--never late! |
|---|---|
| Cons | Acne, cysts, hyperpigmentation, white heads--can't get rid of them! |
| Bottom line | I started yasmin because my gyn recommended it for women with pcos. I was abroad for a few years and took pills like Marvelon 21 and Tridiol--loved both of them but they are not offered here in the U.S. The first month on Yasmin, I noticed a few pimples on my face but nothing too serious. After a couple of months I started to develop serious cystic acne that would not go away--not even with chemical peels, organic products, good diet etc.My skin has not been clear in 7 months since I started the pill. I have a weird combination of acne and dehydrated/lackluster skin, no matter what moisturizers or eye creams I use! Also, I noticed a lack in energy and enthusiasm in things I normally looked forward too. I felt my emotions were becoming really unstable---Honestly, this pill made me feel like I was bi-polar..up and happy one moment and down and depressed (even angry) at the next turn. (I'm talking about crying at memories, simple arguments with loved ones, feeling overwhelmed at daily work routines etc.) I'm getting off of it this month and giving another pill a try. I would have gotten off of it earlier but I was advised to give it at least 6 months. My doctor said she was really surprised to hear I didn't do well on it because she claimed most of her patients do well on this pill. It's good to see by reading this board that I'm not alone! |

| Pros | amazing boobs |
|---|---|
| Cons | horrible mood swings felt absolutely exhausted all the time THE WORST ACNE BREAKOUT I EVER HAD no sex drive at all |
| Bottom line | this is the first time i ever review anything but i really had to this time. this pill should be put off the market. i started taking it after my doctor really recommended this pill. i did read the reviews here but i was thinking, each body reacts differently but i never expected such a dramatic change in my personallity, skin, basically everything. and i have tried different pills in the past that never caused such a dramatic reaction. a week into my second pack i got two huuuuuuge cysts on the side of my face on my cheek, that are still healing 6 months on. yes, my skin didn't break out after this and i knew that if i countinued i'd be completely clear, but then i knew that my balance would never get back to normal if would want to quit because this pill changed everything, my breasts, my period, my moods (never felt so depressed and for no reason at all). so after the third pack i quit and got another huuuge breakout that i was prepared for and waited for this to heal and now i'm back to myself. NEVER AGAIN! girls, even if this pill works for you perfectly, think of the futurre and the consequences of quitting it. |

| Pros | -prevents pregnancy -no decreased sex drive (still horny as ever =P) -no hair loss -no weight gain -no mood swings |
|---|---|
| Cons | -didn't have the benefits I wanted (pornstar boobs) |
| Bottom line | I'm currently on the 1st pack, 4th week awaiting for my 'period'. So far haven't had any of the over-exaggerated side-effects. I wanted clearer skin, but its about the same as before but I will wait another 3 more months to see improvement. No nausea at all, I'm still horny as ever (lol). No mood swings, no weight gain, no fatigue or dizziness. I think those are all in the mind aka: placebo effect. Bottom line: I'd say this a safe pill to go on, if you don't want to experience side effects :) |

| Pros | Nothing |
|---|---|
| Cons | Caused severe acne Extreme tiredness Very emotional Mood swings |
| Bottom line | I had mild acne and six weeks after starting Yasmin I have 47 spots all over my face (Yes I just counted them and can't quite believe it myself)! They aren't all small whiteheads either, I have 13 large red swollen painful lumps. I have been very emotional, crying every 5 minutes and I never cry. Mood swings have made me very irritable and angry at everyone in my life. Extreme tiredness, I have been coming home from work and going straight to bed and today I have had to call in sick. Not good for relationships, self-esteem and skin!!! I have stopped taking them in the middle of the second pack in the hope to sort out my emotions, skin and tiredness. |

| Pros | fewer breakouts |
|---|---|
| Cons | decreased libido weight gain (5lbs at most) |
| Bottom line | I was on Yasmin from the age of 15-19 and i used it very consistently. I had very minor side effects and i had no breakouts from it. I cant say it cleared the acne i had because before i went on it i would get a zit here or there but nothing too extreme. About 18 months ago i switched to the generic version which was ocella. My skin began to breakout out like crazy. I stayed on Ocella for about 3 months and decided to quit BC all together. Thats when my very light amount of acne turned between moderate and moderatley severe. My acne was worse then before i even started the pill. I assumed my hormones were outta wack so i waited for my body to ajust. Its been a year later and while my skin has calmed a little its still not back to the way it used to be. The reason i dont recommend yasmin is bcuz while i dont believe its a horrible pill like others( i had an ok time on it) its the fact of how messed up i was when i discontinued it. Hope my review helped :) |

| Pros | Works! Shorter, lighter periods. No weight gain. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Expensive! Insurance only covers a little bit of the cost. Only works to get rid of cysts. |
| Bottom line | This is the only product ever that consistently keeps my face clear. I stopped taking it for almost a year due to the high cost...it was bad. I couldn't find anything else, even rx, to clear my face. I am finally just biting the bullet and paying for it because I can count on it! If you can, get this product, it really works. |

| Pros | Regular periods, good birth control, noticeably larger breasts, 95% clear skin |
|---|---|
| Cons | Truthfully, I didn't really experience any so far |
| Bottom line | I have been battling acne since I was around 16 years old and I am now 23. Last September, I began grad school and experienced the worst acne I've had to date. I had cystic breakouts along my jawline and my chin that were so painful I couldn't sleep on my side because the pressure was so painful. I went to the doctors and was prescribed Yasmin as well as miocycline at the same time because my face was so severe. 8 months later I can finally say that my face is nearly clear except for the scarring that the cysts left on my face. My confidence level is very high and I feel like a completely different person! I no longer lock myself in my room crying because of the physical and emotional pain. And most importantly I am not embarrassed to be around my family who used to tell me to wash my face properly (which I always did!). I am not longer taking minocycline and will continue with Yasmin as long as I am happy with the results. If you are at rock bottom like I was, I think it is worth a try... it worked for me but everyone responds to treatments differently and you may have a better or worse experience. I was so desperate that I had nothing to lose and it was all worth it to me because I am confident now. |
