| Pros | CHEAP! You can find at any drug store. Gentle. Doesn't sting. Big bottle goes a long way. |
|---|---|
| Cons | The smell is weird during the 1st few seconds of applying then it fades and is withstand able. I don't know if the Dickinson's brand smells weird or not. |
| Bottom line | I attached some links of photos of my face without makeup. They were taken on November 26, 2007.I started seeing results after a week and for sure after 2 weeks.I attached a photo taken almost exactly a month later around Christmas 2007.I have makeup on but you can tell the different of the texture of my skin. Now its the end of March 2008 and my skin is almost completely acne free.My scars are slowly fading or almost gone.I have deep ones which will probably take a while to fade out because I popped them.I have tried nearly EVERYTHING except for prescribed acne medication.Witch Hazel was my last hope before contacting a dermatologist.I saw some guy's video on You Tube and he showed his before and after photos as well. Then looked at some reviews on it at Acne.org. BEFORE: (this is how much acne my entire face had) [link removed]> AFTER: [link removed] |

| Pros | Cheap, Found in most stores, Sold in large bottles, All natural |
|---|---|
| Cons | Has a funny smell-but this goes completely away as it dries |
| Bottom line | I found out about Witch Hazel on this site and decided to give it a try. Using it as my toner my skin feels very clean and I've noticed a slight improvement(a bit more of a 'glow')to my skin. This has not helped my acne, but I'm happy with what it has done on my blackheads. They appear a bit smaller and less noticeable. I use T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel which I found at Wal-Mart. |

| Pros | Good antiseptic, helps reduce oil and dries up spots slightly |
|---|---|
| Cons | Doesn't really reduce acne |
| Bottom line | This works well to dry up oily areas on the skin and can dry up spots a little. However as an acne treatment, for me this had little effect |

| Pros | Works - for me anyway Doesn't over dry Cheap |
|---|---|
| Cons | Using cotton pads to apply |
| Bottom line | I've used witch hazel for probably the better part of 15 years (off/on) and I always enjoyed the way it made my skin feel. Would have to agree on using the Dickinson's brand. Tried some generics and they didn't seem to work the same. I actually enjoy the smell. Bottom line : works wonders for me - for a few bucks I'd definitely say "give it a try" |

| Pros | Doesn't dry out my skin! Very gentle and works great! |
|---|---|
| Cons | none |
| Bottom line | Very cheap and effective product. T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel is much better than the generic brands (believe it or not). I had been using Hannaford's brand with no good results then I bought Dickinson's which has an amazingly different effect on my face. Makes my face actually look 'dewy' and moisturized not dried out. I am very happy with this!!! |

| Pros | Doesn't leave stickiness some toners do, doesnt make skin feel tight, gentle, nice clean feel, cheap. |
|---|---|
| Cons | none |
| Bottom line | I love this stuff. Ive always hated using toners because of how they feel, some are better than others of course but I love this stuff. Its nice and gentle which is a great, refreshing step inbetween the cleanser and the bp. |

| Pros | None for me |
|---|---|
| Cons | I've used this product off and on for years and it's never worked. I know it works for some people, just not for me. |
| Bottom line | Try it out, it may work for you. Most of the acne remedies are hit and miss, eventually one will work for you (I know, that totally sucks). |

| Pros | Non drying. No fragrance. |
|---|---|
| Cons | None |
| Bottom line | I have used this for many years. Works much better on my oily skin than alcohol based toners/astringents, which dry skin out and trick it into thinking that it needs to produce more oil. I use only at night to remove makeup residue left after washing. |

| Pros | It's Cheap and you can use it to make Aspirin toner (see aspirin mask) It takes away dirt almost as well as isopropyl alcohol. |
|---|---|
| Cons | It smells. If you've ever had a "tequila episode" the smell might remind you of the tequila episode. At least it did me. That's why I add a drop of lavender per oz of Witch Hazel, ya know to take the edge off. LOL |
| Bottom line | it's an awesome base for making Aspirin Toner. (see aspirin mask) I like to in the summer time add aspirin and a few other things to my witch hazel to reduce oil production. But it's Great By it's self Here's my Aspirin Toner Recipe. All of the items listed below are per 1oz of Witch Hazel. 1 aspirin 1 drop of tea tree oil 1 tbs of Isopropyl alcohol 1 drop of lavender (lavender has antiseptic properties and helps heal scars) In the winter I eliminate the Tea Tree oil b/c it's far too drying for my skin...... Ultimately most of the toner is witch hazel wich really get's the job done. For those of you out there that are curious, the above has done WONDERS for my skin. Note the price listed below is by month. B/c initially all the stuff above is expensive but it lasts forever. |
