| Pros | Really helps with acne Allows you to eat whatever you want without worrying |
|---|---|
| Cons | Can be pricey... I buy mine from Puritan's Pride |
| Bottom line | Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) has really helped me get rid of my acne. Had acne for 4 or 5 years and nothing worked, so I decided to try vitamins. Pantothenic Acid really helped, and has kept me clear long enough for all redness to have (nearly) disappeared. I have always used it with a multivitamin, so I am a firm believer in a natural approach to acne prevention. I definitely recommend this. |

| Pros | My acne has cleared My skin is less oily |
|---|---|
| Cons | A lot of pills A lot of trips to GNC |
| Bottom line | I love B5! I have had cystic acne since i was 13, I'm 24 now so its been a long, rough journey. I've used everything, but nothing worked except accutane which made me very depressed, enough to scare me away from it. I read the reviews on this website and decided to give B5 a try. My results weren't as immediate as most of the other reviewers, but after about a month i was completely clear. I have one zit right now, one! I've never been able to say that! It's so small and on my hairline i don't even think its noticeable. I also take 2 zinc pills a day, I originally tried zinc which reduced my oil but did nothing for the acne, i don't know if it's the zinc alone that's controlled the oil so I'm not going to stop taking them. I also take a multivitamin....a Flintstones chewable because they're yummy haha. I heard if you take too much zinc and don't take copper it can mess you up, so if you take zinc take a multivitamin too. I didn't experience any gas or diarrhea while taking this, i do mega dose, i take 12 B5 a day. The only thing left to deal with is the scarring, which is fading and concealer is fantastic when you don't have an actual bump to cover. I highly recommend this, with a gold card at GNC the cost isn't too bad. I' hope you guys have as much success with this as i did, because acne destroyed my confidence and i finally have it back. Good luck! |

| Pros | less oily skin smaller pimples no cystic acne. |
|---|---|
| Cons | 5 pills a day. Diarrhea first few days lower libido |
| Bottom line | I've had acne since high school. Was never that bad until I came to college tho. Maybe bad diet coupled with more stress made acne worse? Yea probably,. Anyway, I started taking two 500 mg pills every 12 hours. So 2 at 9am and 2 at 9 pm. And with my biggest meal (usually lunch), I take a b-complex pill. I bought the b5 from vitamin world and the b-complex from gnc. I think if you have relatively oily skin and you feel that your cystic acne is resulting from that, then you should definitely give this product a try. For me, it took about 2 days to see a decrease in oiliness. And now, on day 5, my face looks about 90% better. Also important: There was 1 day breakout for me. They weren't of the cystic kind but they were still pretty red. Megadose at your own risk. and drink plenty of water regardless. Good luck! |

| Pros | I got Clear Totally Defo recommend this nothing to lose |
|---|---|
| Cons | Buy pills on the internet so much cheaper |
| Bottom line | Hi, 24, m, I used this product before and it worked perfectly(10g) i took 20 tabs a day spaced out and kicked in 2 weeks was great. I eventually ran out of caps(2000) and skin was flawless so didn consider gettin more(silly). 2 - 3 Months later skin was back to its oily ways so i decided to get more but this time 1g tabs so i would only have to swallow 10 a day, But i am 5,6 weeks in and nothing has changed with my skin still bad the only thing i notice is dry lips, I read below that if you stop taking them the next time you need to increase your dosage but im not sure But just to let you know the product worked for me perfect i was meant to write a review ages ago but was never on this site cause skin was so good.. But now doesn't seem to be working but its still early days they say you should stay on them for 3 months.. Anyone have different effects the second time taking them????? |

| Pros | Reduces acne considerably Reduces oiliness Can get it pretty cheap online |
|---|---|
| Cons | May require mega dosing to achieve desired effect Takes time to start working initially Must be consistent Non-online retailers charge a lot for it |
| Bottom line | B5 (pantothenic acid) is great! I followed a megadosing regimen linked in one of the reviews, and after a couple weeks things started looking better Eventually I had virtually no acne; to make sure it wasn't me thinking I looked better, I stopped taking it cold turkey and things were terrible, and it took a while to recover Eventually the regimen tells you to work down, and while I was never able to fully get off it, I only take 2 500mg tablets a day now and my skin has 1-2 pimples If I forget a dose, I usually flare up but nothing bad While taking b5, I didn't and dont use any other products besides spot treatments--don't even wash my face besides when it gets wet in the shower I never experienced any side effects besides when I was megadosing, it kinda made me farty and my stomach would rumble. So take it with food always, that helps Make sure to keep a bottle for emergencies, if you forget to put in an order online (gmc charges $12~ a bottle). I buy mine from puritans pride, 5 at a time because you get a discount so it comes to about 6$ a bottle, I don't remember. Just search pantothenic acid--puritans pride can even auto-order for you |

| Pros | Reduces Oiliness Clears acne |
|---|---|
| Bottom line | I stumbled on this product by fluke. I bought a multi-vitamin formulated for hair from Holland and Barrats (vitamin shop in UK). After a month or 2 of using this I noticed that my acne had reduced considerable. I then looked at the ingredients and the main vitamin was B5 (100mg 1667% of recommended daily allowance). I did not change anything else so can only contribute it to this. I know this may sound like a small amount to make a difference but it does reduce the oiliness and maybe because i am a petite female, this maybe all i need. My word of caution is that this product is known to make you scalp dry, so make sure you use good conditioner or oil on your scalp. Also it is known to reduce mucus production (throat, cervical) so this maybe an issue. I would not megadose and would advice people to start small and then work your way up after a couple of weeks. Please be patient |

| Pros | Worked quickly, affordable, effective on cystic acne, no side effects |
|---|---|
| Cons | Lots of pills |
| Bottom line | Like most acne sufferers, I've tried just about everything. I heard about the effectiveness of b5 (panthothentic acid) against hormonal cystic acne so I decided to swing by GNC and give it a whirl. It's been a week, and I am surprised and thrilled with the results. My cysts (on forehead and chin) started to dissipate almost immediately. I've noticed a decrease in my skin's oiliness, and have had no new pimples in the last two days or so. I have noticed an increase in blackheads, (which I can definitely handle over cysts!) but I suspect this is still part of the initial breakout period. I am taking 10 (500mg) pills per day, in five doses of two pills each spread throughout the day. I am also taking a multi-vitamin, and have not had any negative side effects from the B5 at this time. I'm so pleased with the results so far! |

| Pros | Reduces oil. Clears skin fast. More energy. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Lots of pills. Expensive. Unclear expectancies for long term use. |
| Bottom line | Bottom line is that this stuff WORKS. I slowly worked my way up to 6g a day (2x 500mg tablets 6 times a day). Literally within the first couple of days I noticed a massive reduction in oil on my face, usually it is very oily. Then gradually over the space of the last 6 weeks it has been clearing my acne more and more - my makeup looks better because it isn't melting off with the oil production - I feel amazing! No nasty side effects. I would NOT try the megadose, and I am proof that you don't need to - this has worked just fine for me. I don't like swallowing pills, butu this is so worth it. Although this is costing me quite a lot, each bottle of pills lasts about 10 days and costs about €12. Seriously, I have had BAD acne for over 10 years now - and I have tried all the lotions and potions, exercise, diets, everything except the harsh prescribed treatments (for personal reasons) - nothing I've tried has ever given results as good as this has. If you want to treat your acne -- try this stuff. Follow my progress in pictures here - http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php/gallery/album/12000-vitamin-b5-pantothenic-acid-jeorney/ |

| Pros | I seriously can't think of any. False hope. |
|---|---|
| Cons | Supposedly you need to take a very large dose. |
| Bottom line | I don't want you to waste your money. As acne sufferers we are desperate to find a cure to this awful disease ASAP. We scour the internet for all sorts of strange remedies and we get caught up in these so called fixes. I've tried everything. Vitamin E, Zinc, Vitamin C, and all sorts of over the counter medications and nothing really has worked for my acne. Like you I am somewhat desperate to find a cure and Vitamin B (5 grams a day for 2 months) has been proven to be ineffective. I am disappointed and I don't want anyone to fall into the same trap so don't buy this stuff. There have been no conclusive studies on the effectiveness of Vitamin B on acne. It's all myth and hearsay from anonymous reviewers. |

| Pros | Improve energy and mood no oily skin reduce my acne about 90% |
|---|---|
| Cons | 2 years with the pill no side effect. the gave make u thirsty, so u will be drinkin more water. maybe too many pills? or if u dont have money u will get acne again |
| Bottom line | My english is poor i know. Anyway i want to let u know about this, I had acne for more than 10 years, acne ruined my teen ages. Iam 23 now. I had severe acne, and i still have severe acne if i dont take this vitamin. I tried so many things in my life to cure my acne but they never worked or were very expensive like the antibiotics. I tried this vitamin with very low hope, because i tried many vitamins and minerals before and they did not worked. Well, i started taking 1 gram for 3 days, then 2 grams, then 5 grams daily...5 days later i noticed my face with less less oil, 2 weeks later and most of my acne was gone, i am using sulfur soap too and my acne is 95% gone . One more thing. i stopped taking the vitamin for more than 1 month and then the acne came back. And guess wut, now i have to take 10 grams every day because 5 grams dont work anymore. So please, dont stop takin the pill cause for too long because then u will have to take moar pills to have the same effect. |
