I have been using Vitamin B5(Patothenic Acid) for two months now. Let me tell you, IT WORKS!!! I was always jealous of people that have clear skin, that I wish I was like them. People here in the Philippines takes care of their skin. That is why most of the people have clear flawless skin. I did everything to clear up my face and nothing works! I used to have pimples, whiteheads, and HUGE acne on the jaw line, cheeks, forehead, and neck. I really had oily skin and my skin was very sensitive to cleansers. I thought I had no hope at all and my self esteem went really low. It was horrible and I didn't even want to go out unless my face was totally cleared up.
So, I started taking Vitamin B5 1000mg in the morning and another 1000mg before going to bed. That's it!! I had no side effects at all, but only clear, soft, flawless skin after one month. Now, I go out every Saturday with my friends and all I hear is compliments from them and other people. That my face looks softer and flawless than the guys and girls that wears make up.=D Thanks to Vitamin B5!

I'm currently on my 5th day of taking Vitamin B5. I started with 3 grams on the first day and have steadily increased to 5g. Right now, I am taking 6 grams and trying to build to 10. So far I have noticed a slight improvement in oilyness and my skin has always been EXTREMELY oily and highly prone to breakouts. I've tried many things like proactiv (works), murad (doesnt work).. just topical crap and even had some prescribed derm topical treatments and washes. They all work to treat the effects of acne, and its no where close to as severe, but the oilyness of my skin never ever went away and I always get small breakouts.... so I know it has to be an internal problem. Diet related or whatnot. Hopefully B5 is the answer... I will followup post in 3 weeks - 1 month.

Hi! Ive been taking 10 B5 (500mg) tablets every day for the last 2 months and i can honestly say its a miracle! My skin gradually got better and better and has now been totally clear for 3 weeks. Its also much less oily than it used to be. My skin used to be REALLY oily and id get 2 or 3 new spots per day, which i know maybe doesnt sound like much but each one was HUGE, more like a cyst than a spot and would last over a week and was so painful i couldnt touch my face. I know people are worried about trying it because they're worried about any side effects and the sheer number of tablets you have to take (i was the same before i started!) However, i havent experienced any real side effects at all - slight diorrhea in the beginning but nothing major - and to be honest even if it meant taking 20 or 30 tablets a day id still do it because without acne im a different person, so much more confident and every time i look in the mirror i cant believe its me! I cant believe that after trying so many creams and tablets and spending so much on washes etc the answer was so simple.

Vitamin B5 works for me. I have unbelievably oily skin, its been a problem since puberty and I'm now 40. Now I take 2.0 - 3.5 grams a day and my skin is great. I noticed that certain times of the month I need to up my intake.
Also when I've increased my carb intake like toast for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch and then pasta for dinner....my skin is an oil slick even while taking the B5. When I was dieting and consumming only having a little rice with dinner being my only carb I could getaway with only taking a gram a day or less and my skin was fine.
I've definitely noticed a connection with carbs and oily skin for me.

Very expensive and i've been overdosing on it for awhile. It didn't help with my ACNE at all!! Also causes diaherrea which is bad. I now use the Vitamin B100 Complex which just has 1 gram of this inculded and it's working great for overall body health. I don't see it helping with Acne though.

after all the good reports, i tried taking b5 regularly for 3 months/4 bottles. to begin with i thought there was hope, but after two months nothing seemed to improve. i increased the dose to 24 pills per day but after 3 months i gave up. apparently if it hasn't worked in 3 months, then you are unlikely to see any further improvement. Acuzine next....

I read the original study by a Hong Kong doctor before recommending it to a relative. Originally, he thought it would be good for weight loss - it wasn't, but they noticed that it worked wonders for the acne. You can google it, it was published in a reputable medical journal.
The dose that they were taking was 5-10g per day. My cousin took about 3g/day and reduced to about .5g after the acne was gone. It also got rid of my much milder acne.
The reason I think it wasn't as well known is that it's just a vitamin - no company can make a killing selling it (see: Accutane and other expensive prescriptions). So it's only now becoming popular, purely by reputation.
I would start at 1g/day and increase gradually to 3g/day, reducing if you encounter any side effects. (The ones we saw at over 5g/day were yellow urine and very mild pooping probs. They disappeared when we backed off.)

My mother-in-law is an expert herblest and and I do kow my vitamins and if and one is concerned about Vitamin B5 their is know concern here. Vitamins arePantothenic acid and are water-soluble vitamins, which means that they cannot be stored by the body and must be replenished every day. They help the body break down and use food. They are part of the B vitamin complex. So there is know way that this is toxcen to your body now there are other vitamis that are now water-sluble and can get toxcen in your vitamis but no vitamin B5 or and of the vitamin complex. Your body needs vitamin b5 like it or not some not as much outers more your and if you take the High dosed not going to harm you but if your body needs the dosed it will use it if not your body will reles it. It might give you the runs espesulay if you do take them with food, but if you think about it beans can give you the runs to are you going to stop eating bean. I had acne sece I was a Shopmore in hight. So my mother in law told me about vitmen b5 so I tryed it it worked and now only take 3 ( about 1.5 grams a day)pills a day for manintace about, but you might concert takeing b complex to even you out.
