Although I have yet to make it through a month on Retin-A because, yes, it does make your skin much worse before it gets better and I haven't had the patience, I can tell you that a very good friend of mine who is now 37 years old has been using Retin-A for years and her skin looks incredible. Retin-A has removed all of her fine lines and wrinkles, she has little crows feet, and she looks like she's 28. She encouraged me to use it and told me flat out - the first TWO months suck, but once you get past it, you'll see the results you want. Furthermore, studies have shown that if you were overexposed to sun (i.e. frying your face in the sun without sunscreen), using Retin-A will reduce the amount of sun damage significantly (i.e. those little awful age spots that start showing up in your 40's). If any of you have used one of those dermatological lights that take a photo of your face showing the age spots that have not yet appeared, it's a serious eye-opener. My friend has zero underlying age spots because of her continued use of Retin-A. For those of you complaining about the cost, go to Mexico. You can get Retin-A everywhere down there and it's about $20 for a large tube - and, yes, it's exactly the same stuff. That's where my friend has gotten hers for the past 10 years. For those of you complaining about your skin getting worse: That happens because the Retin-A removes the top layers of skin, allowing all of the garbage that's sitting under your skin to finally come out. As you remove more layers of skin, more and more garbage comes out, especially the deep acne. Once all of the acne is allowed to escape, then your skin starts getting better. Each person is different, each person will not have the same results in exactly the same time.
